I just had some customers tell me they came to get our Potato Fudge because of your video! Thanks and glad you enjoyed your fudge! 😊 ❤ The Oh Fudge! PEI Potato Fudge Team
I got so excited when you mentioned Green Gables and then you blew it off. Ugh. Your definitely must watch the mini series with Megan Follows it is a Canadian classic that is loved by all. You will not be disappointed. Great video
Thank you. We will admit though we’ve gotten a lot of this type of weather lately it’s been tough getting out of the van and pushing through it. But it’s always worth it in the end. The biggest issue is getting the cameras wet. If we had better gear to protect it more in the rain it wouldn’t be a big deal. That’s something we’re going to look into more when we get back home. Thanks for saying that!
Absolutely one of my favourite channels on RU-vid I’m travelling to America from Ireland in May next year. And because of this channel I’ve been able to plan my whole trip . You guys have been such a great help love watching your videos.
Oh that is so awesome to hear! If you have any questions with any specific places or things to do send us an email! Would love to hear where you're thinking of visiting Thank you for watching!
Super thrilled you got to experience PEI. It’s such a lovely place! I went twice because of LM Montgomery. As always, you did a great job with your coverage. Do yourself a favor though and see the Kevin Sullivan version of the Anne movies. They truly are my most favorite movies EVER!!!
I am so happy that you understand the history of Canada…. Your correct pronunciation of all the places you visit is heartwarming….. you even hit the French pronunciation…. Impressive…..isnt PEI just gorgeous
The sand "sings" on lots of Michigan beaches as well. It's more of a squeaking sound than singing. Really enjoyed this vlog even as an Anne of Green Gables fan. You'll at least have to watch the movie! 😀
Another great video. We have visited PEI many times growing up with our families and again when we had our own children. Now we go as adults with other family & eventually our grandchildren. It is a magical place & so much fun in so many ways! Glad you got to experience it.
Having grown up in Charlottetown, gone to university in Halifax, and currently living in Moncton (NB), I can attest that you guys are doing a great job in covering Atlantic Canada. I'm sure the ghost of LM Montgomery will forgive you over Anne of Green Gables. Anne is a big deal. There have been movies and several TV series. Think of the popularity of Little House on the Prairie or Heidi. The books are beloved worldwide, especially in Japan. They were introduced into their school curriculum over there after WW2, and Anne has become a hero to all teenage Japanese girls. Lots of Japanese tourism on PEI. One other thing - the sands at Basin Head don't really sing, they squeak when you walk over it. The sand has to be really dry. It is a real phenomenon, but, I always thought it underwhelming.
Don't worry I made sure LM Montgomery got some spotlight (even though I almost mispronounced her name 😂 ) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QNI7m2K4-8Y.htmlsi=LDrsSIYdNzrNEepr
Love watching all your videos. I was married in a lighthouse to a Coast Guard Lighthouse Keeper. I have not been to any of the lighthouses on that island, thank you for the awesome pictures.
Oh, Adam and Kathryn. You guys have never read Anne of Green Gables??? As someone commented, Anne of Green Gables is SUPER loved and popular in Japan. And I am from Japan. I read all five volumes of Anne's stories in Japanese. I even own some copies now. I use these Japanese translation of Anne of Green Gables to teach Japanese. Please read Anne of Green Gables and go back to Prince Edward Island!!
We have gotten the PEI singing sands to sing. It was more than 25 years ago, but we still remember the soft squeaky noise it made when you scuffed your way across it. As a side benefit, your feet would get completely exfoliated in the process.
Hi, my wife and I have been binge watching your videos.....Wow, you guys are the best in these types of travel videos....informative, entertaining and fun.... Keep it up!!!!
We retired from Ontario to PEI and now live close to Holman's Ice Cream which is located in the beautiful city of Summerside. they do make fantastic treats
Excellent video! The drone shots are stunning. I grew up a few minutes from the North Cape Lighthouse. I want to commend you on getting the local pronunciations right i.e. Souris. Most RU-vidrs don't take time to learn the correct way to say place names. Kudos to you. And I chuckled when you ordered fries with the works. Definitely a local favourite where I grew up!
