One of the "My Room" lines with this guy in Fate/Grand Order is " *Ga...la...Had* " if you have Shielder in the party with him. Even maddened, he can still sense his son's power. Dad of the Year.
*I am the shunned. The scorned. The despised.* *My name is unworthy of praise. My body unworthy of envy.* *I am the shadow cast by the Heroic Spirit's light. The darkness born in the shadow of shining legend.* *Thus do I hate. Thus do I resent.* *I feed on the lamentation of those who sing into darkness and curse those who shine so brightly.* *Her shadow is my shame. Her honor remains forever unsullied. Thus am I forever looked down upon.*
This song actually makes me cry a little. It just gives of a sense of tired futility, like a person near their deathbed who can only shake and desperately try to speak as he feels his life and self slip away. This truly is the song appropriate for Lancelot, the poor fool, desperately wanting to be punished for his crimes against the woman he loved even more than Guinevere, and yet he died alone, weak and knowing that at the heart of it all, he along with Mordred were the reasons behind the fall of Camelot and the Death of the True King of the Britons.
its pretty much him superimposing the real myth with the info we have from the series. That's pretty much all we can do is mix the fact with the legends from the myths. It's also the reason why Lancelot can be summoned as a zerker and a saber. During his time as a KotRT he upheld the true values of a knight. When he feel from grace and was excommunicated from the knights and he fell to insanity for a period, once he regained his sanity he became a monk and never spoke again. Hence why he has madness enhancement EX and it takes Artoria for him to even form what little words he could.
@@alexpluskett241 If you watch the miniseries "Einzbern Consultation Room" it hints quite a bit he had more than platonic feelings for Arturia, being one of the few in Camelot who knew "his" (read: Arturia's) secret. Now if you take this and throw in that the original mythos made it a bit unclear as to which of the two, Lancelot or Gwenevere, were the instigator in their adultery and feelings of it, it also implies that he was trying to give Gwen a release from lying by ironically taking up another lie. Gwen was basically the woman he could have and if discovered, he would be punished as he wished for betraying his king and friend. If he were to try and pursue Arturia, it would have resulted in her being de-throned if her secret got out.
The most memorable thing I will remember about Lancelot as Berserker is of how he utterly said FUCK YOU twice to Gilgamesh in Fate/Zero first by bruising his ego in the SaberxLancer fight and then by shooting him down and then not even acknowledging his presence after seeing Saber on the river its like even with the intense insanity he's still as completely capable of using his full abilities as he did in his life
He was a rather OP Berserker. If he had a stronger Master he could have had a very good chance. Heck, if he had a Master like Illya he would have probably been stronger than all of them in terms of raw power and abilities, ignoring Gil's "I Win" button.
Lancelot probably STILL would've won in a typical Grail war. He's a Knight of the Round, and even the weakest of them can beat the shit out of a normal servant. He just got unlucky that EVERYONE summoned was in the same league as him and he had a below average master. Though imagine if the war was in France or Britain.
@@anthonyallmond3682 No. The STRONGEST is Gawain or Arthur, Lancelot is the most SKILLED. In terms of strength, the living Lancelot most likely wasn't THAT much stronger than a common person. He just wields a magic sword, and does so with abnormal precision and finesse even amongst Master swordsmen. However, as a Servant, due to how exalted he is and how famous he is- he boasts power far beyond any normal person. However, compared to Gawain, Lancelot is still only average in terms of power output and raw stats.
This is the song of a confused soul, wandering, wanting love, and punishment, feeling guilt, sorrow, and want, not knowing what to do or where to go or who to talk to. It makes you feel bad for lancelot, because he's almost like the hulk in a way, like a child who needs to be comforted and told that it will all be ok
This piece of music is filled with lamentation and the maddening desire to be resolved of his sins. Though he is no longer sane, he is not bereft of his martial prowess and the glory of battle shall not escape him. Once again he shall be summoned onto the battlefield to do battle with the greatest heroes of every era. It is not merely a reincarnation of the greatest knight ever, but a continuation of a legend, the invincible knight of the lake, Lancelot.
