The Beautiful Abandoned 200 year old Lorena Plantation House in South Carolina Built in 1825

This beautiful old house was built in the early 1800’s for a German family who moved to the united states in the late 1700’s eventually settling in South Carolina. The house was supposedly built around 1820-1825. The family farmed cotton,sweet potatoes and timber as well as other crops. Its isolated location protected it during the civil war and out of Sherman’s march to sea. Sadly now it seems the land is being developed all around, the fate and future of this house seems uncertain if it will be saved or torn down. Hopefully it ends up saved, glad I could document this historic old house. Thanks for watching! Like and leave a comment below if you enjoyed! Thank you.

The James Carpenter rim locks date that house from 1830 to 1840. The brass medallion is a coat of arms for king James these were made in England.

What an interesting journey those door locks and medallion have taken.
@ihave35cents95
@ihave35cents95 Месяц назад
@@MeMyselfAndUs903 I got a whole house full of them. That’s why I had to look them up couple years ago.The Carpenter lift up rim lock has a distinctive lever-type striker that rides up a diagonal incline on the keeper and drops into the latched position rather than withdrawing into the case as with most rim locks. It was made of heavy iron with solid brass trim manufactured in England primarily for export to America and the British Colonies. I was missing a few, but they sell them in a reproduction with that bronze medallion for about 55 bucks without knobs.

New wiring, plumbing, landscaping and is any of those still shots you showed of the river, lake and cotton fields are a part of the original property someone would have a multi-million dollar property. No question about it. Damn shame it was sold to a developer. Local historical society should step in on this and put a stop to it immediately.

Wow, this is one nice house. 200 years old!!! Those 'developers' have to realize that yes there are people out there who would buy a house like this. Those surface mount locksets on the doors were made until the 1880's. After that they figured out how to mount the locks IN the doors. The ones in this house are VERY old. This house really needs saved. Heck, ALL the houses you tour need saved! PS You need to check the light switches when your in these houses. I just noticed the meter was still on the house and a wire still connected.

To bad it won't be bought by someone to love it for more years to come. 💙Beautiful and I thought the open door beside the fireplace was to store wood to be kept dry. But then I saw the deep space and that door, really has my curiosity going..... Just wonder. Thank you Kappy

You certainly picked a wet day to be out exploring, but we do appreciate your sense of adventure. I think the roof will eventually fail if they don’t repair it, or maybe that is what the developer wants to happen. Those door knobs are certainly interesting! Have a good week.

What a shame to tear this absolutely beautiful home down only to be replaced with the cheap stuff they are now building. Such a shame.

This beauty is a lot like the farm house where my family lived, but it had a big red barn to the left of it and woods in the back and side of the the house and a long road with a ditch a long side with corn fields up and down the long road,one neighbor a-little ways and a few neighbors across and more 🌽 fields down from there, with some woods on the right side and a small water hole with a banks edge where we’d all go swimming with friends, so it’s not just the house that holds memories there, it’s also the neighboring area that went with living at that remarkable old farm house👍🥰❣️
