This song is just one of many examples why The Beatles were and still are the greatest band in history and if anyone wants to argue that please don't waste my time. Lennon was not yet 25 when he wrote this one. A more haunting beautiful song you won't hear by anyone else. I was seven in 65 when I got the Rubber Soul album, I'm 63 now and this song has always been relevant in my life. I've seen a lot of places come and go and not always for the better and at my age I've seen a lot of death of many loved ones. Some are still living somewhere and I have find memories of them. Very nice reaction young lady and Beatles 4 Ever ! ☮️✌️💕
John had a notebook in which he jotted down places he remembered from his youth. One day he was looking at it and realized that they were "places fast disappearing", as he put it. The lyrics started to come to him soon after. Just another in the absurdly long list of timeless, beautiful Beatles songs.
It's written about one of Lennon's closest friends, Stuart Sutcliff, early member of the Beatles. During one of their long gigs in Germany, Stu fell in love and was also accepted into arts school. He suddenly at 21(?) of a brain aneurysm .
Nobody could touch the Beatles. Elvis is my all time favorite artists and The Beatles are my second fav. The Beatles by far were the greatest group ever.
It may not seem possible to you now, but "In My Life" takes on more and more meaning with every passing year. And it happens differently to everyone, according to their memories and their lives. It's both deeply personal and universally understood by all. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go crawl into my room and sob uncontrollably. It happens every single time.
This song was about when the Beatles played in Hamburg Germany and the cavern clubs in Liverpool it was a song about looking back on their lives but it also made you think about your own memories
In reverse order: "Rubber Soul" was a REVOLUTION. Most newbies don't bother with it because they are told to listen only to "Revolver" and "Abbey Road". They have no idea what they are missing. I grew up with them. My favorite two LPs of theirs are "Beatles for Sale" and "The Beatles" (aka "White" album). I think "Abbey Road" is very slightly overproduced, slick.
Thank you Sunshine, this song could be been written for me, the times of my life, good sad.. nostalgic..I lost a few..I won more..life was a game when I was younger..and my daughter was born ,my life changed forever..and in my life..I loved her more ❤️💔 One of my favorite by them...
When you're ready for more like that from The Beatles, check out these songs sung by John Lennon: "Girl", "No Reply", "Rain", "Dear Prudence", "Julia", "Cry Baby Cry", "Happiness Is A Warm Gun", "I'm Only Sleeping", "All I've Got To Do", "From Me to You", among many many more.
The Beatles were the first ever music I heard 30 years ago and I’ve heard this song countless times, yet this song never fails to bring tears to my eyes.
This was the song 🎵 that my oldest daughter picked out for the father and daughter dance for her wedding. Simply love it and holds so much more meaning to me . The Beatles were the most revolutionary and evolutionary music group ever in music 🎶!
I always loved the back-and-forth stereo between the headphones, too. The Cars were known for doing that (Just What I Needed, Moving in Stereo). "Welcome to the Machine" by Pink Floyd does it, and it sounds incredible!
I was in grade school when the Beatles gained popularity so to say Beatles tunes have been a big part of my life would be an understatement. But as I've aged this has become my personal Beatles song. It's my life to a T.
My daughter and I picked this song for our dance at her wedding. Many said it was a perfect song for the occasion. Hard to believe that was over 15 years ago.
One of those lightning in a bottle bands. The music 4 people who due to fate or something, met and created the most beautiful music ever!! They were so different than anyone at that time. I get goosebumps every time.🎶🎵💙💜
Thankfully this did not get blocked, and showed John could write introspective songs as well as Paul.Check out if possible, You've got to Hide your love Away
Almost all of John's songs were mostly introspective. About his life,of those around him,his loves, his son,or his mother. Sure, there were some that werent. Those were about his friends,et. But he always wrote about things that effected him. Paul always wrote syrupy sweet songs for girls, even later on.
I enjoyed watching your reaction to this. Your calming smile was priceless. Groups don’t use stereo as they once did. It’s such a lost art - hearing different sounds in each ear.
Growing up in the sixties and having4 older brothers who all played in garage bands and became pretty good musicians playing around the state of Maine my oldest brother would bring a new beatle 45 home every week at least that's what it seemed definitely the most influential band in history more kids started playing instruments because of them beautiful song, you can start at A and end up at Z in their catalog and never hear the same sound twice great reaction keep spreading the music to the masses God-bless.
This is an autobiographical song about John Lennon's life. He wrote most of the lyrics after being asked why a book he wrote, In His Own Write, revealed more about him than his songs did. The lyrics about friends refer to Stu Sutcliffe, an early Beatle and great friend of John's who died in 1962, and another friend named Pete Shotton. Lennon also thought of his Aunt Mimi and wife Cynthia, as well as other friends. One of the most beautiful Beatles songs, John called it "A little piece of art work."
George Martin, the Beatle's Producer, wrote and played the keyboard solo. But the trick is he played it by putting the tape on a slower speed, playing in the low register of the piano, and when you play it back on the regular tape speed, it came out sounding flawlessly fast and sounds like a harpsichord. Martin often played piano for effect on some Beatle's recordings, wrote the string arrangement for Yesterday, sax arrangement for Ob-Bla-Di Ob Bla Da, others, the list is endless. Old time dance orchestra for Honey Pie, all kinds of added orchestras and instruments.[A Day in the Life, Something, Within Without You, etc] He truly was the fifth Beatle before anyone else musically. You can't get any better than George Martin...the Beatles might have failed or been a flash in the pan without him.
"Breakfast With The Beatles", is America's longest running weekly episodic radio show. It is hosted by Chris Carter. It is on from 9am pt - 12 noon pt every Sunday on KLOS 95.5 FM (you can also listen from their website) Southern California's oldest rock station. Lots if facts and news each week plus all the great music. ✌❤🌹
Jumping back and forth between ears is called Stereo. Most of the original Beatles songs were not recorded in stereo. They were recorded in mono, which, if you are listening with headphones, the same song parts go to both ears.
