I saw a lot of video's from you lovely people but this one stands out somehow,so harmonious, what a lovely boy,Jasper...nice to have friends visiting,I live in Hungary for 6years now and everybody backhome in Holland said they would visit me:so far only my son and 1 friend with his girlfriend...it's getting lonely after a while
Those first few words of your video Sarah and Luke, tonight as I watch it... have come at exactly the right moment in time. I'm quite blown away to be honest, at the synchronicity of it. This afternoon, the love of my life, for nearly 24 years, found the courage to tell me something that he found out alone, four days ago. At 52 years of age, he has lung cancer. As an Australian Aboriginal man, he is one of only two surviving males of his extended family group and community he grew up in. A shocking statistic that is still far, far too common in Australia. Whatever it takes, for however long he has, I will use your words to guide me forward. Sorry this is really deep. Your channel, you and Luke, Molly, Timmie, Maggie, Pepper and even Rupert, as you may know, has been a big inspiration, comfort and good for big belly laughs through some challenging circumstances over the years. Cass has and does often watch along with me, even though he is not one for consuming much media, and it has brought him, often, hope that there are still good humans out there doing good things. If you knew his story, the significance of how vital this has been for him would be more understandable. Many, many times Cass and I have laughed, rewatched, thoroughly enjoyed, discussed at length, pondered, what, how and why you do what you do, cosied up in my little 45m2 flat, sometimes when we've needed to retreat from the challenging times we've been going through. Luke, he absolutely loves your woodworking and as we call it over here 'bush mechanics'. He was very good at most things he turned his hands to, too. I, like it or not😂 got blow by blow explanations of exactly was happening for and TO😂 Connie. And Sarah, how lovingly and patiently you care for your furry family members has warmed his soul (being a very sensitive, caring towards all living creatures person that he is too). I will face each day with courage and care, being very mindful of just how precious time is. THANKYOU Carolyne 💖🐨💖
I am so sorry to hear what you are both going through but knowing that we make some sort of small difference in your life means so much to us Carolyn❤️❤️ Thanks for sharing this with us i am sure it was hard to do . Give our love to Cass❤️❤️❤️
Oh what a superbly lovely visit from your friends and the awesome bonding time with their sons! What a special time! I have huge tears of joy at your interaction and bonding! The boys will never forget their visit, for the rest of their lives! I have 3 sons, and I know of what I speak of! They will visit you two in 10 Yeats time again! 😊🤗🤗🤗🤗😘💕
Lovely video❤ Piggies are content and still have their pond, your garden is thriving and producing, and Molly has made new friends🥰. The visit must have been a great experience for your friends, especially for the boys . I am sure that this is something that most of their friends have never experienced.
The piggy babies are growing enormous. Will they grow much bigger than Pepper, Sarah, and how do their temperaments compare to that of the kunekune? Your garden is looking really lovely this season. It was such fun watching your visitors getting to explore and enjoy your beautiful place in the sun❤❤❤
They will probably be much bigger than Peppa so we will take it one day at a time. Maggies baby is the calmest and sweetest of the bunch , their temperament seems good but one of them does bite me , she doesn't hurt me and i smack her nose when she does but only time will tell if they remain easy to handle. But we do want to try , they are very sweet
Oh what a glorious video!😂 The piggies have grown so much and what a lovely greeting you have when you go to feed them in the morning! How fabulous that you got to see your old friends, and what lovely children helping you with chores. As my husband and I get older(we are both pensioners) we are great believers in living each day like it's your last , you never know what's around the corner . Looking forward to the next catch up , keep well and happy xx❤
What a beautiful video, guys❣ How special it is to sit quietly with you through parts of your day, enjoying each of your animals, your garden, and visiting dear friends. These moments are precious 😍. Although it was their visit, it seemed perfectly natural to have those good and kind boys with you, learning the ropes of tending a few farm animals. They all really enjoyed themselves! It was a blessing all around that they could stop and stay with you. Omigudness those babies are nearly as big as Peppa 😱! They're still sweet and fairly well behaved for kuneboarlets, eh? I'd never seen a momma kune nuzzle her grown baby before, so that was an amazing capture. 💖
Enjoyed your video. Glad your friends visited, they seemed to enjoy themselves also. The animals also seemed to enjoy the friends also. Your garden is looking so good. Love watching the pigs eating out of a spoon, So precious and fun to watch.
