Thank you very much for this video. I was there in late summer of 2017. The scale of the ashram impressed me. It's hard to imagine how it was at its peak. It was so strange seeing how everything has been abandoned. I wonder what led to it all falling apart. It's kind of cool though that it hasn't been commercialized. I was hoping to find a gift store, but obviously there wasn't one. Maybe it's kind of good to keep it as it is. I briefly stayed at the Swami Dayananda Saraswati ashram across the river, and was in town for that, so the Beatles thing was just a total bonus.
Thank you! Your videos are always amazing. I’ve been here 4 times since 2019… it’s a vibrant holy town sourrounded by Ganges and the Himalayas….Everytime I visit here I imagine the presence of a young paul McCartney singing “I will”. ❤
Ah, just a super job man ! Thanks for sharing. Love the way you superimposed the Beatles photos over the original locations. Also, perfect choice of music. Even a few photos this old Beatles fan hadn't seen before. ! Maybe an abandoned ruin now, but the views, the Ganges, birds, shrubs and trees, would still be pretty much the same.
This is just a tiny glimpse. It's a crazy small but bustling city of narrow roads. Lots of spiritual types around. Yoga classes advertised everywhere. Big religious ceremonies along the Ganga River every night. The Beatles were up on the hill on the other side in a quiet part.
It's amazing to me that no-one has thought or tried to renovate and restore the ashram to its former glory and then open it as the Beatles meditation retreat, to make a buck.
The ashram was completely looted by the people of nearby villages. They took away furnishings and even tore out windows and doors. Then humidity, disrespect and overrun by the jungle are responsible for the decay of buildings. When I visited the Ashram in october 2023 I noticed that most people were there only to adore the Maharishi and not the Beatles.

@@eliodue What a contrast between the vibrancy and life of the ashram in 1968 and the abandonment and decay of today. All things must pass, as someone might have said once.
Can you imagine he was sending letters to the woman he was cheating on her with while he was there? It's like he didn't even care. The problem with being famous is all your poor behaviour gets broadcast to the world. He should've known better.
@@michaelharrington75: I’m not talking about what he’s doing with the guitar. I’m talking about the whole trip. Going to see the “Maharishi” and acting like they believed all that crap…for days. Dressed all in white and sitting on that mat crossed-legged. So stupid. They all had a Christian upbringing but abandoned it by 1964….for THAT BS. Cynthia was too level-headed to get into it all. 🙄
Rishikesh se encuentra en el norte de la India, por lo que, especialmente en invierno, hace un poco menos de calor que el resto del país. Saludos desde Italia
I already filmed these sites: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xrBj1OTYHfM.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-aBxoX9Po-Tk.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IiPtysSe9og.html
Anyway it is nearly impossible to film inside the clubs because Indra club and Bambi kino are always closed, Top Ten Club is now just private homes, Star Club was destroyed by fire e so on. It is possible just to visit inside the Kaiserkeller.
They had nothing whatsoever to do with Christian dogma , neither do most of the people born through no fault of their own, into one faith or another... They were not Irish
@@tkoteacher1707 Take it easy. It's just a good thing that they had the opportunity to get outside of the world they knew and see life from a different perspective.
@@alukuhito You say that like they were ' just four boys ' who until then had seen little> Thats really not true and they were far from naive...they saw life from many different perspectives, their lives were full of different and unique experiences -meeting many eminant individuals on the world stage , they were not just everyday simple boys living in Liverpool
@@tkoteacher1707 Despite having differences, in general, all European countries share a lot compared to the differences between the UK and India. They gained new perspectives in India. That is all. I'm not sure why you're upset.
I worked as an assistant to their publicist at the time. This was all a put on for the media and the fans. It was all about selling their image and making them more money. Had absolutely nothing to do with their search for spiritual enlightenment etc.
