Shaugh Prior, Dartmoor, Devon:
Video footage shows the Shaugh Prior bellringers practising the "Sixty-on-Thirds" on their own bells on Sunday 8 June 2014. The ringing featured is a practise preparation for the 2014 Devon Association 6-Bell Final which will be held at Sampford Courtenay on Saturday 14 June 2014. The test-piece to be rung in the final will involve rising the bells in peal, ringing the "Sixty-on-Thirds" and lowering the bells in peal in no less than 15 minutes. 12 teams have qualified for the Devon Final. This comprises the 6 best teams from North Devon and the 6 best teams from South Devon.
Unfortunately, the video quality is not that good due to the setting sun in the west window...

Thanks Henry for your kind words. Shaugh Prior are a very good six but a very long draught and it doesn't sound like it from this video but they aren't particularly clear in the ringing chamber which makes them quite tricky! Once again, we appreciate your kind comments

As a "scientific" Ringer I would have difficulty judging competition ringing of this standard. A delight to listen to - but you ARE on your own bells (lol)

hi Unix need, we tend to always ring up and own in rounds as that is what we have to do at competitive level but yes rising up in Queens has been done before and sometimes reversals but not particularly frequently

Hi Sydney, this type of ringing is called Devon call changes, it is very different to method or scientific ringing as u may know it, method ringing you have the pause break in our type of ringing it is a continuous circle. If u ring maybe give it a go sometime, it's well worth it!
