My family and I recently visited Santorini for the first time. We hiked this very path. Nostalgic of our wonderful experience in Santorini, I ran across your video and thank you very much for it. It was an opportunity to relive the memorable hiking experience. Kudos for doing it midday in the heat!! For those that watch the video, and/or are considering doing this hike, I would encourage taking the hike all the way down the hill to Amoudi Bay, taking a swim in the beautiful waters, jumping off the cliff, and then rewarding yourself with an incredible meal at the Amoudi Bay restaurants (we ate at Sunset but Dimitris also came highly recommended by locals). The only recommendation regarding the video is to perhaps reconsider the comment at the 1:30:17 mark, where it suggested Santorini did not have much more than just the towns along the ridge. While we found the Caldera irrefutably beautiful, some of the best experiences were in the old, local, authentic towns away from the Caldera. These towns were abound with charm, locals and restaurants absolutely worth experiencing. Again, thanks for making this video and for taking the time to note historical references. Truly a gem of a video for this nostalgic reminiscer.

@@ProWalks I’m not sure about the identity of our walks, but given the pedestrian speed of 5 km/h and the walking time of 5 hours, it was close. But the point is, I enjoy your walks sitting in my chair with my nose in my TV, which is not like walking in the heat.

I experienced Santorini with my girlfriend for 9 days in September 2023. It is a stunning island and we had a great time staying in Perissa and Fira, with day trips to Akrotiri, Megalochori, the Caldera, Thirasia, and Oia. I left part of my heart in the beautiful paradise that is Santorini. God willing I will win the lotto and buy a villa there to share with family and friends.

I had the pleasure of visiting Santorini, also Mikanos and Athens... I didn't walk like this... so this was great to see areas I didn't see.... my son and I sat on a hill in Mikanos with goats nearby.... something he wouldn't see in L. A.....

Stunning views and a beautiful walk, thanks for taking us. I wouldn't like the bit where you have to walk on the road and would also feel a bit vulnerable in the areas where there are no people around on the cliff edge, but it looks great for those with a serious passion for hiking.

This was AMAZING!!! My husband and I will be on a cruise next July/August and stopping there in Santorini. I'd love to do this hike but not sure with the heat and short time. But what a great hike, spectacular views and incredible history! Mahalo nui!🌺
Hey, I hope you enjoy your trip! Yeah, the heat made it pretty tough. I would have liked to spend more time in Oia to walk down to the port there. The hike is great..but probably better to enjoy your time in the main towns....in my opinion. :) If you do end taking the hike, bring plenty of water. :)

I thought that would not be right. What a miracle that next to the very isolated church there were grapes and other fruits and water!!!
Your at the top of your craft .Any tourist , now just has to watch your videos , no need to try and film it yourself , anymore. Amazing advances in small cameras and resolution in the last few years. But you have the best style.

It is a real feat to walk so much under the scorching sun, in the heat. Thank you for the video and interesting comments. I have never been there, perhaps I would have tried to walk so much, but I would have taken three liters of water with me. :)
I did this hike from Fira to Oia a couple months ago. I took a million pictures along the way, but the hike was much harder than the tour books, TripAdvisor, etc. said it was! It said it’s easy enough for a 7 year old to do it. The loose gravel and cobblestones are not easy to walk on for several miles. Maybe I’m just getting old 🤷♂️
I loved watching this walk!!! It was the first time I saw you go on a really long out-of-town walk, and your video really captures that wide, rough, epic outdoorsy feel! Your technique here is really impressive!!! Somehow you got a nice wide field of view, but without fish-eye distortion (I can't tell if you used Linear+HL or Wide plus anti-fish-eye in post) and the details on the trail and bushes are so fine, all with that amazing back drop, looking very crisp without artificial sharpening. So as you walk along, the viewer can focus on either the textures in the foreground (trails, rocks, vegetation) or the distant towns, islands, boats. This appeals to both the short-sighted (detail oriented) and long-sighted ("big picture") elements of hiking! I love it! Awesome job capturing this hike!!!
Hey, thanks! I wasn't quite sure what I was getting into at the start of the walk, but I knew it was going to a long, hot and difficult hike. I used the Gopro 8 on Linear mode. I don't have the 9, but the Hero 8 is definitely better than the 10. I just got the Hero 11 but haven't had a chance to try it out yet. I'm glad the quality of the video is up to par! :)
54:15.......I was hoping you'd go down to the sea itself. 1:12:12.......I was speechless seeing such forms of architecture.....wow !!! 1:20:15......a true oasis ! 1:57:00......why is it so heavily fenced ? 2:04:37......Beautiful place, I would stop here for a few minutes !
