The first Alien film is one of my favourite horror films, and Sigourney Weaver is absolutely the perfect fit for Ripley, couldn't imagine the films without her.

@@petyrparker The sets for the first Alien is breathtakingly Gorgeous .. Just look at it, its beauty is still unmatched today 4 decades later ... Giger at his absolute best ... and Ridley Scott is the best world building director of all time, he takes his inspiration from a wealth of great great artists like Giger, Moebius etc etc.. Blade Runner's beauty also still stand tall today with Alien as the peak sci fi aesthetics in movie history ..

@@88feji I am not saying first is not good. In fact it IS the best of the alien saga. However, Alien 2/ Aliens too had some fascinating animatronics and effects, nerve wracking moments and cool action sequences. James Cameron didn't disappoint and gave a wonderful sequel

@@petyrparker Some scenes in James Cameron's sequel do look rather outdated, but I do agree that James Cameron brought lots of thrilling actions to the series ....but I think some of JC's gore scenes came from unused footages (or at least ideas) from Ridley Scott's first movie .... In terms of awe inspiring sets and cinematography, I think Ridley Scott still takes the cake by quite a margin ...

One of the things that makes old school cinematography so special is how there is always energy in the frame. Even if the camera wasn't moving there would be something going on. Ridley Scott and James Cameron were surely the perfect auteurs for this kind of philosophy. Even to this day their methods haven't changed much, which is quite rare.

One of your best works. You’ve takes a lot of shots in motion, you’ve managed to create a suspense about alien. And that’s exactly what the first movie is about. Suspense. I didn’t watch Alien 3 and barely remember the second movie, because all the suspense had been gone. You made me want to watch all of Alien movies!

Lol what? Aliens is meant to be an action war movie against the aliens. It’s not supposed be “suspenseful” in a traditional horror sense but it’s still rememberable as one of the BEST movies of all time and it’s still suspenseful in a intense battle way, NOT a horror way of the first movie. But the suspense in Alines is NOT “aLl gOnE” AT ALL in Aliens because the suspense is in the intensity of the battles and fights. You seem to badly not understand on how films work at all as not all films have to be the same to be rememberable for different reasons and alien and aliens MORE than succeed in all these different directions that both movies are aiming at. And Alien 3 is still suspenseful despite the faults of that movie as it’s remembered for pretty good things as well! You just need to remember things better and understand what they are trying to do, seriously!

And Ridley Scott DID take the same direction of horror from the first alien movie to direct Alien Covenant as that movie DOES have the “good old days” of the first Alien in terms of direction as well as modern day stylistic horror sensibilities that looks FANTASTIC and GORGEOUS for the setting, technology, characters, and atmosphere of the movie despite the problems in that movie. But Ridley Scott did NOT “tOoK a coMpLeTeLy dIffErEnt wAY fRoM tHe oLd dAYs oF aLiENs” AT ALL as that movie DOES have all of the sensibilities that the first Alien movie have but with modern stylistic flare to it which made it all look so great and amazing for the movie to look visually fantastic and a very dark and sinister atmosphere that’s beautifully brought to life in that movie truly!

I have NO idea on how you can say that at all as while yes Alien Covenant had problems with its plot, the visuals in Alien Covenant look FANTASTIC as it’s a gorgeously dark and stylized film that Ridley Scott was able to beautifully be able to bring to life for the Alien atmosphere and scenery in EVERY way in that beautifully dark and stylized film! There’s ALOT to like and love in that movie visually, thematically, and scoring wise outside of the problems with the script for the movie! That’s for sure!

I feel like the movies after Aliens kind of ruined the mythos and mystery of the original film. I still hold Alien at such high regard, but I just wish the other movies, especially the prequels, didn't exist. How do you guys feel about that?

I watched part 1,2,4 and Covenant and I have like the most uncommon opinions on these movies probably I thought the first two were good, but didn't really think they were all that exciting, 4 was enjoyably bad and I really liked Covenant except for some decisions

I think the best option would be to create "The Beauty of Alien Trilogy". Everything that was released after the Alien3 departed far from the canon and is very different in atmosphere. The first three films maintain a common dark atmosphere and are perceived as a single entity, despite the fact that they were made by different directors.

CInematography of the franchise is at its best when Ridley Scott is the director (the first Alien, Prometheus, Alien Covenant) .... Some scenes of Jame Cameron's sequel looks very dated compared to the first Alien, this really shows how great an eye Ridley Scott has, his movies are always visually ahead of its time ....

Je me souviens quand j'ai vu Alien la première fois. J'avais entre 12 et 14 ans (je confonds mes âges donc je ne sais plus précisément), et j'ai été époustouflé par la beauté du film et son ambiance - je suis d'ailleurs l'une des seules personnes au monde (du moins je pense) à trouver les aliens incroyablement beaux (sauf les face huggers, eux ils sont immondes). Après avoir fini le 1er film, j'ai harcelé ma mère pour qu'elle me donne le livre de Giger qu'elle avait dans son atelier (elle est peintre) et je l'ai lu en boucle, subjugué par la beauté des dessins, des aliens. Je n'étais pas forcément fan à l'époque (je trouvais le film un peu lent), mais j'ai tout de suite eu un "coup de cœur graphique" que j'ai toujours aujourd'hui quand je revois les images. Rares sont les films pour lesquels j'ai eu une telle obsession sur le graphisme et la beauté ! Sinon je pense sincèrement que c'est l'une des meilleures vidéos de ta chaîne : l'ambiance angoissante qui augmente va vraiment parfaitement avec les images (sublimes évidemment), non pas que ce n'était pas le cas avant, mais là c'est particulièrement bien fait je trouve.

Here's my thoughts on all alien Saga. Alien 1979 - Great film also my number 2 best Ridley Scott film, my number 1 film is blade runner 1982 Aliens - Lot that film a lot. Alien 3 - It's OK Alien: Resurrection - Not crap, but disappointed.

3 is very interesting and very different. It's kind of a mixed bag. Some people really don't like it. Some really do. I think it's worth checking out. 4 is bad. Don't bother haha. And Covenant I think is pretty solid. Worth seeing at the least because Michael Fassbender is so good.

I probably would have separated the films to be fair, at least the first 4 ones, since they all give of different vibe and atmosphere, mostly due of course to having different directors (and especially as someone who actually think the fourth instalment is good, possibly more then the second which have certain undertones that I'm not a fan of ^^")

no amount of visual fx or action or set pieces can match the absolute bone chilling opening sequence of A L I E N .... What Scott created with the original, Cameron completely and radically ruined its aesthetics in ALIENS and then it got worse and worse and worse.... and never even came at the foothill of the existence of the first one, which is a f***ing MASTERPIECE of HORROR CINEMA. In simple words.. What ALIENS did to A L I E N ... is what THE AVENGERS did to T H E D A R K K N I G H T.

I see where you’re coming from, but I think Aliens is a great movie in its own right. Sure, it kinda ruined the aesthetics of the original, but I think Cameron knew that he couldn’t top it, which is why he made an action movie instead. I personally think that Aliens is one of the finest action movies out there, however, I completely agree that it’s not close to the quality of the original. Alien, in my opinion, is one of the best movies ever made. Perfect script, pacing and aesthetics. Truly a remarkable piece of worldbuilding that Scott created.
