Warren, you are the man! Watching you take that wheel off reminded me of when I spun socket circles on an aluminum rim. I was a high school kid working at a tire shop and didn't realize the standoff depth and used the wrong socket. The truck owner was not happy but thankfully the boss paid to have them polished out and didn't grief me at all.

Storms and fires kind of go together. The uplift from the fires moves air further up in the air column than seasonal air does. It takes surface ionization with it. if that build up to a high enough differential, the air gap closes as the differential charges seek equilibrium. Burning vegetable matter includes water vapor as a product of combustion; the soot creates an point that chills below dew point to collect that water vapor. The uplift then (esp. in mountainous areas) carries the combo to an altitude where it freezes, building up more water vapor. This repeats in the updrafts until the ice fragment is to heavy to be liften any more, and it falls through the warmer air, where it melts into a rain droplet. Sometimes this combines to create a small convective storm, or it just rains itself out where the condition are no longer right enough. It's very micro climate.

I am so glad my truck has Disc brakes, when i lose a seal it doesn't get all over the pads and super easy to change out pads too... I wish more people would power wash after a blown seal, my stupid mechanics use ether to clean everything and wonder why i need new sight glass hubs after i've pulled the plug a few hundred times to check the oil because i cant see through the frosted plastic from ether.

Not sure if you have the mechanics version, but I've used one of those long Irwin woodworking squeeze clamps, you flip around the handle so its an inside clamp instead of outside, then you can push and hold brake/clutch/throttle with a good amount of adjustment and pressure.

For a state that burns every year California sure has some crazy emission requirements.
@xoxo2008oxox
@xoxo2008oxox 4 года назад
The problem is that the population is stuck in a coastal valley or in a valley between mountain ranges. The inversion from pollution (fires, transport, manufacturing and agriculture) means that unless California reduces it, its gonna get worse. Although I feel bad for small operators, its the 50+ fleets that seem to be targeted. But don't agree with me, as I hate the tandem drivers around here: no longer decent folks but idiots that text and speed with 20+ tons of gravel. Already had one guy that was sleep-deprived run into someone's home!
@Jasonhb07
@Jasonhb07 4 года назад
@@xoxo2008oxox You sound like you know what you're talking about. Do you have text I can read? I would assume forest fires occurring over the course of millennia would outstrip pollution caused by fuel-burning machines that have only been in existence (in the West Coast) for say 150 years. California's emission requirements don't make sense to me. Manufacturing machines produce a significant amount of pollution. Taking these machines out of service and recycling them also produces pollution. These emission requirements significantly reduce the service life of these machines making it necessary to produce more in shorter and shorter time periods. Not to mention the fact that these regulations have completely decimated small businesses and independent operators. Unfortunately, California emissions are being used as a model in other states, further destroying industry. The cost-benefit doesn't seem to add up. Maybe all the "pollution" in the air has caused Californians to developmental disorders in the form of socialism. In that case, I'm all for strict emissions regulations if it solves the sickness!

@@Jasonhb07 Different type of pollution Bit like v The icelandic volcano that put more co2 into the atmosphere that man kind ever has The bigger problem is particularly for California and similar coastal city's with mountain boardering The pollution stays right over the city it doesn't get blown away And it's not co2 that's the main issue it's the nox, culters and other gasses produced from burning oils Weather or not we're altering the environment beyond its natural cycles is debatable But locally without any regulations it gets messy quick Look at the smog over some Asian city's Or los angeles 1970s

I sure dont miss doing wheel seals on the heavy cast steel Malco/spider hubs that were common in Australia for a long time before 10 stud wheels took over. The spacer between bearings is a good thing, provided you can get them torqued up correctly. Volvo hubs need 500 ft/lb !

The only thing I didn't understand was on the case you saying I need to wash it before he comes and get it. Geez, do any of these people clean anything up before that send it to you. I have always cleaned stuff and disassembled stuff before a service tech came. I feel stupid paying someone $100 per hour to remove some sheet metal, to blow off the equipment, or wash it off. That's just me though. I started to learn how to fix everything because if I wasn't making those wages doing what I was doing how could I justify paying someone else to take the time to do the basic things.
