Have yall ever been to Hot Springs NC? My cousin Keith and his wife Jeanne have a hardware store/general store that is 3rd generation. It's called Gentry's. Stop in and visit if you're ever there! They will treat you right!
I’ve lived in Black Mountain off and on for my whole life. I own a home at the top of the mountain behind you at the start of this video. It’s a great town that’s EXPLODED population wise over the past 7(ish) years. Thanks for coming.
My family and I lived in Black Mountain many years ago. No more live there moving to Asheville right now 7 years. Always visit Black Mountain sometime.
Black mountain is located just below the pisgah national forest. Couoke more cool little towns nearby is mariin to east off I40 and little Switzerland,nc located northeast of black mountain,nc. Marion,nc is famous for their bigfoot festival they hold in September.
Hello my friends thank you so much for posting this video.... I retired from my job after 37 years this July.... I am moving to Black mountain in the ... To enjoy the sights the fresh air need some new people learn about North Carolina and I would love to share my experiences with New York I love the four tempered seasons at the area offers and I am in love with the mountains I've been a city boy all my life but I've had a touch of country in my blood and I just want to make the second part of my life amazing and I'm going to do it in Black mountain.... thank you for sharing ✌️... Oh yeah I forgot to mention it's the perfect place for me to share New York cuisine in the mountains of North Carolina I'm going to open up an Italian deli I love to meet people and nothing makes me happier than seeing smiling faces and somebody telling me Marco that was so good that's my reward
I have been going to Black Mountian for 20 yrs. My brother has a shop in Black Mtn called Black Mountian Iron Works. He made the the big iron chairs at the center of town and a lot of iron works around town. He is on Padgetown Rd, near the tractor place. He makes everything hand made, also has a shop too.
I live about 45 minutes from black Mountain. Great Place. Phil's Barbeque has good food. They have a great German restaurant and German beer. Great shops, art and people !
If you go back again to Black Mountain, you should also try The Black Mountain Bistro. The Trailhead is also very good, and The Tail Basil has excellent Asian food. I live in Asheville. :) If you like thrifting, there is an excellent thrift store nearby called Mountain Home Thrift Store and Cafe. They have good coffee and brownies there too. :) They support the Black Mountain Home for Children.
Happy New Year to you. If you ever go further east in North Carolina, you should definitely visit Shiloh General Store in Hamptonville, a very interesting store run by Amish.
I enjoyed everything you showed and all the walking along the sidewalks and in the back ground buildings and people as you shared the video. I saw the words Eminent Domain in one of the history writings and it just brought tears to know so many lost their homes and farms for progress. All the food looked so good, made my mouth water. The fudge, I would smell :) I have to watch my sugar close, so maybe one to two bites. When you mentioned the Cove, that brought memories of my mother going there years ago for retreats. She loved the Cove. I know she was healed while there during one visit a couple she dearly adored laid hands on upon her and prayed for her. She was release from the evil or demon of suicide. She gave her testimony of how when she was being prayed for she felt the evil go out of her and left her body. What a blessing, she never again tried or thought about taking her life but lived many many years after and helped others as myself with their Spiritual battles. She passed in May of 2019 but is still with us in Spirit today and everyday through our Lord Jesus Christ. Mike and Karen, Thank you so much for bringing up beautiful memories among our Mountains of NC and TN as you walked with us and Jesus. All My love from NC
My family comes from Black Mountain and were one of many early pioneers of this community, I was lucky enough to visit the museum and see photos of the Kerley/ Kerlee family and meet with the outgoing mayor Mrs. Slagle such a wonderful lady, and attend Kerlee Baptist church, such a beautiful area.

Just loved the general store. What a neat town, so many lite shops. Love the repurpose of the old fire house into a museum. Ñnnoooo the cupcakes place was closed. So wanted to see those.
I've been to Ridgecrest many many times, but never actually stopped in Black Mountain. I have a son in school at UNC Asheville, so maybe a day trip to Black Mountain is in my foreseeable future. Thanks y'all!
Happy New Year Mike and Karen. That plant is a decorative cabbage. Thank you for the tour of the beautiful small town. I've always love small towns. You feel more relaxed in smaller towns. People seem to be more down to earth and genuine. The food did look good. They do seem to like to put alot of cheese on the food. Karen that hooded sweat shirt is cute and looks like it will keep you warm. Looks to be well made. God Bless and take care.
Love this! Such a pretty little town! The food looked so good. Karen, I love the hoodie you chose! You mentioned Lake Lure and Chimney Rock. It’s so beautiful and I know you both would enjoy the little town of Chimney Rock.
Thank you for sharing your visit to this wonderful mountain town. I lived there 25 years ago and had worked at Ridgecrest a number of year's before that.
Thanks for doing a video in Black Mountain. It has been many years since we have been there. This makes me want to go back. The food looked great. Thanks again for the work you do.
Thank you for sharing this.. I have always wondered about Black Mtn.. All i knew was it was where my Aunt pulled time. Seriously. I wasn't quite sure why they send her here in NC when she was from Va but they did. Now that I know there is much more, I will be making plans to bring my own babies. I LOVE historical adventures. Thank you so much. Be blessed and praying for traveling mercies as yall go on your journey
Thanks for showing us around Black mountain. Looks like a place we should check out. Love Kilwins. Bothe of our daughters worked at Kilwins in Petoskey Michigan. The first store & owners. Our youngest daughter is pictured on the the bags of Carmel corn with a fellow coworker. Enjoy your RU-vid channel!
I traveled up and down Black mountain many times when I was an O T R driver . I wish I could afford to r v the country and see some of the places where a semi could not go .
I went to church camp in Black Mountain. Christmount is the name of the camp. My children went there and as teens to Ridgecrest. Never have been to the downtown. Will have to put it on my bucket list. Happy New year!
I just stayed at the KOA a few weeks ago. It was a beautiful campground and we really enjoyed our short trip. Can’t wait to return to the area in the Fall.
We really enjoyed this video. Now we want to travel there the next time we head in your direction. Thank for sharing Black Mountain with us. Happy New Year!
What a nice quaint town! Does it have access from The Blue Ridge Parkway? Your lasagna and pizza looked delicious! I enjoyed browsing the general store with the two of you. It had a lot of interesting things! Thanks for taking us along!
That's a very small old town. I would love to visit there. Thanks for the tour!! The General Store was great. I could look through there for hours. Neat old stuff.
Black mountain North Carolina Mike and Karen will be one of my stops in the spring then I will go on over to the good old Gatlinburg Tennessee there is a lot of small towns out there we just got to go see them great video guys till next video God bless 🙏
In the UK we call those ornamental cabbages, so pretty but cannot eat them. I love shopping with you guys! Such a cute town. Really enjoyed this. Happy New year to you both. Cheers.
Never heard of Andre Michaux. Billy Graham The Cove is a great place to visit. That area sure is a change for the better as compared to woke Asheville. Always like to go to museums. Thanks K&M!
@@KellyB3 How absolutely wrong you are! LOL! You have to realize the state of North Carolina has 2 U.S. Senators, both being Republicans, also the majority of NC state representatives elected to the U.S House are Republicans. Last year; we elected a Republican lieutenant governor, also... a conservative Chief Justice was elected to replace the previous liberal one in 2020. Also, in our general assembly: The NC state senate and state house are BOTH controlled by a Republican Majority. Woke, huh? Nope. And people like you better not turn our state into a dump like liberal California.
Love the video, we always called them cabbage rose. Nice town, always wanted to go there. Thanks for sharing. Good Lord Willing we will be coming up to Pigeon Forge next month from SC. We like staying at The Inn at Christmas Place.