Meh, Herakles was superior to Lancelot despite Lance being awesome and all - the issue is that Berserkers are generally inferior to other class versions of the same hero - a saber Lancelot would be godly and Herakles as any other class (the only one he doesn't qualify for is Caster iirc) would have access to more abilities and would be able to form better battle plans. Archer Herakles would kill Gilgamesh from range rather than advance while getting hammered by weapons from the vault, imo.
MyVanir berserker is SUPPOSE to be a class for weaker heroes that trade in skill for power. But both times the hero summoned into berserker class bypassed that, with Heracles having demi-god strength and Lancelot retaining his skill through . My point of Illya-Lancelot combo is because of his mana consumption, bar Dark Sakura she is the only one who could allow him to fight to his full potential, having Saber class attributes boosted by Mad Enhancement, and even further with Arondight.
Knight of Honor isnt the perfect counter to Gate of Babylon as many believe. God (Nasu) said that Lancelot limit was at avoiding about 30 weapons at once, more would kill him. Besides many of those weapons are actually divine mysteries with unknown effects, ranging from ´´spirit´´ scythes that ignore any protection and drain magical energy rather than harming to swords that freeze space itself.
SarzaelX Noted, I only found out about that recently as well, but I think the only issue here would be the quantity, not property, as KoH would nullify the ones that he grab, and just discarding and redrawing a new weapon to fit the situation. Then again, that's to assume GoB doesn't contain weapons that "cannot be stolen" or "cannot switch ownership" which knowing that A rank Golden Rule, most likely does.
To be fair, Kariya and Lancelot/Berserker were both holding each other back. Zouken probably did that on purpose (likes watching Kariya suffer). Berserker class takes massive amounts of energy, is known to kill their masters on occasion, and is exceedingly hard to control. Kariya couldn't give Berserker all the mana he needed to overpower everyone. Berserker strained Kariya to the point of making him deteriorate much more quickly. They should have had different partners. Very bad match.
His fate was written long before Zero. In the VN they have a little note when describing the Berserker class, and it says every master of Berserker has died from mana consumption. Makes me a little sad that Lancelot got done dirty by history meaning he was sort of gimped from the get go.
Kariya should be with a Caster. Kariya didn't need to go all that training. He can just summon a Caster . A Caster doesn't require alot of mana. Zouken is just an asshole and decide to give him berserker.
@@zanwrightmfwr756 indeed. they just wanted to be with their children again, they wanted their families to be together once more: Sakura and the Matoes/Tohsakas for Kariya, and Gallahad for Lancelot. but, unfortunately, not everyone gets a happy ending in Fate, and NO ONE GOT ONE IN FATE/ZERO(save for Waver, but he was traumatized)!
This song gives such a feeling of despair and yet a twisted kind of hope. Like the weight of the world's on your shoulders but it will all be over soon. A melancholy requiem for all you hold dear. A wish for the merciful end.
You mean in the anime or the visual novel? He got a little more backstory in the VS, but I still think he should have gotten a little more protagonism, same for Kariya. The poor guy died like a dog and it seems nobody ever gave a fuck about him, even though he was one of the most sympathetic characters IMO.
I love the feeling of tragedy, abandon and insanity this gives but it doesn't convey the feeling of violence that is normally associated with The Berserker class.
@ReroOnyx i remember in the the UBW route before Archer and Shirou fought, when Shinji and Gilgamesh came and Archer and Gilgamesh where actually in the same room. I remember Archer even saying to Shinji something like "If you insist on taking RIn then i suppose i should defeat you here",This suggests to me that Archer seems very confident that he can win against Gilgamesh. But then again Gilgamesh just calls Archer a "clown" w/c suggests to me that he is underestimating Archer.
True enough, hahaha, plus he's a Heroic Spirit, if I'm correct destroying the world would basically mean destroying himself. He mostly modifies it, the one moment he uses the world destroying ability was when he used it to basically completely own Rider by destroying his Reality Marble. I was pretty sad with the lack of focus on Berserker in Fate/Zero. His backstory and connection to Saber are essential to understand Saber's reasons for wanting herself erased from history.