Good day Sarah and Luke. Thank you for sharing your beautiful farm and garden with us. The piggies really grow fast. You enjoy everything you do, this is awesome. Love you from Walvis Bay, Namibia. ❤❤
The song is by walrus and the carpenter.. who is one of our best friends (Matt) over the years many many people have told him he reminds them of Cat Stevens 😊
Grazzi talli tkunu inspirazzjoni tassew ghalina. Bhalissa qed nhadmu biex ikollna tip ta hajja simili. Malta saret wisq invasata bin nies biex ikollok paci u kwiet. Love and blessings from Malta xxx
I think young Jasper enjoyed himself more than his younger sibling… particularly feeding pepper and the babies …a valuable lesson in life …life isn’t all about money and technology..sometimes the simple things are just as important
Yes , Jasper was an absolute joy to have around, he couldn't wait for feeding time and made sure he came with me day and night , a a very clever boy and we had many an interesting conversation
This was really special! I think the older boy would love to spend a month there working the farm! He would be a great helper! After a few days, he could do stuff himself! Very out going and both the boys seemed very well behaved!! I hope the adults had a great time too!! I know you ate good with Luke cooking and the Food Critic on the farm!! Do Peppa and the babies go lay around in the water to cool off when your not with them? I loved seeing the ruin again! All the Best! See you Monday!! ✝️🙏❤🇺🇸🇵🇹☘🍍🍍🌻👍🤗😎
Yes Peppa and her babies are always in the pond area unless they are eating or digging. Yes Jasper was a great help , maybe we will see him again when he is old enough to come here on his own 😁
Lovely video!! Special time with special friends, and with delicious fresh food expertly prepared by Chef Luke. You can tell a persons character, in part, by the way animals respond to them. The boys were wonderful with all the animals. I really enjoyed seeing that. Thanks for sharing it. Have a great week!! 🥰🌿♥️
You have a good life and what a joy to be able to share it with your Australian friends. You helped their boys create memories that will stay with them their entire lives.
I loved Peppa and piglets looking at you.... are you coming down with or food or not 😂😂😂 they are all so cute, and every belly rub makes me smile 🙂 Luke had a really tough judge this week...but at the end he still got an 8😅 🍏🍏🍏😉😉😉😘
And again a wonderful video! My goodness, one of the piggie babies has almost reached the hight of Peppa, I can't believe it! Is that Baby Pie??? Thank you so much for sharing.
Yes it is Baby Pie and she is such a sweet heart. She is the most well behaved piglet of them all and Peppa is always kissing her ,I think she reminds her of Maggie ❤️❤️
Sarah, how on earth did you manage to teach those piggies to sit? You are an amazing animal lover❤ I love everything about your channel.❤❤ greetings from South Africa😊😊
Good morning Luke and Sarah, I hope you're both doing well! Thank you for this video, it was so lovely to see Peppa and the babies, you're right they are so big now, you seem to be getting on well training them 👍😊 Sarah, I could watch you for hours in the garden, something about it is just so calming! So nice to see you have visitors, and Molly wanting to be star of the show made me chuckle, she's adorable ❤ Food critic Jasper was hilarious 😂 nice to see such confident children, I bet it was nice to have that bit of help with the animals as well, I hope you all had a lovely time 😊 It was lovely to see the ruin too, I can imagine it being so beautiful ❤ Thank you again for a wonderful video you guys are amazing and you always add sunshine to my day ❤ Have a beautiful day and take care 😊
I love reading your messages Mark , thank you so much for taking the time to write such lovely words . Yes we had such a lovely time with our friends it was so nice to see them again after all these years and meet their beautiful children
@@lukeandsarahsoffgridlife thank you Sarah, that's so nice of you to say, I always write/speak from the heart, you're videos do so much for me. No amount of comments will ever be enough to show my appreciation ♥️
Thank you for such a lovely video with the boys sharing their interactions with the animals. I always learn such a lot. I agree with Jasper’s assessment that Molly (the wonder dog) is the favourite! What a gem she is! I would like to know more about the water hole sealing by the pigs that you alluded to earlier. Can you explain please? Although a lot of work, I congratulate you both on choosing this difficult but rewarding lifestyle. It takes a huge commitment. The sacrifices you need to make are evident even to a city slicker, like me. I did notice that you can’t both be absent together, on vacation for example. Thank you for sharing your life with us. I so look forward to Sundays. Greetings from Brisbane ❤
