The American Help! was the first Beatle album I ever heard. After all these years and a lot of studying I’ve come to the conclusion that Help! was where the “change” began. Tunes like Yesterday and Hide Your Love Away were a lot more introspective than She Loves You. Help! paved the way to Rubber Soul.

The US version had fine Beatle songs, but they had James Bond or Sitar instrumentals instead of the full Brit version😢. Ya gotta admit George's 12 string grabs ya.☮️ Michael, youre the master of the indepth video!

It's a great album to me. As is every Beatles album. Many underrated songs such as Another Girl, I Need You, The Night Before, etc...

I don't think they are underrated by true Beatles fans. @241156can

Excellent review, MN! I applaud your research and delivery. (Numbnuts! Ha! A term of endearment in my childhood household) I remember seeing Roy Orbison singing a ballad version of "Help!" In a TV special, it was devastating in its highlighting the sadness at the core of the song. This is another example of why I subscribed to the Tribe 2 years ago!. Thanks!

Another great video. I can never get tired of talking Beatles. Great album great movie. I have both versions the one with the james bond type music.. soundtrack stuff & the version without. To me theres no such thing as a bad Beatles album...maybe a throwaway song or two but not a whole album.

Your commentary is always fair-minded and well thought out. I always heard the album as you do, a slightly flawed one, which happens to have some really great songs on it. Just a quick thought: although they generally avoided having album songs on singles (and vice-versa), if they had put "Yes It Is" and "I'm Down" on the Help album, it could have been free of any covers. On the other hand, it is good that they did "Act Naturally," because it is always good to have Ringo sing a song (it gives us a wider scope of sounds + styles to have all four sing leads). The only 2 Beatles albums without Ringo singing are A Hard Day's Night and Let It Be.

Thank you for this great overview of the Help! album. I loved to hear your views on it as it was one of the first albums I owned and I always loved it very much throughout all of my life. To me it is almost a masterpiece, it's one of those albums which I never get tired of, and this means side 2 as well as side 1.

Hey Mr.Noland. Excellent video but there may be 1 little piece of info wrong. But I could definitely be wrong. I heard it suggested when the Red & Blue albums came out that Norman Smith, the Beatles engineer played bongos on A Hard Day's Night. If true, than that is the 1st outside musician to play with the Beatles. Or is that a BS rumor I heard? You may have heard this too. Anyway great video! Thanks

I’ve always felt Help was the beginning of the middle period for the Beatles. Figure HELP, RUBBER SOUL, REVOLVER is the middle period.

You might be able to make a Paul solo album out of the "Beatles" songs on which only Paul appears.

The Beatles "It's All Too Much" performed live in 1970 at the legendary Satellite Lounge New Jersey by the rock group Candy. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-V9IzqKDceXA.htmlsi=uOCtViK9HhlKhYZC

It was frustrating for me as a 10-year old to have listen to or skip over the instrumentals. By the time Yellow Submarine was released, they got it right putting Martin’s instrumentals on the B side.

Everything from Rubber Soul on is better. Of the ones before Rubber Soul, I like Hard Days Night the best and Help! second best.

"Help" is a great album by the Beatles, but is not a masterpiece, although they have unforgetable songs already all time classics.

Not going to lie, the Help! recordings are a mixed-bag to me. There are some great songs, but a few duds. Like Beatles For Sale, it seems a little rushed.
