LOVE this podcast. Touching on the psychological side of pickleball is something that no one really talks about. At the end of the day, pickleball is at least 50% mental and being able to overcome adversity. Please keep talking about the mental side of Pickleball on the pod!
At least 50% mental--totally agree with you! thank you for the feedback. I'd LOVE to keep talking about the mental side--I'm still learning every tournament. And if I can pass any of that knowledge on and it helps someone then it's a good day.
Interesting you mention meditation. My wife is a Neuroscientist and she worked for the military doing cognitive enhancement and a lot of the people she worked with were high performers like pilots. Meditation was one of the tools she used/uses. All of her tools and methods have really benefited me in my pickleball game and life in general. On another note, I like the theme song, "Don't go chasing waterfalls, stick to the rivers and the lakes that you are used to." Use what works.
SUPER interesting RE your wife...."cognitive enhancement" sounds exactly like what we're looking for! What other tools other than meditation did she use? give us some fodder for our next pod!!!!
Love the rap, it’s not crap, bring it back! Like I said before I love the rap. K-Dubs you are funny and creative. Own it! You two must make each other laugh all day long. When you get to the evening quarters in Mesa, Jilly B, I am there. Give me a Sweatshirt & Put me on your bench . Coning from south of the border …Mexico/Rocky Point PB, to witness the Power of “Pro” Pickleball for the first time; not amateurs I agree. Paying 50 bucks to see players like you Jilly B not me. Want to see how hard pro players hit…judging by “the bruise” I can’t wait!!! A Badge of courage. Enjoyed the show! Sorry thought subscribed before. Any crab legs for Valentine’s? ! My family recently enjoyed some buttery Lobster Rolls shipped from Boston. Wishing & Team Malibu Great Skill & some luck in Mesa hopefully starting in Main Draw. Pretty lame. Juame’s singles match was first ever singles match I honestly watched all the way through, great player….half of doubles PB is finding the right partner. right?. Hope to see You & all Team Malibu supporters soon!
Keep rappin’ and wise crackin’, you have inspired the crowd, to say out loud, we’re pickleball proud. Let’s go see Jilly B, she and KDub are in the club. Drinking no alcohol beer and living with no fear.
I am voting “White girls can’t rap”. I love you guys, but I do think that the truncated song will appeal to a bigger audience. Keep up the good work. Love your pod!
I truly didn’t mean to be Negative Nancy. I meant my feedback with all due respect. I know the words to your intro and even sing along! 😂 But … I am also just keeping it real. It’s fun and it’s catchy, but y’all are pros. Ex-CEO et al. I love keeping it light and fun - but you deserve to be taken seriously with your commitment and love for the sport. There is no need for extra fodder for the haters. The truncated version is perfect. Pickleball is joy and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. Again. Love your pod.
Catchy rap but hard to understand all the words. Keep it fresh and update it as the Pickle-world turns. Enjoy the pod, especially liked the insight into your matches with Jaume. With the way he played singles I didn’t realize he had an injury. Should all tournaments be progressive?
The camera angle on the “grandstand” court was bad, I think because the courts were so tight. Definitely should upgrade for the pros. I doubt the amateurs will want to pay for 3 more days of play and burn 3 more days of vacation if they are traveling to play in the PPA events. And it sounds like entry fees a high also. Part of the experience is to mix with the pros. PPA wouldn’t want to risk losing those entry fees. Just a guess
I left that in there just so people could see. If you notice Jaume is bouncing the ball for a long time while he’s chatting with Jill, so I think Jay just kind of forgot or because the serve was so deep in the return was short he thought he needed to cover the middle for a hard rip.
Jilly you said you had zero points last year in PPA.. Is this the very first time you have ever finished in the top 10 in a PPA Event.?? I saw you were 33 seed in singles in first tournament. Ae you playing singles in Mesa?
Ok I found it for last year in PPA 33rd rank in Doub les 750 points, 29 rank and 1750 points in Mixed and no points for last year in singles. Thanks maybe I heard you talking about singles.
