Got a G2c, cheap, love it. Haven’t fired it yet. I have always traded up, until now. Can’t wait to compare it to my $1k guns. I already put a silk purse on it, red dot.
I have the same exactly pistol and already put several hundred rounds of ammunition from different brands and so far had no problems whatsoever and I have to say that I really do not take the best care or give the best maintenance to my guns. 2 thumbs up for this one !!
The Taurus G2 MILLENNIUM 9MM was originally sold for 350 to 375 Dollars the price has come down..to 200 dollars..mine has almost 1,000 Rounds through it absolutely no problems..use 124 grain full metal Jackets...one of the very best 9MM out their today awesome Gun
Well, this young fellow is one of they FEW people that understands the trigger! HE actually explained it correctly! I've carried since very early 70's. I'm a 1911 guy. I carry this gun everyday. I LIKE the thumb safety! For me, being a 1911 guy I "sweep" down the slide with my thumb from habit of carrying a 1911. Wherever I see frame wear or slide wear I dab some lithium grease (red) on the area. This is one of the VERY few Tautus products that every major You-Tube channel has said, "Not the greatest trigger but a good gun"! Hickok45 has a video on it! Be well, Be safe!
Really nice non-bias review of a budget handgun that is absolutely worth every penny. It was one of the first handguns I bought and have hundreds of rounds through it with absolutely NO PROBLEMS. I have compared it to some very good expensive handguns my family owns (Sigs, Springfields, Kahr) and everyone who has handled and fire my PT111 Millenium G2 say it is a nice quality and reliable gun. It is one of my concealed carry handguns which means I am trusting my life it will fire if I am ever in a position to use it. I would recommend it to anyone who can't afford spending more $250 but would like a nice, reliable handgun. Sorry to those who do not like Taurus but remember, everyone cannot afford a Sig, Canik or yes, a Glock, like some of us can so don't knock a nice handgun that someone on a budget can afford.
Sir, I have watched so many reviews of this gun, and BY FAR, this is the most detailed, comprehensive, and honest review that I have seen. I've had my reservations about an inexpensive firearm, especially concealed carry or home protection, BUT your HONEST presentation and forthright opinion has clearly set my sights on purchasing this weapon! Thank you! -Steve-
Its great for me. Its my edc and i have lots of popular handguns in the market in my collection. No problems at all never failed. I use winchester red box 115 grain at range and for protection i use 124 grain hst.
I have to agree this is a great review, especially with the trigger explanation. So many others have totally explained it incorrectly, whether they liked it or not. I carry this gun quite a bit when I want a step up from a single stack. I'm too small to comfortably carry a full size comfortably. I also live in a state with a 15rnd mag limit so this fits the bill nicely. I have polished the rough spots and correctly applied fog lube, make the metal hot, to the barrel and inside of the slide to reduce wear and easier cleaning since I shoot it at least once a week.
I have this in gray polymer with the black slide and it hasn’t let me down yet with around 200 rounds through it so far. Thinking about carrying this when I want to give my Springfield XDs a break.
Great lil budget gun...I plan to get one so I can show this to my students as a first gun option. I train a lot of first time shooters that are on a budget and this will be a very nice gun with and external safety. The safety is a negative for me but I know it gives new gun owners a piece of mind.
Gerald Weldin glad you also see it this way! So many experienced shooters believe everybody should hate the safety. But it really matters to the new shooters and often grow out of it. I do prefer a grip safety or striker control device on AIWB Guns personally though! Thanks for the view!
I love this gun - I have 3 of them. That being said, dry fire the tar out of the one you intend to purchase b4 you buy. Taurus is known for poor quality control, but most issues can be discovered before purchase by working the trigger slowly to see if you can induce a failure.
So far I have about 1000+ rounds through my G2. Runs like a top, no hiccups whatsoever. I did put the Lakeline LLC fiber optic sights on it and also the Lakeline recoil spring. Mags are sometimes hard to find (try Academy) but if cannot find them, the SIG P226 mags run fine also. Nice review!
