A fantastic review of this beast! I'm sure he will throw you a cheecky discount for your review, which is obviously 100% transparent as that's the type of person you are when it comes to audio. I just got my first estat being the Audeze CRBN and I bought the iFi Phantom to drive it. I can say with that Xbass at the highest setting, I have heard the best bass ever and I've owned the LCD 4. The CRBN slams and punches so hard and approaches to the level of the HEKSE but with the best definition and texture, making it absolutely unreal. Its also elevates my OG Utopia to levels I have never heard before its just a terrific amp.
Leon, I love the CRBN! My only complaint is the pops when you take them off or put them on. Sound is top grade and different from other e-stats. I doubt I will get a discount on the amp. I'm certainly not expecting one. I've been counting pennies trying to afford this beast. It's going to be tight.
@DirectorsGarage I've only had the driver flex on me twice after a few days, so maybe I'm one of the lucky ones? But I always mute the volume, and I'm very gentle and slow when putting or taking them off. Do you think it's worth having both power supplies for that different sound? I assume Ray will charge extra to have both.
So what will Ray do? Is he going to leave the choice of power supply to the user and offer both? Is he going to stick with the final production one you looked at first? Or is he going to switch things up based on your input?
Great video, how did the new power supply affect the dynamic headphone portion of the headamp? I also really wish Ray could set up a booth at canjam so we can all get a listen to that beauty.
