I would totally get into clean beauty, but the lack of preservatives in the products really prevent me from doing so. I tend to use my products at a slower pace (trying other new items), and sometimes a product can sit for a while in my drawer. I’ve heard some horror stories of the clean beauty products going moldy & bad very quickly. just a heads up in case anyone is like me as well and does not tend to go through products at a faster pace.
i refuse to buy anything clean beauty after i bought the tower 28 glosses, i only had them for two months before they completely broke my lips out (honestly i think they were expired when i bought them because they smelled disgusting)
honestly a good take. i loved the kosas concealer but it changed SO QUICKLY. idk if its “bad” yet, but the color and feel changed in like a month of use 😬
Ughhh the fear mongering associated with clean beauty is so annoying 🙄 That said, I do love the Saie dew blushes. Currently waiting for the bronzer to arrive in the mail.
Totally agree about that whole “clean beauty” thing. Preservatives are actually very important in these cream products to prevent bacterial growth. Especially in things like mascara. The SAIE sunscreen is actually wonderful! No white cast. It’s glowy but very light. I’ve used multiple bottles so far. I dont wear foundation so although I bought the slip tint I haven’t used it yet but the first highlighter is something that I’ll try. Great review!
Amanda - please try the liquid highlighter (what you are calling a dewy primer) as a highlighter! It is SO BEAUTIFUL and Natural looking! I like to tap a little into the high points of my cheeks and it looks like such a natural glow but also dries down too so it doesn't move around. It's my favorite way to use it! ♡
So excited for this video! I personally love Saie! Everything I’ve tried from them I love. I’ve been hooked on the Sunvisor and the new concealer is a dream especially combined with my Kosas one 😍
I find the undone beauty water bronzer is also good for giving some sheer color to help the face match a light tan. I think it’s also like $10 which is a steal! I don’t really like it as a bronzer over foundation though. It’s better on bare skin or under foundation.
Or on days you just wear concealer! I love my water bronzer. I apply it across my cheeks & nose. With some blush and faux freckles it makes for such a cute summer look☀️
Yess thank you for doing this video! I love saie beauty, one of my fav brands! However I don't really like the slip tint or sunscreen, they feel so greasy on me. We have the same blush shades too! They are so pretty
I like wearing the Mac Studio Fix pressed powder over the Saie tinted moisturizer! I didn't know that Saie came out with some new color with their dew blushes. I'll have to check that out. Thanks 😊 for the video!
Kosas...hands down the ONLY concealer I will use. I want to try their dew blushes & sun melt. But, how does the bronzer compare to the Fenty cream bronzer? Love, love, love the glowy super gel in sun bronze.
This is literally the review video I was waiting for and super happy you were the one to do it as you are always SO immensely thorough :) Thank you Amanda!
I absolutely love the slip tint, specially for having mineral sunscreen, I have dry mature skin so I love hydrating products, but I think for normal to oily skin might eel greasy. Since I watched a video from Plastic Surgeon Dr. Amir Karan saying that mineral sunscreen it's the only one that really protects you from UVA /UVB rays, I've been looking for a mineral sunscreen that I can wear under makeup but their very thick in texture so I'm using Saie Slip Tint as my everyday sunscreen /foundation.
The mineral SPF30 from Maelove is the best balance of cosmetic elegance and good function (wears well, easy to wear enough of it, not overly drying) that I've found so far. I color correct with a tiny bit of liquid bronzer and the effect is like that of a tinted moisturizer.
Paula's choice super-light wrinkle defense SPF 30 in the light blue tube is beautiful under makeup. It's not super moisturizing which can be very helpful especially if you have oily skin. Also I love the EltaMD uv elements under makeup for something with water/sweat resistance and a higher SPF. It leaves a bit of moisture and a hydrating glow on my dry skin, but I don't find it greasy at all. For highest SPF and still works great under makeup, I love the La Roche posay mineral anthelios fluid. This one is my go to in summer since it works well in the heat and the higher SPF is great. I love and use all 3 of these for different situations and highly recommend them. Also if you want an affordable option, pipette sunscreen is really wonderful. It blends into the skin well and has a very high SPF of 50, however it's quite moisturizing so I think for oily skin it isn't the best and I don't wear it in the summer since I need sweat resistance. It does tend to be a tiny bit on the greasy side, but the price is right and it is a very light mineral formula with super high SPF. All that being said though, chemical sunscreens also work very well and a lot of the combined chemical filters work just fine against UVA and uvb. If you have a sunscreen with just one filter I would be cautious, but if it uses a combination like most then it will have broad spectrum protection. Also if you're in the US, sunscreen has a broad spectrum label when it protects against both. Chemical sunscreens are really the best for under makeup and I don't think we need to be afraid of them. I go for mineral because I have very sensitive skin and can get rashes from chemical sunscreen when I sweat. I would love to be able to use it though. If you have concerns about chemical sunscreens I highly recommend checking out Lab Muffin Beauty Science channel on RU-vid, she's awesome and has the most info on sunscreen you could ever want to know.
