Please note that music videos hadn't even been invented at this time. This was a promotional film. Nobody was using backwards tambourine, very few bands even had facial hair. Not very many were using string backgrounds in this manner. Distorted vocals were very rare, too. Try some of their earlier music if you want to rock, but even then their harmonies and pop love songs were unlike anything else on the radio. As for the name, Strawberry Field was an orphanage where John played as a boy. Don't think you are quite ready for the dreamscape of A Day in the Life.

To put it into context The Beatles went from releasing "I Wanna Hold Your Hand" in 1963 to releasing "Strawberry Fields" in 1967, with all the touring and promotional work in the interim it is mesmerising that such development could be achieved in such a short span of time.

there wasn't just Elvis back then, there was also Buddy Holly and the Crickets, Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Carl Perkins, Gene Vincent, Bill Haley and the Comets, all who the Beatles admired when they were teenagers and were influenced BY them. They covered some songs by Little Richard, Carl Perkins, Buddy Holly and others on their early albums and also during their sets when they were the local Liverpool band (before they were famous)

I love The Beatles, I’m 66 years old now so I was a really young kid when they appeared in the USA.. love the entire Beatles library of music but this song and this video always reminds me of one day, watching this video and realizing for the first time, one day my mother and my father will pass away my brother my sister and myself will also someday pass away. Dad passed away and 1977 @ 57 years old and mom passed away 2010 in her early 80’s and me and my siblings are still alive but we are in our middle late 60s. Live for the day because time passes by so fast. God bless Strawberry Fields forever.

There was Chuck Berry, Little Richard and Jerry Lee Lewis before Elvis. But Elvis was like freak of nature with his looks, (unmatched)charisma, "un-White" moves, and genuine vocal instincts and skills for rock, country, & gospel. Then came Buddy Holly, Motown, Sam Cooke, Bob Dylan.. and then the equivalent of a four-headed alien invasion from Liverpool

I mean ignore the Beatles video. Not who’s right who’s wrong. I like what you do. Back to Lennon, a big theme in his later work is his effort to come to terms with existence - in Tomorrow Never Knows, Strawberry Fields, Julia, God, Mother, and finally Watching the Wheels, where he finally seemed at peace with life.

Strawberry Fields was a park in Liverpool where (I think) they would go to escape from everything. One of the hardest tracks to listen to as an intro, but most of their music is so familiar it's hard to find something unfamiliar (for me anyway) 'Here comes the sun' isn't bad - not Beatles 'Pop' and not indulgent psychodelia either. You'll probably find that you know Beatles songs, but didn't know they were Beatles songs. I like the honesty" UK

It’s a bit intellectual....it perplexed a lot of people at the time....it’s a bit like art, they, and Dylan, were trying “to put fine art on a jukebox”, that’s a bit what the 60’s were about.....it’s a little like picasso and Braque inventing collage in painting in 1907, 1908, and 1909, it’s a bit of a “sound collage”, that stuff was way, way new back then, in the mid-sixties.....drugs are super dangerous these days, with psychos putting fentanyl even in marijuana, but this song on weed, or ,god for bid, on LSD is, um , quite a thing/experience (drugs are horrible, I’m just saying).....but, yeah, -- they were just innovators, to sound like someone else, at this point in their career, for them, just didn’t hold any interest for them.....Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys heard this, and pretty much, kinda quit for a while, or quit trying, Brian, being a genius himself , was definitely a revolutionary, and an innovator in the studio...this song, was quite revolutionary, it either inspired people, or broke their creative will, because, it’s just insanely creative, insanely original, and just way, way out there...artists like the Beatles changed how people made records for decades....there’s backward tape here, cymbals recorded backwards (that reverse sucking sound), there’s a key and tempo change in which their producer had to slow down one of the verses to make it fit, time-wise, and also be in key, and pitch, with the other verses, the list goes on, it’s absolutely nuts; all done on a 4-track tape recorder also, insane........anyway, glad she ended up liking it, good reaction.