Broken phantasms dont always cost a huge amount of mana, it really depends on the weapon. It's explicitly stated that caladabolg II, which has rank A power output, actually costs very little mana, which is why archer spams it so much. The main barrier to other servants using BP is the fact that for most servants other than archer their weapon will be permanently destroyed.
Pretty sure the reason he cannot recreate them is because they are not from this world. He could recreate the King's Sword (Calibur) just fine and that sword was powerful in it's own right. And he can recreate pretty much every sword Gil has in his treasury aside Ea. But Ea is the creation sword and a planet destroyer, it's beyond the scope of men. Excalibur was enchanted by faires and is of Fairie creation, so same rule applies. He kinda has a connection to Ex but the sword would be a dud.
Okiayu Ryoutarou voices him, right? The same guy who voiced Zero of the Megaman X series, Dark Mousy of D.N.Angel, Byakuya of Bleach, and Treize Kushrenada of Gundam Wing...AWESOME!
This the theme of when you commit NTR for what you thought were good reasons, expect to be punished, aren't, and it leads to the destruction of your entire homeland.
Wiki says : "It is Berserker's true Noble Phantasm, which seals For Someone's Glory and Knight of Honor once it is drawn." Eternal Arms Mastership should be a skill, not a noble phantasm. So here we have an insane swordsman with essentially beyond-perfect swordsmanship skill wielding a formerly holy blade that is actually indestructible. That also does additional damage to dragons. Saber's body is part dragon. She is screwed.
Yeah,in the anime. I read the parts about him in the Novel and he was given a decent amount of space and backstory contrary to the anime where they gave him just a slight touch at the very end, almost like an after thought as if they realized they could have used that waste of an episode given to Chibi!Rin to a more important character. Even Gilgamesh's backstory got cut, poor ENkidu was never to be seen.
@vergilheartnet evidence here: At Miyama, the underground basement of the Tōsaka manor was currently surrounded by a bitterly stifling silence. “That Noble Phantasm of Rider’s…what is its power level?” Heavily speaking into the communicator, Tokiomi asked Kirei. “The same rank as Gilgamesh’s Gate of Babylon. In other words, Rank EX.” A sigh followed.
On the other hand, we don't know what Galahad might do as a servant, but Lancelot managed to not get killed by Gawain from midday until sundown so that he actually hurt the guy . . .
@vergilheartnet Plus, Gilgamesh's Independent Action (A) basically allows hims to do whatever he pleases for a few days without a master. including the supply of Prana given to him. He can basically use his noble phantasms whenever he wants and he does. After defeating Iskander and facing Saber, she notes that not a single thing was wrong Gilgamesh. No wounds or even a sign that he was hurt or tired. Kotomine never showed even an ounce of the same magical skill of his mentor.
@8dolfonrunescape Eye of the Mind (True) allows Archer to predict any and all outcomes of the situation in battle. It doesn't just "give him a 1% chance of victory," it allows him to effectively see into the the future and choose the best action that would achieve the greatest result. This is why he leaves so many openings in his attacks, so that he can have the greatest number of results to choose from.
@8dolfonrunescape Counter to all of your cases in order: Lancer: Gae Dearg is useless against Knight of Honor; If Berserker is holding a random object and Lancer uses Gae Dearg to cut it, only the part cut off will be affected by Gae Dearg. Gilgamesh: Yes, Ea can kill him, but Gil would never stoop to that level to kill a mongrel. Saber: When Berserker drew Arondight, in exchange for losing KoH and FSG, all of his stats went up 2 ranks plus grants him a damage bonus to things (continued)
The theme for mfs who indirectly caused the fall of their country, try to atone themselves by helping the guy they betrayed and NTRed only to be refused, go insane, then kill the guy that caused the whole revolt and fall of your country, and presumably die in a ditch somewhere. Also replace guys with gals in the text above but put in quotations because fate lore.