I just purchased the Glowy Super Gel. I also purchased one of the dewy blushes. So far, i am enjoying the gel but i think I'm going to return the blush. It's not really a great color for me but the formula isn't bad so i think I'll try and find another shade.
Ive dry to combination skin and the foundation has a nice coverage but rather oily. I ended up mixing it with with a matte foundation to balance it out. The liquid blush is soo good, better than rare coz its not too much pigmented. The powder though…the BEST!
"Saie is the Glossier of clean beauty"--wow yes!! I also get really annoyed by products like Slip Tint or the Tower 28 one that market themselves as "tinted SPF" when you really need a separate SPF because no one is using the amount of product that you need for SPF coverage. Why can't they just call them "tinted moisturizer with SPF"?? Idk why but this makes me never want to try any of these sorts of products.
Maybe in some cases bc they’re not technically moisturizers? But I know what you mean. Tower 28 is called “spf 30 tinted sunscreen foundation”-like, huh? I wish they would all just make skin tints and do the spf/moisturizer as a separate product. But what annoys me the most is that I’m sure there are still millions of people (who don’t consume this kind of content) who think that whatever’s in their makeup can be their only spf, and these so-called conscious brands never seem to say otherwise. It strikes me as very irresponsible and I’m surprised they’re not called out on this more. 🤷🏻♀️
@@jojobeth Well said! What a good point re: "ethical" brands declining to tell their customers that they aren't going to get the listed SPF with makeup alone. Maybe something like "AngelSkin Astounding Base with Sunny Day Booster" or whatever would give people a more accurate idea of what the SPF in a foundation can and can't do.
I thought I could use tower 28 as sunscreen. It looks horrible (when using the amount u need for sunscreen) I hate how it was marketed. I use it as a skin tint and it's okay. It really doesn't look good on dry skin. I have combination skin and it looks bad on my dry areas. I have to moisturize very well.
This is a first for me seeing the wide shade jumps on the lighter rather than darker end. It would be interesting to see their reasoning for this. The usual claim (which has been a reasonable one to some) is that they can't afford to be more accommodating, if they say anything at all.
Thank you for this video! This brand is *so* hyped right now and your reviews are the ones I trust the most, especially for complexion products. I think I can safely pass on this brand - a little too much makeup placebo, not into the "clean" beauty shame-iness, kind of a weird "we're not like other girls!" vibe - but watch me cave on that bronzer in a month ...
I really appreciate your thorough insights, as usual! Something about Saie kind of annoys me (the name, for one, lol, does anyone know what it means?); but more that they’ve got this very on-the-nose instagram thing that feels wholly unoriginal. So to see them get so successful when there are all these truly innovative indie brands, well, ugh. I never made that direct connection with glossier, but you’re so right. I’m going to try to make my own concoction mixing the inn beauty face glaze or similar with the d-bronzi drops to see if I can get close to their sunglow gel-it’s so pretty on you! PS when are we going to start finding out gnarly stuff about the founder, which seems almost inevitable these days? 🤷🏻♀️
Yes, so have I! I love the Kosas formula but I just can’t get a good shade match. I love the fact that Kosas has tried diligently to help me get a good match, but every shade I’ve tried is just slightly off. The problem is that it’s off in a way that throws off my entire makeup look. I’ve tried using it alone, no foundation, and it still looks out of place. It’s so frustrating because I really like the formula 😩
Unusual use maybe, but I love the Glowy Super Gel in the lighter shade Stardust, but on my eyes! I have prominent eyes with a ton of visible lid space, and they're slightly close set, so I don't find those gorgeous "wet look" shadows very flattering on me if they're too intense. But I do love a bright wet glossy look in the inner lids, especially because they are kind of sunken like yours. Using the tiniest dab of the Stardust over my concealer on the inner half of my lids is the perfect amount of reflection to mimic plump healthy skin. And then I use one of your medium shade other recs (CT Oyster Pearl, Almay Velvet Foil End Game, or Kiko Milano stick 38 or 06) on the outer half of my lids, and that is my everyday version of your wet look shadows! The Glowy Super Gel dries down better than an eye gloss for longer wear time, too.