Thank you so much! We do try really really hard to get the pronunciations right so I'm glad we got that one right! Fries with the works was 💯! Thank you and thanks for watching!
Beautiful guys! A much needed break after your biking trip. PEI is spectacular and I was drooling over all the yummy food you got to taste. Kathryn the Double Decker is one of my favorite chocolate from London. It is Chocolate and Nougat😋😋. Looking forward to your upcoming adventures.
I will never look at the eye of a potato again and not imagine lashes. Thank you you guys your videos are fun you make me happy and my son is Adam and his wife’s name is Kathryn spelled just like yours, so that put you even more in a special place in my heart.
Hey, way to go on giving a good overview of the birth of Canada! Now you all know why July 1st is our day and July 4th is yours! Ok, you really need to read Anne of Green Gables! Its a classic!!
Those fries with the works reminds me of Sunday dinner at Mom's & Dad's, but all diced and piled on top of fries, instead of as separate items on a plate (roast beef, peas & potatoes). Looked yummy! 😋
I too am a hot sauce weenie! PEI is such a neat island and you can binge on everything from lakes to light houses to red heated girls in pigtails. Thanks for the memories!
Thank you for sharing this beautiful island. I wondered if you would mention Anne of Green Gables. (One of my favorite books/movies.) I'm glad I am able to enjoy your adventures in the Maritimes since I will probably never visit there. Your videos are amazing!
The sands were wet when we were on the island as well. We did take the ferry from Souris to the Ila de Magdalen, and definitely heard the singing (squeaking) sands in their amazing beaches. Managed to do twinkle twinkle 😂
I just love watching y'all's videos! always SO informative & FUN! PEI is a place I've always wanted to visit & now I know more about some of the great places to see when I go! Thank y'all so much! 😍
About @23:32; Anne of Green Gables... Not upset. At least you mentioned it. Thank you for answering my unasked question, if it was Truly there. There's an actual Series that you can watch... Anne of Green Gables Anne of Avenlea Anne of Green Gables: The Continuing Story If anyone wants to Binge watch something... 🤟🤗
RE: singing sands...We experience "singing sands" in Northern Michigan; it's a legit thing, but it requires a very specific set of conditions. You need dry sand, and it needs to be fresh, "virgin" (sand that's been windswept, so it's smooth, and free of footprints). Additionally, you have to be barefoot, and as you step forward, you sort of curl your toes up, and scuff the balls of your feet into the flat plane of the sand. I'm making it sound do complicated, but having grown up on Lake Michigan, it's totally second nature to me, as I love making the sand "squeak" (that's what we always called it, locally). 😁
I’ve never been to PEI, but I’m from Michigan and the sand on Lake Michigan “sings”. It is more of a squeak though (think the sound of an arm pit fart and you’ll be in the neighborhood)
Hi Guys, welcome back to the Martimes....especially PEI, much enjoyed ths video, such an amazing place to visit. fortunate to have visited on a few occasions. Looking forward to NFLD..
I haven't been since 1989. It was a great trip! We saw the glass houses, miniature village, miniature train ride. On a previous trip I did Ann of Green Gables and that potato museum. You skipped Potato World and Covered Bridge Potato Chips in New Brunswick! It was fun. Butter is not a health issue! Too much starchy and sugary carbs are though. We hope to get back east next summer, or the year after. So many places to explore in Canada!
Tons to do on PEI! And it’s beautiful! We didn’t do the New Brunswick potato things because we knew we would be in PEI Yes so many places! Lovely country!
Most Canadians probably haven't read Anne of Green Gables, but its probably pretty hard to any Canadians haven't at least watched 1 episode of the popular TV series of the same name. The TV series was also filmed there, another reason people go there, to see it.
We enjoyed today's video, but my wife is the Anne of Green gables fan you were talking about. She wanted more and of Green gables content. Lol. Great content.