@vergilheartnet "according to the magecraft teaching result report obtained from Tōsaka Tokiomi, Kotomine Kirei’s level of magecraft learning had not progressed beyond the degree of a beginner" This is a statement taken from the Fate/Zero Novel directly indicating that yes, Kotomine's magic basically sucks. Also that nowhere during the fight with Kiritsugu is the notion of Kotomine's prana growing weaker due to Gil's use of his NPs stated.
@megadragonblade While your Arthurian mythology is correct, in the movie that odaniels was referring to, they decided to conflate Excalibur and Caliburn into the same sword; it's only one among several liberties with the legend that the movie decided to take (in large part for the sake of time), like having Percival be the one whom King Arthur orders to throw the sword back into the lake, instead of Bedivere.
Pure stat and skill wise, Berserker ver. zero is the most powerful servant, with the strength, endurance of A, mana of C, luck of B, and agility of A+. The lack of mana can be cover by the master if the master is good of it. Luck can be backup by his passive skill "Protection of the Fairies". Furthermore, his noble phantasm Arondight can boost all his parameters 1 rank, makes him a brutal killing machine. But of course, stat and skill may not determine a winner
@8dolfonrunescape this is why i said Berserker had an advantage since ilya's castle is an enclosed area, and the fact that Archer had to keep Berserker from going after rin and co. He could'nt really create much distance and use many of his range attacks. So for Archer to beat Berserker, what he needs is more range, since he doesn't have a NP to disable Berserkers movements like Enkidu
@MrQvmateo and again, that's why Shirou kept up the constant offensive against gilgamesh. He had to keep up that pressure and not let Gilgamesh actually collect himself or get his act back together. He fully admits that if Gil gets his composure, he'll lose.
@megadragonblade There is a story where Lancelot defeated a certain knight with a freaking tree branch. This ability stems from that story. It's called "Knight of Honor". It's a natural counter to Gilgamesh's gate, as he can wield all the freaking weapons from Gil's gate and use them as if it were his favorite weapon.
@MrQvmateo I wouldn't use Wiki as a source if possible but you are right. Shirou is capable of firing off his blades. The use of Nine Lives was done because of the grafting of Archer's arm because of the shared link they have. It's what allows him to use Archer's powers in HF in the first place and utilize those abilities. Likewise in UBW, Shirou is able to gain more experience while fighting Archer.
@DarkCedon Actually, that wouldn't do much, as Berserker's power to wield any weapon turns it into a D-ranked Noble Phantasm, even if originally it was stronger. So, no, no complete destruction of everything in sight.
@vergilheartnet Also Kotmine used his specialized martial arts by putting all of his power into the palms of his hands and basically splitting the tree in half. It's the outcome of a man who has trained his body to the utmost limit. He's a powerful man physically...but he still sucks in magic.
As a general rule, a weapon traced by archer is a rank down from the original while a broken phantasm amps up the atk power of the weapon used by one rank so it cancels out. However, the rank-down rule only applies to weapons that archer insta-replicates just by looking at it, it does not apply to weapons of his own design, weapons that he has modified(caladbolg II), or weapons he uses reinforcement on(kansho and bakuya). Those can and do exceed the original's power.
@ReroOnyx Archer's cape is actually , u can call it an armour itself, its capable to resist magic and others as well, and also, like i said, Stats have no means when it comes to deciding whos gona win
@ReroOnyx umm, dude, Did u even read what i just said??? his connection with Anra Mainyu allows him to use the "black sticky thing from the grail" , its kinda a powerful dark magic, which traps the enemy inside and torture them, and yes, Kotomine was bathed in the Holy grail and he obtained a new body afterwards at the end of Fate Zero
@DemonicDrone Eternal Arms Mastership Prevents degradation of fighting skills when under the effect of mental hindrance. A+: Mastership of combat arts has reached the point of being said to be unrivaled in one's era. By complete merging of mind, body and technique, it is possible to make use of full fighting skills even when under the influence of any sort of mental hindrance. this is why he is OP :3
@Shaderball Ahh. The common plight of many readers and many Type-Lunatics is this argument right here. Remember, if he used UBW then he would have had access to Caliburn, which would kill Heracles 7 times, and some more if he sword rained him. Effectively, this could have been done if he targeted Illya, who Berserker would no doubt protect. He didn't want to, so he saw no need for UBW, which would only cost him more energy.
