Your scope is mounted higher then the standard 1.5" above the bore. That is why your trajectory is higher then expected. An ar's scope is approximately 2" above the bore so pretty much a 223 is dead on at 100 and 200 yards. With a bolt rifle with 1.5" above bore same cartridge is slighty over 1" high at 100 yards to be dead on at 200 yards.
@herb1530
@herb1530 10 месяцев назад
The reason it's that high,is because your scope is to high, the ballistics they're giving you is for a scope no more than an inch and a half above, yours is higher then that.
@TrentGunnellGeorgiaExposure
@TrentGunnellGeorgiaExposure 10 месяцев назад
Yes you are correct. It has high scope mounts so there is enough room to cock the trigger with your thumb. Thanks for watching!

Just a little advice.. you never take a cleaning rod and RAM it down the muzzle. You clean a rifle barrel by pushing your cleaning rod from the breach to the muzzle
@TrentGunnellGeorgiaExposure
Barry, you were taught the wrong way to clean a gun barrel and I will prove it to you. Not all guns will brake open like this CVA. So on regular guns, it is impossible to start from the breach without putting the cleaning rod in bind. I've been cleaning guns for over 40 years and not one time has it hurt the barrel or caused any kind of disarray. But you are correct on one thing, you don't RAM it down the barrel. You gently push the cleaning rod down the barrel like you see me do in the video. Thanks for watching!
@barrycarrick1920
@barrycarrick1920 Год назад
No not all guns break open like the CVA scout.. a bolt-action rifle, you take the bolt out, and push the cleaning rod from the breach to the muzzle. A break open single-shot is even easier. You push your cleaning rod from the breach to the muzzle so that you are not harming your crown. And I was not taught wrong how to clean a rifle. I've been doing it for over 40 years myself. By starting at the muzzle and pushing your cleaning rod in that way you can damage your crown of your barrel, which can lead to an accuracy of your rifle. Ask anybody that knows anything about cleaning a rifle
@TrentGunnellGeorgiaExposure
@@barrycarrick1920 There is only one way to clean automatics and lever actions. You start from the muzzle. Either way, you have to use common sense and not damage the crown of the barrel. I have no problem with starting from the breach, but like I said all guns can't be accessed like that.
@PassivePortfolios
@PassivePortfolios 11 месяцев назад
Another way is to use a bore snake type swab to clean the barrel that way you don't have to deal with cleaning rods rubbing against the crown or the rifling near the muzzle. You can clean any rifle action with a borne snake, and you can make your own out of cheap rope or twine and some braided fishing line. You can save money on gun cleaner by using Walmart carb cleaner inside the barrels.

Part of the difference in where bullets were hitting and where the box said was the higher scope mounts. When they give those numbers its with really short mounts.

Scope height can really change where it’s hitting a different ranges. Measure the center of the bore to the center of your scope and use that in your calculations. Looks like you’re at 2 inches or so. If you’re zeroed at 25 the bullet is raising that 2 inches to meet your scope in only 25 yards so it’s on its way up. It’s going to continue that rise for quite a ways so that’s why it was high at 100. The best thing to do is actually get out and check it like you’re doing
@TrentGunnellGeorgiaExposure
Yes sir they can. I've got to test another round soon if it will cool off a little. Thanks for watching!
@seancotten8076
@seancotten8076 11 месяцев назад
Exactly. It looks like a 50mm objective lens on the gun, which raises the center of scope in relation to center of barrel. So that means to hit your line of site dead on at 25 yards, the angle of the bullet travel is steeper than it would be if you had a forty millimeter objective with lower scope mounts. Hope that makes sense. My dad explained this to me when I was kid. He drew it out on graph paper and it made perfect sense. Google “how scope height affects trajectory”. So you will have different trajectory results with that same rifle and ammo, if you went with a 40mm objective lens and lower mounts. Thanks for the video. Im hoping to get a 350 legend for my wife soon. 👍🏼

That's why you always sight in farther. Your bore to scope axis can make a huge difference in your 25-100yd impacts and the ballistics calculator is just a reference point. The higher your scope sits the more changes you'll have in impact. Looks like groups got much better.

Are you using the box velocity or the actual guns true velocity? You usually get results like this when the rifle is slower than the box advertised speed.
@TrentGunnellGeorgiaExposure
You didn't watch the entire video did you? lol. Yeah this is the CVA's velocity. The box says if you were roughly dead on at 25 yards, you would be 2.5" high at 100 yards. That wasn't the case with my gun. My gun had to be sighted in 1" low at 25 yards to make the rest of the ballistics correct.
@thatguyfishingben4794
@thatguyfishingben4794 Год назад
I did watch the entire video. I even just rewatched the video to make sure I didnt miss anything but all you said was according to your ballistics several times. These are some of the ugliest rifles I have ever seen. Why doesn’t someone make a breakopen single shot that looks classic, elegant?
@TrentGunnellGeorgiaExposure
@TrentGunnellGeorgiaExposure 9 месяцев назад
The whole thing is ludicrous if you think about it. The government gets involved and figures out a way to make their money. We as hunters should be able to shoot most calibers at whitetails. Each state decides certain rules and regulations, therefore forcing us as hunters to purchase their certain rifles that are legal. In the end, they all make money.