I liked the SKX007 but Long Island Watch had a sale on the Mako so I went for it. Really nice watch. I usually wear it with a SKX band but sometimes swap out with a NATO.
I have to agree, this is a really nice pistol. The grip design is really impressive. I bought a shield first this spring, then this one at cabelas for the 199usd price this summer. I wish I had bought the stainless slide version. Currently carrying the shield, I prefer the trigger on it, also the shield allows full slide operation with the safety on. The pt111 trigger travel is pretty extreme, not a problem if this is your only gun but its a pain if switching between weapons.
Nice explanation of the trigger system on this gun!! As a matter of fact, this is the first review of the many I️ have seen on this gun that I️ didn’t have to talk back/yell at the video correcting the reviewer. Thank you. I️ have watched probably every review on this gun before purchasing. Mine has been flawless in its operation. I️ will be getting the Lakeline recoil assembly down the road but for now it’s good. I️ really love shooting it off the short reset and it seemed to get better as time and the round count go’s on. I️ have not has 1 FTF or FTE. Limp wrist? Not even 1. Now I’m going to have to try and make one occur. I️ looked at the Shield in 9mm, but I️ didn’t like the super skinny grip and super low round count for CCW, however I️ do like the slightly bigger grip on the 45!! The round count is still low but I️ have been a 45 fanboy for many years. With the 45 I️ could get over the low round count, it is a very nice slim package for CCW.
I am contemplating purchasing one for my son as his first centerfire pistol. It appears small enough to fit his hand and think it would be perfect for him. Thanks for a great review.
It should be great! I was very impressed by the little thing. Just be sure to follow all local laws on the transfer! (**Stated only for the RU-vid police......**)
James Tiberous bahahaha!! Trust me I know it’s ridiculous. They yanked a bunch of comments on one of my CZ videos because I was promoting illegal firearm sales. They are a dumb bunch of fragile snowflakes.
ive had mine in fde for awhile still not sure if mag release is metal or not either 😅 ive stippled a spartan helmet into the right side of the gun and stippled the mag extensions. also gave fiber optic sights and guide rod from lakeline folks think its a nice gub till they spot the make

I wouldn't have a Taurus G2 if my wife wouldn't have bought a Glock g42. And she wouldn't have bought the Glock if she hadn't bought a bodyguard 380 with crimson laser to begin with. And I wouldn't own my second Taurus G2 if I hadn't traded the bodyguard for it. The bodyguard rarely made it through a mag without a misfire. And the only way it was going to be accurate in a self defense situation was that if it did fire, the barrel needed to be touching the chest of your target... My wife's happy now. And I am "twice" as happy. I've shot about 4000 rounds from my EDC G2 without a single problem. I've only shot about 400 rounds through the new G2. It's FDE and way too pretty to wear out at the range... :- ) BTW--loved the level headed video about the true value of a G2 ! Spent $500 on the bodyguard. $450 on the Glock. And less than $200 on my EDC G2... Sometimes getting what you paid for is subjective....
JP Duncan thanks for the view! I really did enjoy the gun. My only regret was not having more time with it. It is better than another gun I’m am reviewing soon! It’s pretty cold out right now though. So stay tuned!
Please, your carry gun is primo, review it, comment makes total sense, but I know ya know where I’m coming from. I carry a 19 and or 17 everyday, all and all and honest and well done review
how funny to me, my first pistol was a hk-vp70 so imean about my taurus p111 g2, i love this gun, so smoorh, no whining at all from me. i want more! i did show my son how to shoot and had my thumb knucke too high and the slide well i bleead for a week.. errr. my bad! and okay i had a few ftp, fte but i polished my slide and problems gone, barrel slide was burred fro mfg, bottom line i love this gun!
