At this point, anyone even remotely associated with watch enthusiasm knows the Rolex Submariner is one of the hardest watches to actually buy in the world. So what I wanted to do in this video was to share some of top alternatives to the Rolex Submariner out there on the market in 2022.

I agree with saving up for the Sub if that is what you ultimately want. I've wanted once since I was a kid and I saved for a few years before buying one. The Orient dive watches are quite nice; I was blown away by the quality relative to the price. I am bummed Seiko stopped the SKX-007. On an Uncle Seiko Jubilee, it's such a nice package. I also agree with you about the Superocean not getting enough love. That was my first expensive watch and they are really well made, although a bit on the thicker side of things. I think part of it might be their use of ETA movements, although Breitling ETA movements are really exceptional workhorses.

Even if the Rolex Submariner was in my price range, and it was available, I would still choose these alternatives that Teddy featured in this video. In my opinion they look better, and it has the added benefit, when you purchase them instead of a Rolex, of you not contributing to the unjustified hype around Rolex. We, as watch enthusiasts, need to stop feeding into the cult of Rolex. If you genuinely like Rolex, more power to you. However, don't buy a Rolex just to flex and say you got a Rolex.

You're right Drake. I own a couple of Rolex's (including the Submariner) but what's going on today is nuts (unless you're Rolex themselves;) They simply are no longer on my radar-and no doubt other collectors. If they could be bought at retail... Fine. But paying a price in excess of what the retailer thinks is fair and correct? Like 12k for an 8 grand piece.... Errr... No. Not when you can walk in and buy something like the excellent Seamaster at a fraction of the cost...

I know it's pretty popular to be trashing Rolex these day , but they are still building some exceptional peices. It's the people that don't actually dive with them that trash them the most . I bought my first Rolex Submariner in 1968 and have added to my Submariner collection over the years. From my very first 5513 to my newest 124060 , they are first and foremost still a tool watch . I own examples of the last 3 watches on your video , and they are great watches. I've dove with them all but my first choice will always be a Submariner. It’s almost funny how you sometimes seems to read out minds in terms of content - or just really do know you audience. After your last one, I swear I thought: “I would really like a video on Rolex Submariner alternatives and dive watches in general, covering many price ranges”… Another excellent one! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Nice video. I’d be interested in seeing what your Rolex OP and Explorer alternatives would be.

I had the Citizen Promaster in blue (yes, that exact model comes in blue, but not in the U.S.), and it was a lovely watch, but just too big, so I ended up parting with it. But a phenomenal value if it fits you.

Didn’t really see the connection to the Sub in most of these. But, that being said, great video on divers. Expected to see Oris, but good call on the Mido, love my 200c.

I like the Citizen (for my price range obviously, Brazil has insanely high prices)

De acuerdo 100%, tengo el Casio y el Seiko, pero las otras opciones como el Cap. Cook son fascinantes

I love your channel. I Have 2 suggestions for future videos. The 2 most important watches in my collection are my grandfather's pocket watch and my father's ww2 watch. I hope you would have a video on watch restoration. Also, I would think some would appreciate special needs watches such as braille watches.

You can buy whole Casio Marlin range of six watches for about $400. Superb value.

Dare I say, you missed JLC. Not only do you have the Master Compressor, but the Polaris is a darned good option too.

Save up and “GO FOR THE REAL THING.” I had several high end watches that were $2,500-$4,000. They where nice, but I still felt like something was missing. I should’ve went for it and got a Rolex instead of buying 3 watches over the courses of years equaling up to $11,000. So save up and you’ll be happier in the end.
