I have seen some karate teachers and demonstrations throughout the years I've watched ninjas wing chun guys how even Bruce Lee Scott Atkinson Steve n' seagulls earlier black and white videos when he was teaching in Japan my son's teachers in karate been to seminars I also do kickboxing and boxing in my past but this particular gentleman something else restores my fight in karate
There are a few movements that are not really applicable in real situations (and it makes it evident in the same video) and not too practical for being trained, but beside those ones there are many that are just great: high damage, high efficiency, high speed, and more. And many others are great for improving several skills as martial practitioner. Great video. Thanks.
loved old style :) 96 black belt 2 dan... then left.... now at 45 planning to restart with my kids, execution, speed, power, control, focus all was great... the way i liked at my time..
Truly impressive. One might tend to put down Karate in this day and age, but you mess with a guy like Andre, you definitely would be in for a very rude awakening.
Oss respect! True experts. Except what's the use of hitting a person hard while explaining for practice? The person just stands there, so also respect the other. Oss!
Did you learn the truth about karate? no rules just win for your life and others lives ! recall that when it is for the life and death battlers no rules to worry about just whom is walking away alive ! no fair or unfair strikes !...
A pity there are no decent videos of Terry O'Neill - the greatest technician of them all, but a very hard man as well. In competition (kumite) his techniques were text-book perfect - and they scored! In Kata - he was many times a kata champion. Certainly the most impressive karate man, I have ever seen and trained under.
Amazing Maya Geri, which is one of visit cards of shotokan, yoko Geri was not shown unfortunately. No bullshit kumite with jumping easy targets. Well, punches were as usual unrealistic for demonstration purposes. Anyway many thanks for video, great Master.
Lots of ego and disregard for his student’s safety. You don’t make hard attacks and impacts when your student is being passively used for your own demonstration. Sure his techniques look effective but you need to show respect for your students
Karate means " empty hands" - no weapons. A very respected marcial art. All due respect , i mean no bring down or to hurt anybody's feeling that nly quoting word of Bruce Lee who had studied/ eximinated all marcial art techics Karate among them said kata is an unnecessary moves.
So much better than that Chinese BS I was just watching with fat old Chinese men who are paper tigers that people respect although they never have demonstrated their power...this stuff here was great...goodness ..a couple of those punches/moves, and you'll open your opponent's eyes!! Although cut out the unnecessarily loud ki-ai..lol...(I have a soft voice so it could just be me..)
What a clown! Cartonish imitation of Yahara sensei and Asai sensei and Tanaka Sensei, Apparently he took photos all over Japan but we never saw him in Kumite at the JKA Honbu!
Doug kami basani. Very irresponsible on students. There is a reason it’s banned in practice and completion form judo. Great way to tear someone’s knee apart
Only Andre Bertel thinks he is the most advanced karata in the world. He talks all the time and imitate Yahara thats all. Hurts the guy then suddenly shows concern....shame man.
So odd and warped that Chan and Zen is something practiced but all of it is nature. When a person tries. The coca leaf is part of people in Peru. While Chan and Zen are not the majority or in their blood or mind.
Strong heart strong spirit and strong mind and body dojo kun you be number one for sure tough cookie run each morning before sunrise and watch the dawn sunrise Jesus is the Light of the World he who believes in him shall not walk in darkness but shall have the light of life. OSU Brains aka Shane Jesus the harbinger of light.
"the best ... strong .. strong ..." But WHAT is better ... WHAT is "strong"? Answer: some athletic qualities. Otherwise it's all the same old story: forwards who attack slowly and evenly who almost pee in their pants for respect. The other words "attackers" which DO NOT really attack. Against a true striker, without respect, tough, unpredictable, who does not allow himself to be hit and / or indifferent to blows, 90% of Bertell's techniques are useless. Guys ... finally get out of your hypnosis.
These types of useless karate demonstrations are exactly what Bruce Lee preached against... Striking a stationary opponent in a predictable stance, making the demonstrator look invulnerable or magical... If students watching this believe their instructor would have any success against an actual real world opponent, how disappointed they'd be to see how quickly their sensi get knock clean out by even a totally untrained fighter!