Great video, I love my PT111 G2. Just an FYI- The mag release can be switched over to the right side of the pistol very easily. There is a RU-vid video on how to do it. I ran mine that way for a short time, but switched it back to original.
Taurus is a company that owns the monopoly of the production and sales of firearms in Brazil. Its production should be boycotted, since it is a company that brands both Brazil and Brazilians.
Don't put the problems of your country on us! If your country try sucks take up arms and retake your government or vote the right people in office over 200 years ago minutemen and citizens fought the world's greatest power and won our freedom! Just like all these immigrants trying to break into the USA .if they don t want to fight for their own country why do I want them coming to mine?
What 9mm would you recommend if one has around $500 to spend? Are there any guns around the $500 realm that are worth spending the money on or would you still recommend getting the Taurus and saving the rest?
At the $500 range your options really open up to much better guns. This Taurus is good but the CZ P07 ($475ish), CZ P10c ($450ish), S&W M&P’s ($400-450), Glock 19 gen 3 ($499), Sig p320 ($499) H&K VP9sk ($499ish) just to name a few are FAR better all around. They will last longer and are all proven by police and/or military. Plus with these options you also have a FAR better aftermarket. Then there is the option of getting a used/police trade in Glock for around $400. Just don’t totally buy into the “Glock is #1 kool-aid” there are guns out there that are just as good for less (a debatable statement but true IMO).
Devin Williams for recoil I really recommend the Smith and Wesson m&p series. They were designed for the .40 cal and thus they tame the 9mm phenomenally! The new M&P 2.0c is a great carry gun for a Glock 19 size. If you want something just a tad smaller you could go with the original M&P compact too!
What about the guide run after 200 or 150 rounds 200 rounds dentist Springs are overlapping and what about the clips that are falling out of the gun have any problems with those I got a friend of mine's got a problem for both I want to buy one but I've heard nothing but bad reviews on them and watching my friend with his I don't think I could trust that weapon in my life or my family's life
These went on sale so I went down to look at one. I tried to squeeze the trigger and it wouldn't move. On inspection I found that the only way I could get the trigger to move was to purposefully use the tip of my finger to actuate the trigger safety lever to unlock the trigger. I tried to squeeze the trigger normally and it would not move. Only using the very tip of my finger could I actuate the trigger safety lever enough to free the trigger. The salesman just rolled his eyes. Typical poor quality control by Taurus. Too bad too. If it was service ready it would be a nice pistol. For peace of mind and another $100 a person can get a S&W Shield.
Yes but, I meant when I lived in california I had to carry externally and running doun the street or in a scuffle was a problem with my ruger security six or even a tec 9 , or hk vp70, I like those lil pocket guns like the lcp or keltec p3ator P11 cuz they are lite , if i was just sitting around then I guess I like a CZ75 or a 1911, my wife cant even pull the trigger on my PT111 but I like it but here in florida I cant carry it exposed.mand yes I love my PT111 G2 and I would buy a few more for in home defense. I had a few FTF's but I polished the burrs off my ramp and WaLa!
William Tull ah I see what you mean. In that capacity I would say there are better options still. Basically if you only had $200 this is a great gun. But for your application I can’t see why a Shield wouldn’t be amazing! I really wish somebody made a stack-and-a-half. It would be thinner by a tad and hold more than a standard single stack!
A 21min video after 300rds, kinda ridiculous, let’s be real, that thing is a little piece of shit that I would never trust my life with, get a used Glock and give us the 2,000rnd no failures video...💚🍀🇺🇸
Bucket Head while I would rather snag a used Glock, the main point here was “you have $200, you’re new to the gun culture so you don’t know about used Guns, and you need something that is not an ugly high point. What are my choices?” I really wish I had more time with it. To really put it though the paces!
Big eye Tuna the Glock is still infinitely better than this. Ha da down without a doubt. But still the point was if you only had $200 bucks and didn’t know used guns were a thing.
