on Ham radio nation with Josh last week there was a neat game that was created for the Quartzsite ham fest. It used Aprs and other uses of armature radio to play a RPG game

I still have a Kenwood D72 handheld radio. I got it a while back when I 1st got into amateur radio. I actually have it set into a holder with AGPS attachment and I have the whole thing rigged up with the power connectors to be able to plug it up on a car adapter. However, I haven't used it in many years.

Just some shameless plugs for Mobilinkd I have one of their version 3 TNC, and have ordered version 4. I would like to add, I am building the Nucleo TNC using Mobilinkd PCB and case along with parts from Mouser, and DigiPart. I also am lucky enough to own the Kenwood TM-D710G, and the TH-D72A. I am an early adopter with the original yellow eTrex and the Kenwood TH-D7. Both stiil work perfectly.

APRS is cool and direwolf is easy to connect to YAAC (orXaster) to get mapping. Also most APRS radios can output data to YAAC to see a map as well. You can do even more but mapping is fun. Both run on a Raspberry pi and its easy to get both running with GPS for a portable tracking, digipeating, even an igate.

Hi Hayden & Teo ( hope I got the spelling right ).😊 Just found a full hour to sit & watch the APRS video, hmm I think I'll play with WSPR & FT8 etc for a bit longer. Hayden oh yes please Aircraft / Aviation comms my absolute favorite I've been into listening to & tracking aircraft on HF, VHF, Optus Sat & Inmarsat for years now & absolutely love it, ive got just about a full time HFDL ( HF Data Link ) software decoder running on 10.084U from Auckland & regularly on VHF ACARS 131.550 fairly regularly here here in Melbourne we hear reasonable Avcomms comes both via Airservices towers & direct comms from Tassie including from:- 121.500 Macquarie Island, 130.350 Launceston 133.350 Burnie 120.700 Devonport 118.700 Mt. Barrow 123.800 Mt. Barrow 124.000 Mt. Tassie 126.500 Mt. Barrow Love listening to Aircraft Around Aust on H.F. 6.565U as well as oceanic on 3467U, 5643U, 8867U, 13261U whilst not as busy as it once used to be it still does spring back to life occasionaly as well as all the Volmets from various locations around the world. I regularly have 2 x screens running FR24 ( Flight Radar24 ) & ADSB Exchange ( its quiet interestung what shows up on ADSB Exchange that ( doesn't show up ), is "Blocked" on FR24. I used to do Selcal decoding but sadly as the Selcal decoding software fell into disrepair or ( Abandonware) & Windows moved on sadly that sort of fell by the way side. One of the great things about the net today is that you can listen to, decode & even watch Aircraft that you are listening to, decoding from & tracking in real time via the Live Cam in Canberra & via the Sydsquad Syd & Gold Coast youtube channels when it is streamed all via the net which yes I know sort of defeats the Radio Subject but ha its still fun & allows people that don't or cant have the necessary comms gear to do it to still partake in the Hobby ( sort of a bit like WSPR & FT8 ) I'M sure Hayden you have all the resources at your finger tips but if I can be of any help please let me know. Otherwise Hayden don't hold back Avcomms is an awesome subject that surprisingly a lot of people of all ages are into & dependent on how far you want to go you could do several episode's on. The Kenwood 710 is a great APRS radio.

I passed my tech test at hsv ham fest and got a kenwood d710a from a local cber that afternoon im trying to find other hams to message to lol. its a bit of a pain but way easer then my ft3d.

Do I need to loan you a HG UV98 for a bit Hayden? Would love to make a QSO with you either via VHF or HF. We had a crossband HF/VHF system when we did our Canning Stock Route trip which allowed people to message us while hiking very far away from VHF coverage.
