The bells of Derby Cathedral 

Lovely bells! They made an impact on me when I rang here in 2001 and it's good to have a good quality recording to capture how good they are especially for such an old set.

What a grand old ring. I really like these.

@mittagsglocke It is the effect of my awful camera... it does not function well with artificial light.

@Whittingtons Indeed, the tenor here is 9Hz higher in pitch than the tenor at Coventry which is 33-3-6!

@Whittingtons Grand bells indeed. Try Purton near Swindon thougbh - slightly heavier at 20cwt in C#, they sound really good for such a mix of founders, but they require a lot more work!! :-)

@irkibby I suppose its because they are that old- not to mention a Seliok tenor! You could certainly imagine how different a brand new 19cwt ten would sound.

A wonderful ring. What's the green light in the tower?

@mittagsglocke At St Mark Swindon we have ghastly white floodlighting on the nave, orange for the tower and louvres, and blue for the spire!! It is an eyesore, and you can't see the blue on the spire, the most prominent landmark of the church, whereas you can see the white and orange too well, unfortunately!!! :/

@mittagsglocke The green at the very top? I think it is just the floodlighting.

@irkibby A white light is better. The green light looks ugly :-/
