I love your channel! And, from a country that never took to the metric system, thank you for using centimeters AND inches. Keep trucking along. You’re doing a great job with your videos and we are thrilled when you post a new one!
Well done, Matt. Yes, I'd love to see a video on swordtails. And/or platies. Very interested. You and MD Fish Tanks are my go-to people now. I devour every video, and have learned so much (rasboras are from Asia, and tetras are South American! Mind blown.) But what I like best is that when I watch you and MD as well, it feels like sitting down with a cup of tea with your good mates. It's great fun. Thank you so much for what you do for us. ☺
Thank you so much! Definitely going to do videos on both of those eventually. I'm so glad that's the way you feel when watching the videos. It's exactly how we want to come across and generally how we are off camera too! ❤️❤️❤️
@@FishShopMatt also, you both have a very down-to-earth, laid back, vibe. A lot of other channels have a more stern, authoritative vibe which, well...isn't nearly as fun. Hahhahah.
Love the channel Matt, never change! Interested to know your thoughts on Panda Garra as an algae eater. I've found them very charismatic and fun to have in the tank, but also an absolute beast when kt comes to most types of algae, including blackbeard!
Matt was like he’s lost every single time and does not know what video he is doing. Until he talks about the content and we get info overload! 😅 Great job!
Thanks Matt! Best tip was to not smash your head into the lasagna ;-D I really love shrimps and snails for the nano tanks. They do their job well. But snails can explode fast.
The snails are hands down the best at algae removal! I tried the Yamato Numa shrimp, flying fox, etc, etc, but 3 snails cleaned the tank out in a couple of weeks.
Yeah, great list of fish! Those are pretty much my go to’s aswell! And btw I’ve actually got a vid on how to breed bristlenose plecos on Saturday! And finally I love your style of humour😂😂.
@@FishShopMatt Great, only 1 thing. It’s only part 1 because the fry haven’t grown enough yet to make a part 2😂, but eventually I will have 2 parts and then I will combine them to 1 longer which will be a full tutorial!
The amount of algae that platies can eat always surprises me. There was a piece of decor in my male betta's tank that was covered in hair algae. My platy tank had a bunch of babies, so I switched the piece to the platy tank and the next day, every bit of hair algae had disappeared. Adorable little eating machines. Looking forward to the shrimp files. My husband loves cherry shrimp, and I've considered setting up a shrimp tank for him lol. Totally not as an excuse to play with a new tank. 😏
Haha making a cherry river scape for my hubby to, was like I wanted shrimp tank anyway just didn't say anything till he did haha 😂 n I was like oh so I don't have to talk him I to it after having tanks n fish already haha
Unfortunately when I try to give my octo's wafers my fish eat the wafers before they get a chance to get any! I'm not sure how to prevent it from happening? Love the channel, you and MD make fish keeping entertaining! 🤣👍
That is an issue that will always be there. Maybe try to put the algae wafers in at the same time as the general feed or when the lights are just about to go out. The other thing is to weigh down a bit of cucumber once in a while to help the Otto's graze.
Brilliant again Matt. Really enjoyed it. I love oto’s, especially when they school. Also got 2 starlight plecos. Both bought at the same time. One is now quite large with bristles, the other has stayed smaller, with stubble. Im hoping its a female. Id live to see some baby plecos buzzing around the aquarium. The appreciation goes both ways mate. Thanks for such great info
One of my favorite colorful algae eaters is the Longfin Rosey Barb! I’ve kept them in both my tanks and they absolutely decimate hair algae. Plus, they’re absolutely gorgeous with bright orange and green coloring. *Also, look how big those rope fish have gotten behind you!!!
I agree, the only reason they didn't get included was their sometimes nippy attitude but they will definitely be in round two of this video. The ropes are now massive!!!
Love seeing your videos. I'm always excited to see that you've posted. Thanks for posting both types of measurements. Would love a "how to" video for upgrading everything to a new tank if you're going to keep all internal things (substrate, plants, and rocks) in the old to new tank but with a new filter. Maybe just a how to upgrade video in general.
Hello Matt, I'm starting out in aquarium hobby and I would like if you could make a video talking about how to keep Otocinclus and their healthy behavior. Thanks i really enjoy your videos and im learning a lot of it. Keep up friend!!
Matt you are THE BEST fishkeeper i know!! Love your knowledge and value you bring to MD's videos!! I need to visit the shop sometime and show my support for you and the channel! ❤ bless you
I saw you first a while back with MD. You have really grown into this role and you are outstanding at it. Great information and entertaining. Thank you!
I am so g;ad that you mentioned Mollies and Platies and Guppies. Just had this happen at our local big chain pet store. No body helping a lady and her 10 year old son who both looked lost. I asked if they needed any advice. The son had a 35 gal (130 lit) neon tetra and glow fish tank. They wanted some more colorful fish and had "a little algae" (Normal for a tank that gets minor direct sun) so I said guppies and a bit less food. Mabey if tank load is good a few cory to clean bottom resting food. When the employee showed up they were talked into a common Pleco. No color and totally wrong for their tank. But that is what they walked out with because "Algae" Woot more shrimp stuff to come!
Mollies may well be in a future tank for me! Well at least you can sleep well knowing you tried. Such a shame but we will educate one person at a time!!!
Well timed video this one. One for one hell of a hair algae outbreak. Thankfully I also have a load of baby guppies so now that I've turned the lights down and raised I'm probably over feeding, so now hopefully they'll deal with it. Great video as always
Been needing something in my 10 gallon betta tank to help with clean up. After watching this, I think I'm gonna go with some type of shrimp! Now I'm going to go watch your shrimp video 😀 thank you Matt!
Regarding cherry/ neo cardinia shrimpers, I just started a 10g invertebrate tank with a pair of Bamboo/ wood shrimp, asst neo cardinia and a mystery 🐌. It's amazing to see the difference in character of different colors of neo cardinia, I have yellow, orange and red cherry because I don't really mind if they breed together and I get a certain percentage of wild/ mud style along with the colors. But anyway, the yellow guys are total type A extroverts, the orange guys follow the yellow and the red cherries are shy boys/ girls and stay inside my driftwood pile! It's so neat to see their differences!
I've got two tanks a very large goldfish tank and a smaller platy only tank. The platy's are anazing at grazing on the algae suprsiong so infact. To be honest I just have a group of nerite snails to help them out a little. Bar that they do a great job on there own!
Absolutely love Ur Vids. The passion and knowledge u have is awesome!! I wasn't impressed with my guppies was doing a water change when I lifted a rock and found a ton of baby bristlenose well as fast as I found them so did the guppies it was like watching my cichlids go for bloodworms. Now I half half as many bristlenose babies
Do a best dwarf cichlid video! With the average tank size being small-ish, dwarf cichlids would be an awesome video, shell dwellers, kribs, apistos, rams to name a few. Diversity with water parameters, breeding, intelligence, and looks. What’s not to love!?!
Loving the channel I got nerite snails in my aquarium which is allegedly freshwater however I may need to contact my water company I got baby snails LOLZ