So happy you enjoyed this video x x We got the pigs for this one reason Gleying....The pigs are slowly gleying the pond which means they are naturally sealing the bottom with their poo so the water should stay in there longer. Once August hits i have no doubt the water will evaporate as it does get crazy hot but the changes the pigs have made to this area are already evident 😁
Do you have enough to preserve the beetroot, I love pickled beetroot, Swedish recipe 👌 Maybe true about the cucumbers, the most common variety in stores is Lebanese cucumber and its smoothe. Therr aren't event the dots where the prickle would be 🤷🏻♀️
Thank you , yes they are but they have a job to do on our farm too, that is called gleying .They are helping us naturally seal our pond with their poop
Hello Luke and Sarah , i have never been around pig's before and my question is this : Is there ever a situation where your pigs could be a danger to you ?🤔
Kune Kune pigs not a chance because they are very sweet natured but we don't know about these wild boar mix , so we will take it one day at a time but if they get hard to handle they will have to go
I’m a newish viewer, I love your channel. I especially admire your sense of gratitude and flow with life’s ups and downs. I wholeheartedly believe the reason you have so many good people and unexpected opportunities in your lives is due to this attitude. 💕 It may have already been said, but I find that if you ferment the animals grain based feed ( lots of RU-vid advice on this), then it goes twice as far, literally halving costs, with added benefits of absorption for the health of your beautiful animal companions Thanks for sharing 🙏🏽🤗
No , I call one spoon baby because she is the first to come to the spoon and has done since she was little , the boys will be leaving us next week because they are getting older and will soon be able to make their sisters pregnant and the other girl we will see . It is complicated as we do not know if we are going to keep them as yet because they are still have mostly wild genes so we are taking this experience day by day. They do all answer to baby though 🤣
We are experimenting by using them to seal the pond. It's a natural process called gleying. We will see how it works out. They have only been in there for 3 months or so and we already see a difference. The pond is normally dried out this time of year so it already seems to be working.
Did u not need planning permission for the piggy den?? Sand bag structures are allowed without PP? That could be cool. You could build all sorts with the man power. x
I wonder if anyone has built something with used vehicle tyres yet? Those seem to be the most robust building materials today, and in large supply. Perhaps though in Portugal they are not so free.
@@lukeandsarahsoffgridlife oh cool, maybe before they realized it was such a great idea. There are too many used discarded tyres anyways, better reuse them effectively anyway.
Hello Luke and Sarah, if i may ask is your land considered urban or rural or something else? Its confusing i heard rural/rustic land might be problematic for living but urban its okay? There are also "not buildable" and "buildable" types of lands, i wonder how are they different from urban and rural
Hi we have an urban article (the ruin) and rural. Yes getting a habitation license for a rural article can be problematic but not impossible. Always check with the local camara/junta before buying. Good luck!
@@lukeandsarahsoffgridlifehey thank you for answering, so part of the land can be urban and livable by removable structures like caravan and then the rest could be rural/rustic and its all in one land?
Hi Luke and Sarah.I envy both of you,I would love to do what you're doing but my wife just wouldn't be able to live that life. I do what you do but on 1 acre on the very edge of suburbia which works well. I have an idea for you that could give you a good income stream. You could get people to come and hunt wild pigs. people pay good money for that I know you're waiting for the approvals to restore your old buildings but why can't you start rebuilding the walls etc while you wait. Just the stone work. cheers.
Hi Peter! Thanks for the idea but I think here in PT if you want to hunt you have to be in a hunters association and then you can hunt anywhere it is legal to do so. I thought of starting the walls but I asked a builder friend and he said it doesn't make sense cos the rain will pour in from the top since there is no roof and ruin any work I do. We aren't waiting for permits we are waiting to save enough money... Plenty to do till then, we will get there soon 😊