@ReroOnyx what MrQvmateo said is true, his theory is absolutely correct, in terms of power and strenght, Gilgamesh is the strongest, but Victory is not determined by just sheer strength, but strategy , Shirou using his tracing abilities, can attack faster and kill Gilgamesh before he has the chance to use Ea
@MrQvmateo you also have to keep in mind that shirou has plot hax and luck on his side in all routes archer was going serious cuz he asked rin if he could kill it (berserker) Gil has all NPs 1 rank higher than archer so he could kill zerker way easier but he woulda been destroyed if he didnt use enkidu to bind zerker before he charged him down broken phantasm uses up a huge load of prana and takes time and even then only ups them by 1 rank
@DawnBlader Yeah I was referring to the anime, guess they took more liberties than I thought. I remember Ilya said "He actually managed to kill Berserker... Is he materialising his Noble Phantasm?", and after K&B Overedge, as you called it, he has the "skinless head" that he would always have after having his head destroyed. Never been able to play UBW, the only copy of F/SN I ever had would always freeze before the end of it. As such, never played HF either T___T!
@ReroOnyx hmm i believe that statement was one of Riders internal monologues? i think Rider was just jumping to a conclusion there cuz he thought that not knowing that Berserker actually used his noble phantasm "A Knight Does Not Die with Empty Hands" in defending against GoB. My understanding of that statement is that Rider mistakenly deduced that Berserker was defending without using any NP and was just defending because of high agility and endurance.
@8dolfonrunescape shattered his mind cuz he used Archers UBW to project and trace 9 lives instead of his own and because Shirou and Archers paths in life were now vastly different, Archers arm rejected Shirou and caused the mind shattering, it was not due to the tracing of 9 lives. if you didn't know Archer/Shirou uses UBW even when its not deployed, his projection method is just summoning weapons outside UBW. UBW is the only magic Shirou/Archer can use.
@MrQvmateo Lastly, Unlimited Blade Works requires a lot more prana than Gate of Babylon. Stated to be 2-3 times as much prana needed to use the NP actually. It's shown too after the battle as Shirou basically collapases, exausted and tired. Back to Fate/Zero Gil uses both the full power of Babylon, the full power of Ea, plus Enkidu and doesn't show any problems or tiredness at all.
@TruAlvel continued “… Do you really hate me so much, my friend…? Even if you have become as such… Do you hate me so much, Knight of the Lake?!”In that instant, the young girl who always maintained her glory to the very end, who fought for honor to the very last-That was the instant in which she was defeated.
@thorahn96 No, Berserker's Master was the Matou of the 4th War. Ilya just likes her Berserker because he 'took care of her' better than her family did. Berserker is a completely different character, anyways. And it does tell you a bit about Ilya's backstory, but only in terms of Kiritsugu and Irisviel (Ilya's mother, who was NOT a Master in the War), and even then not in very much detail. Focus is very much on Kirisugu, Saber, and slightly on Kirei.
@vergilheartnet The difference is that a serious Gil is able to smash you into a pulp before you even open your mouth to chant the name of your noble phantasm, no matter who or what you are. His problem is that he does not allow himself to go all-out on just anybody due to his pride. That's why he will lose against Archer. Did you see how easily he wiped out Iskandar without a blink of an eye in Zero? You probably didn't.
@MrQvmateo That is in fact his one major weakness, his pride and arrogance. It's that arrogance which keeps him from going all out against opponents and thus leads to his defeats. Assuming Gilgamesh was watching the fight between Lancer and Archer (can't recall) while he'll be able to know their moves and sets, he still wouldn't know their stats unless his master told him. *cont*
@soul1112 The Berseker Zero is one of the strongest servants, he cant fight Heracles cause the God Hand, but you can be shure of this, he can kill almost any other Servant of the war.
