The Beauty of the Godzilla Heisei Series || 平成ゴジラの美しさ 

Even though it was 1998 that introduced me to the Godzilla character, the Heisei series is what truly showed me the wonders of this franchise, can’t believe that was 10 years ago.

In my opinion The heisei era is the true and ultimate version of Godzilla. Like what is there not to love about the heisei era? It has a great Godzilla design and has some of the best sounding Godzilla themes ever made by the legend himself Ifukube Akria. By far my favorite incarnation of the king of the monsters.

Wonderful tribute! I remember desperately wanting to see the rest of the heisei era being a child growing up in the early 90s watching them slowly throughout the years on vhs while having no internet or cable. It wasn't until 2000 when I finally got to see the last 2 entries on the amc channel. A few years later I finally started to find them on dvd in stores. Good times and memories with these films!

Im with you, i got hooked on Gojira in 1996 but wasn't a die hard fan till i saw my first Godzilla film in theaters in 1999 with my family.

In my opinion,The Heisei era was (along with 1954 Godzilla) the TRUE Godzilla.

The Heisei era is definitely my favorite era and the best because of the story, monster battles, and characters, the most notable being the unforgettable heroine of this saga! the beloved Miki Saegusa played by former actress and singer Megumi Odaka. A psychic girl who debuts in Godzilla vs. Biollante and being the recurring protagonist in the other installments who as she passes she begins to see Godzilla as a misunderstood creature trying to survive in an artificial world, from being an unstoppable destructive beast to a force of nature plus a loving father to the Baby. Godzilla, Miki began to feel affection and admiration for the radioactive titan This era catapulted Godzi and its popularity increased without forgetting its redesign that made it more presentable and being one of the most emblematic versions. Godzilla was played by the legendary Kenpachiro Satsuma 1947 to 2023 RIP New Monsters like Biollante, Battra, SpaceGodzilla and the monstrous Destoroyah And the return of kaijus like his archenemy King Ghidorah and his mecha version, the moth Mothra, Mechagodzilla II, Rodan, and combat machines like the Super X, Moguera, And the G-Force For me it is the best era of the Radioactive Giant with moments of horror, action, battles and emotional moments and yes with comedy The Return of Godzilla 1985 1984 excellent dark and scary reboot Godzilla vs Biollante 1989 excellent sequel and amazing very good Godzilla Vs. King Ghidorah 1991 A great movie and the most entertaining Godzilla Vs. Mothra the battle for earth 1992 the first movie I saw in 1996 when I was a child impressive Godzilla Vs. MechaGodzilla 2 1993 MY FAVORITE and second movie I saw on TV in the 90s Godzilla Vs. SpaceGodzilla 1994 entertaining Godzilla Vs. Destoroyah 1995 movie A true gem and the third movie I saw and the most emotional and worthy closing A great saga and reboot that has aged well long live the king

I love this era and it has a really iconic Godzilla design! and has a more serious tone which I absolutely love and Destoroyah is such a cool villain too! I love the music in this video! Good tribute and great vid as always!

7:26 that will forever be my favorite moment in all of fiction not shadows death in SA2 not captain America vs thanos army not Lee Everett’s final words no heisei Godzilla’s death will forever be it, the emotional roller coaster it puts you through, you watch this monster this mass murderer this representation of nuclear warfare turn into a tragic monster that lost everything it loved gain one last thing to love and have it ripped out of his grasp, he didn’t fight back as humanity began to shoot at him he sat there thinking that even though he won the fight, he lost the one thing that could finally make him happy, every other time the military thought they defeated him they cheered but not this time when he actually passed away, they sat in silence finally accepting that the monster was going through something, the destruction of life. So when he died, he would die in pain never knowing that his death would bring back his son from the dead. Truly the moment that brought me out of a time where I felt emotionless and everytime I watch the scene I cry at least once, that’s why I love godzilla, that’s why he is the symbol that tells us, no matter how strong we are, no matter how many times we try to play god, we will all die some day weather it’s tomorrow or 30 years from now we will all die.

One of my favorite eras, also the best one. The tribute is absolutely awesome, really fits the music as well, you just can't disagree that this is the best goji era of all.

this series was very fun to watch! i just wish more movies like these in the future. All the heisei films are great at their own right!

Easily my favorite Godzilla series. showa series was mostly just fun silly monsters (which I completely respect, it’s hilarious) millennium had good films like GMK or Final Wars, but they couldn’t stop with the reboots which didn’t make a consistent story. Monsterverse had cool CGI and a nice Godzilla redesign, but follows with a lot of the same old tropes with modern Hollywood movies, and CGI doesn’t have some the joy as suitmation. But Heisei was the perfect blend of these, serious when it needs to be but still goofy at times, epic suitmation that isn’t too unrealistic but is still fun and fascinating to watch.

A thing to respect about Heisei is trying to maintain a serious tone (which didn't always work but that's another matter) while having monster fights. I don't like the false dichotomy that serious Goji films have to have him as a solo antagonist especially because Toho made him an emotionless statue, thank God that Minus One had him more active. The Monsterverse meanwhile fell off hard in recent years. People scream "modern Showa" but it's nowhere as charming or creative (also people think showa= Godzilla vs Megalon) . Showa silliness is very different from modern Holloywood silliness. I wish we had more movies like Biollante. Monsters fight but isn't brainless slop.
