The warm dry weather had resulted in the sallies being lower than practicable for using the larger box. You can see the normal box on its side behind. I think ideally, a box which is half way between the two in size would be most comfortable and result in less rope coiling on the ground while ringing. What is really disappointing ringing there is the quality of the internal sound given that they are such a magnificent peal. When ringing all twelve, there is insufficient clarity to get the best striking (watch the lovesguide Towcester clip to see what near-perfect acoustics sounds like) and the bells lack the presence inside that you'd expect from bells of that weight and quality. The great shame is that it would be so easy to fix just by partially opening a trapdoor or two.
ah yes. I've rung all twelve there and it's not easy to hear them, but the back six and the tenor certainly have some presence! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-d7hn1zmJZ1k.html