@vergilheartnet We can get rid of stats if you want, it won't change anything. Saber can barely handle a non-serious Gilgamesh at all. When he uses 47 NPs, she's struck continuously. that's about half of Gilgamesh's full power. I already posted the quote about Zero Bersker and Gate of Babylon on here so you can look it up or better yet read the novel. And yes, Gilgamesh has used Ea against Shirou during the UBW route in the visual novel.
@vergilheartnet Don't forget, by the time Gilgamesh faces Iskander, Tokiomi is no longer his master, it's Kotomine. The latter who doesn't have nearly the same skill as a magus than the former. Gilgamesh used the true power of Ea, opened the Gates Of Babylon to over a hundred weapons and used Enkindu without so much as breaking a sweat, while his master was Kotomine.
@8dolfonrunescape Archer is pretty much known to lie and be deceitful , he lied to Rin about losing his memories, He even betrayed rin and joined caster in order to backstab caster and get a his chance to kill Shirou. So he may just wanted to reassure Rin when he told her if he could kill Berserker, but instead took the chance to leave the Grail War cuz he no longer wanted to kill the Shirou in the fate route and just accepted Shirou just by visiting him at his Shed at some nights in the VN.
@MrQvmateo Alright, I did myself a little more resarch, and looked at the VN again. It's stated that attacks of the "highest caliber" are capable of bypassing God Hand. We can assume that this means 'A" ranked weapons because by it's nature, EX weaons while higher are also undefinable. By that logic alone, Archer (Who killed Berserker six times and without UBW in the VN if IRC) must have an "A" ranked weapon or higher.
@DawnBlader Technically, I never said Lancelot would use Nine Lives. But Nine Lives is definitely not an ability of the sword, it was from Berserker's bow. This is a thing that's hard though, because there's no way to know how many lives the Alondite could do to Berserker. One thing though, is that what if he was to use broken phantasms? That might be able to damage Berserker. It might take a command seal, but I would be surprised if Berserkers weren't inclined towards using them, as Berserkers.
@MrQvmateo When back and personally re-read the fight just to make sure. Rider doesn't make the assumption himself but is overall idea basically shared by everyone or a narratoin itself of the story itself.
@vergilheartnet Also note that unlike Gate of Babylon, Unlimited Blade Works takes any weapon and reduces it it by one rank. GoB however gets stronger the more wealth the user has. Also, Enkindu might not have the necessary effect on Shirou with him being a non-divine being, but its still a chain and Shirou is still a human. If your body is haltered at any time, its going to put Shirou on the losing end. *cont*
@8dolfonrunescape (continued from previous post) with a the attribute of Dragon (which is Saber's attribute.) The only reason he lost was because the stat boosts drained Kariya's mana in ten seconds. Any longer and he would have won. Rider: Eternal Arms Mastership would allow him to not only dodge their attacks, but steal their weapons, use KoH, and work his way to Rider. Caster: The Fighter Jet.
@DawnBlader maybe, but I'm still pretty sure Berserker remarks upon getting lolpwned by Shiro's fake Excalibur that he lost 7 lives from the attack. He loses 1 from Rin's failed ambush (head blown off), which leaves him with 4. Archer said he's going to take 2 with Unlimited Blade Works, so assuming Archer kept his word, that leaves us with 2 deaths unaccounted for, and those two attacks were the only actually decisive ones made... lol maths
i agree about the prana cost being higher but about a Broken noble phantasm being able to pierce God Hand or if it would beat an original if they we're both shot out, i'd say it could do those things because you get the same attack power + an explosion.
@8dolfonrunescape Well that was what happened in the anime version as Ilya said when Archer shot Berserker with a BP, "Berserker was actually forced to defend". And Berserker's Mind's Eye(fake) is still active even if he is mad enhanced as it relies more on instinct. Berserker may have intinctively defended himself against Archer's BP
@vergilheartnet Yes, if the creator itslef states something, unless it's contradicted or reinstated somehow, you have to take it by word. Having skill and magic are two totally different things. A persons skill means jack to the amount of prana needed for a servant. Kotomine's apparent skill provided nothing for Gilgamesh, at all. The only thing Kotominhe provides Gilgamesh is prana to stay in the world. *Cont*