I was there ( Basin Head beach ) like in 2010 ( long time ago eh ) and ( It's true ) i personally heard the sand making a squeaky duck like sound as i stepped on it. Anyway like your vids and enjoy your adventures. More power guys !
Enjoy the video, was reaffirmed on the nutritional value of the potato and learned where Prince Edward island was. I was confused because there's a town called Prince George in B.C., so many princes.....take care and travel on !!
We're glad we could teach you some things! Ah yes Prince George, we visited there last year on our journey to Alaska! So many Princes! Thank you and thanks for watching!
Love this video it is great I've been to Pei two times now I live in New Brunswick and I'm going to go on a trip there next month for my third time😊 and I was wondering what is the beach called that you found a little bit of sea glass? I would love to try and find some sea glass on my trip there in a few weeks so I can fill a mini bottle and make it into a necklace for a memory piece😊
Anne with an E is very dark though. Please try the one from 1985 with Megan Follows and Jonathan Crombie. It’s a Kevin Sullivan film. It’s the best in my opinion.
I lived in PEI for 6 years. Went to Basin head maybe 6 times and only had the sands sing once. The only way to get them to sing is just walk normal in your barefoot. The barefoot across the sand "squeeks" the same way as your teeth across a cheese curd. It's pretty cool and gets annoying after a while. It's like walking in wet squeeky shoes that you can't take off.
Lucy Maude Montgomery had alot more books than Anne series. Really good if into plant botany, as her writing style is very poetical regarding the local forests. To me I do a quick compare to Robert Frost. Mark Twain loved her Anne character, so if into that kind of gentle honest to sarcastic humor, not a waste of time stories. I cry to think missing LM Montgomery's childhood playground 🤕😢🍒🍟 Come to me again little lands 💞🌲🌼
Think people used to critic & maybe kawaii stuff ain't moans groans wanted today The author suffered alot of physical pain during World Wars. Might've been victim to od.. .and being overcome by that pill dependance, living in Toronto. Take it ez
You say early Aug? Probably the same week we were in NB and had terrible weather! We got there the Sunday of the long weekend. I think we went to the west end bottle village, not the one in your video.
Hello! We usually put the time frame of when the video was filmed in the description or the pinned comment. This video was filmed in early August Thanks and thanks for watching!
@@AdventuresofAplusK buy the way, even if you did not visit anne of green gables, look at the actrice (Megan Follows) that plays her in the movies (not young, like the second movie when she's in the 20s.) you really look like her with you hat on. I bet someone would have told you if you have gone to the museum. 😄
I would never pay that just to cross a bridge. Holy moly. And it seems it’s that expensive no matter what because the only other two ways are ferry or flying. Sheeeeeeesh.
@@AdventuresofAplusK Can't beat a mixed breed, she looks like a great dog. I'm looking for a breed that is hypoallegenic and doesn't shed........... maybe like a Schnauzer or a Labradoodle or....?
Not that it actually matters in the scope of life, but I think that the world's largest potato sculpture is actually in Blackfoot, Idaho. Gotta watch out for those Canadians 😂.
Very topical. Have you made contact with anyone you met there to find out how they are after Leo? If there is a way your subscribers could work with y'all to help...I'm sure it would be effective.
No we haven’t. From our understanding, the storm didn’t have much of an effect on the province compared to previous storms, like Fiona. Most residents have power and the airport is back open. So it seems like it’s mostly back to normal already!
Tropical Storm Lee was really a non event in Moncton. We got maybe 50 mm of rain and the top wind gusts were around 70 km/hr. It was really no worse than a typical nor'easter. It was worse in Nova Scotia. Some wind gusts down there were in the vicinity of 120 km/hr and over 100,000 customers lost power at the height of the storm. Hurricane Fiona last year was definitely worse. It hit as a CAT-2 storm and some people were without power for 2-3 weeks.
@DanPutih @@AdventuresofAplusK Actually locally they are called Windmills so you were correct to call them that. Perhaps technically they are Wind Turbines but we all call them windmills so when in western PEI, speak like the locals. :)
