This is the Best 50's P90 comparison I've seen. I was in the market 6months ago for a P90 for a Grote "Jazz Guitar", and wish the video existed. I ultimately went with the Duncan. Absolutely love it! I went with a LP J.R. 50's wiring, harness. It really gives some additional character to that pickup.
To me, the Seymour Duncan sounds like it has a little less output than the Lollar. I think I'd be happy with either of these pickups, though I do prefer a little less output, so I'd probably lean toward the Duncan.
Great comparo, thanks! The Lollar gets my vote. To my ears, through my Bose headphones, the Lollars just seem to have more clarity, bite and spank. Would love to have heard this comparison in person. Of course, feel is a huge part for me. I'm curious how different they felt under the fingers.
I have an Epiphone LP Junior. My two choices are SD Antiquity or Lollar P90 50s. I have a 335 Epiphone with Antiquities which I love. But for clarity, I would have to go with Lollar.

Lollars always sound brittle and harsh too me. I have the SB55. Great guitar but the pickup ain't happening. I just got a ron ellis...have not put it in yet...🤞
Both pickups I found quite clear, the duncan just has a bit less harsh highs and more midrange which is what I liked best. It's true the duncan also broke up a bit easier being a bit higher output.
I wouldn't give seymor duncan any money.he sold that co.long ago.since then soo much better has come along. Even lollar has become too precious for me.i love quality but something about this company bothers me...i really dont know what it is.
Lollar wins every time, not sure what was the point. I'd go & start composing & using it, not splitting hairs on video like this one (tho nicely done). All this on net is beyond ridiculous - you're buying & comparing elements of guitars you don't know HOW to USE - ts becoming same as purchasing some plastic dolls, all of it. Nobody shows their music around pickups. Cause they don't have it. Same old exercises for achieving - nothing. Plastic doll.
This process, for me, is about finding your "tool". Once you find an instrument that speaks to you the music can begin. Sometimes it's close, but it needs "something " to get it "there" Instead of needing to find a whole new instrument, sometimes things can be tweaked to taste. I've since used this guitar on a new album I have been working on and I'm pleased with the results. Otherwise I would have likely sold it and continued searching for a guitar that spoke to me.