can i ask you how long your super glowy gel has lasted? did it turn bad? i just bought the bronze shade today and am seeing comments that say these clean products go bad fast and now i’m wondering if i should just return it
I'm SUPER bummed about the shade range of the concealer because I REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY want to try it. I just had the same problem with the Rose Inc. concealer. I got shade 2 thinking it would be just right, because shade 1 would have been WAY too light for me. Well, turns out shade 2 was way to dark and I had to buy shade 1 anyway to mix both of them to get the perfect shade. There was such a MASSIVE jump between shade 1 and 2. So I had to spend $60 ($30 a piece) on concealer to make sure I had the right shade. I'm actually still a little irritated about it so maybe I'll hold off on the Saie concealer. Because I DEFINITELY know I'm going to have to buy shade 1 and 2 🤬😡🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
I've been eyeing those blushes, really want to try Spicy! Have you tried the new Bobbi Brown corrector + concealers in the stick packaging? Would love your thoughts on those!
honestly i always think saie and ilia, lawless etc are the same brand. all these random minimalist "cLeAn" brands popped up at the same time and nothing about them looks special. i've already seen other youtubers throw out their saie products because it turns so quickly. i just don't get the point.
Some products are so good from Saie (glowy liquid highlighter) and some are so bad (mascara) but I am still interested in them. I've also tried their setting powder and it just did not work for me, even despite some great reviews.
Also would love to know your take on caliray! They just came out with a liquid bronzer that kind of looks comparable to the saie glowy gel bronzer 👀👀👀👀
Love the Saie mascara but also purchased the Really Great Gloss in two shades and they were both terrible, rub off into nothing in a matter of seconds and also make my lips feel dry!
On the kosas concealer - i LOVED that concealer as well. Looked so amazing under the eyes, but the product went bad so fast on me... it felt like such a waste.
SAME!!! i loved it too. clean beauty goes bad quicker. i wonder if there’s a way clean beauty brands can sell “minis” in some sort of refillable packaging. i use makeup so slowly lol
Hi Amanda I would love (better for you cosmetics) for lack of better term. I for years have only used such makeup as I am picky as to what I put on my face especially after spending a plethera of money on skin care.... Just a thank you for the AYR saline spray recommendation I was getting terrible nose bleeds to were I had to go to a ENT Doc and the spray along with gel has been a God send Thank you!
I don’t know what is with the Lisa’s revealer concealer hype. I’ve tried it many times and it makes my undereye look cakey and almost grey. Is it the shade I got? Not sure why everyone else loves it so much..
Kosas concealer doesn’t have a shade that works for me (fair w a strong pink undertone), but i have hollow under eyes. Are there any other concealers that come close?
While I also don’t subscribe to the “clean” beauty marketing, Saie avoids ingredients that are not super environmentally friendly to produce or are known to be not so great for the factory workers actually produce certain ingredients. Which is not something I think many brands consider, so I like that. I also, like you, like that Saie is basic in its formulations. AND it is pretty acne friendly with very few items having pore clogging/irritating ingredients.
I cannot get this concealer to work for me at all! And my under eyes are the same. I make sure I moisturize. But it settles into my lines and is very visible and is cakey. I like the look of the Kosas, but it’s super yellow on me and looks bad when I set it too
I do not recommend the highlighting gel because it removes sunscreen if you apply it on top of your sunscreen. I like the slip tint for winter, but in it melts off me in hot weather, but I really appreciate that it comes in a pale enough color for me. I did not pursue this brand because it's "clean" because I think the whole clean movement is B.S.
Would love a video on skincare products that double as makeup products! Since the pandemic I’ve looked to incorporate more skincare products that also work as makeup products in my every day routine.
I really want to try the powder but now I’m wondering what shade I should get- the light or medium- since it gets darker over some products 🤔 First, I thought the medium would work since my skin is on the light to medium spectrum, but now im thinking it may get too dark under the eyes. But then, the summer is almost here so it might work. If the light gets darker, it maybe the perfect color match for under my eyes. But then there’s the rest of the face to worry about, ugh. Im going to have to take a bit of my concealer and foundation with me to Sephora to try it on my hand. I wouldn’t want to put a tester powder on my face. Ah, the struggles of beauty lovers 😅
I have pretty fair skin and haven't noticed the light one darkening my face at all. I do prefer pat McGrath undereye powder for undereyes though. For everything else I've fallen hard for the Saie powder. I have dry skin and I looooove it. It's been the first powder I've actually loved to use. It doesn't dry me out at all and blurs so beautifully. Maybe it's just certain products that it darkens and I got lucky.
