i guess im asking the wrong place but does someone know of a way to log back into an Instagram account?? I was dumb forgot the password. I would appreciate any help you can give me!
Best of this year: finding the people that are my level of adult on RU-vid, and being okay with aging myself out of popular content. Thanks Cristine and Ben for being a good influence in that.
It took me until embarrassingly recently to realize that Ben's "apologies to X, we were gonna have you on but we ran out of time" was a running joke and not just genuine every time 😂
@@ain3750 at the end of every episode, Ben says something along the lines of "apologies to [insert celebrity name here], we were gonna have you on the show today but we ran out of time." It's a running joke because there's no way that they'd be able to a) line up so many guest appearances and b) run out of time for every single one. For a while I thought that he was being genuine and that every episode they intended to have a guest but couldn't, until I realized that was ridiculous and they were joking.
Me too!! Oh my gosh, after a while I was like, no wonder no one wants to come on! They keep "running out of time"...then I was like...oh...ohhh...I get it ...ok
If cristine is comfortable streaming her painting her nails, I'd totally be down to watch that! I don't think it would be boring in the slightest to those who are interested in nail polish. Even those who aren't can find some enjoyment in the calming aspect of it.
Yes! I wasn't even into nail polish at all until I started watching Cristine and Holo Taco came out. And I would watch her live stream painting her nails, working out, watching paint dry, watching grass grow.... Anything lol
Best things of my 2020: I’m cancer free as of 2 weeks ago This podcast keeping me entertained throughout lockdown and the year New Taylor swift albums, I’m not even ashamed to admit it 😂 Baked lots of delicious cakes and treats during lockdown Discovered some new really good books
Re: Live Streams: I think it would be cool if you did something like a "Paint Along" or something. Like, a week or so before I let people know what colors they need, any special tools. Then everyone finds out during the stream as it goes along what nail art you're walking them through. People would learn techniques by doing, and get a better feel for how long to let things dry, etc... Like, Bob Ross for nails, lol!
This would be especially comforting during the pandemic! We’re all spending less time with friends so having someone to paint my nails with would be lovely
@@annelarrabee9724 Saaaammmeeeeee! I don't think I've ever gotten it to last longer than 24 hrs, even after applying it as instructed in the video on the Holo Taco channel. I guess at least I didn't have to soak off glitter polish. 😂
I’m almost 30 so I straight up don’t get live streaming but if Cristine live-streamed herself doing her nails, I would totally watch and use that time to do my nails too so it feels like we’re all just doing our nails together.
Beware that the US just made some shitty law changes to hurt streaming with worse copystrikes, all sneaked in as "small print" in that bill that got publicly discussed as stimulus checks for people that lost their livelihoods due to the pandemic.
@@emiliesophie2904 Because of the negative way they portray basically everyone. The nerds are creepy and can be misogynistic, Sheldon in particular is autism-coded but doesn't care about how his actions affect others which is harmful, the women are either pretty but dumb or smart but no fun. There's a channel called Pop Culture Detective that goes into the misogyny of the show. It also went on for so long and there didn't seem to be any good reasons why.
@@wolfferoni damn.. I'll check it out, I really like the show, and I can't immediately see those thing, however I'll give it a watch and who knows, I might change my mind
Simply releasing a podcast is easily one of the best things happening in 2020! Also, you got me into working out and I have never been happier and healthier (physically and mentally), so thank you!
You guys did a great job throughout this year, it was a welcome way to spend an hour each week. Can't wait to see what you will come up with in 2021. Till then, happy Holidays!!
Real talk about 3 plus hour streams, coming from someone who lives alone: it’s noise in the back ground of other humans. So I’m not listening to my self or my cat for hours on end. Streams are more chill and more of a conversation, makes my home a little less lonely.
Same here! They’re also great for driving- sometimes I prefer the conversational feel of a podcast over music in the car. I drive a lot and work alone on farms most days, so long podcasts can really help give you a bit of company.
"A lot of TikTok dances where people barely move."--OMG, thank you. I can't dance at all, so it would be great watching really good dancers. But the "dancing" that is popular on TikTok is so, so, so strange to me. And I am 40, but I loved Vine when people were hating on it. I'm not just some old head that doesn't get new trends. And I know there IS good content on TikTok, but what is POPULAR is so bizarre.
If you use tiktok for like a week, only liking videos that really interest you, your for you page will be perfectly tailored to your tastes. Also all the dances seem like they aren't really dancing because a lot of people who can't dance will steal a real deal, give no credit, then completely butcher the dance. It's quite shitty.
exactly!! I have no idea why the actually creative or funny creators and videos aren't the popular ones. it Is absolutely crazy what I see my little sister watching and I don't know how anyone can be entertained by that stuff.
Agreed! I thought it was super boring at first bc there's no drama in a traditional sense but once I took it in as more of a historical reenactment, it become really interesting and I was constantly Googling what actually happened and didn't lol
I love the Crown, so made me sad when Cristine said she didn’t like lol. But at the same time the royal family intrigues me and i love learning more about them and the history of England and anything European so I think that’s why I enjoy watching it.
For me "Big Bang Theory" is a really good background show. I can watch it over and over because I can fall asleep to it. I don't like silence, and a known simple decent comedy is great. I usually use shows like "Big Bang" "The Middle" "Mom" "How I Met Your Mother" "Hot in Cleveland" "Friends" "Parks and Rec" and "Sabrina the teenage witch". Basically every night I have one of these shows playing to fall asleep to and I find it relaxing
I've never watched any of the shows you mentioned, but I get what you mean. Living alone, I like to put on shows as background noise. Lately, it's been Community. It makes me feel nostalgic to my teens, when it aired, and it's cheerful and uplifting, even if I don't actively watch it.
i would totally watch a live stream even if cristine just painted her nails it just gives a feeling of like being in company 😊 and also seeing in real time how you paint ur nails would be really fun because when i paint mine it takes so long to dry before i can put top coat on i dont understand 🤣
I'm down for live streams, however I would appreciate them uploaded to yt afterwards. Being on the other side of the world in the land down under, I usually miss the live streams of my faves. I like to put them on while I do crafty things or just wanna chill out.
I support that "eye candy" theory lmao i'm only 22 and don't get the appeal to tiktok besides cringey teens trying to be some type of celebrity to a 14 year old audience, creepy in a lot of ways 😂
There are some really great sides of tiktok! Like you could make their algorithms give you only animal content, lgbtq content, science content and so on. One of my personal tik tok faves is actually hank green haha
@@GoogelyeyesSaysHej saame i love hank so much and tiktok has so many sides! im on witchtok, booktok, lgbtq+, rants, once u “personalize” it its soo good 😍
There is definitely some absolutely amazing things on Tiktok. Its basically like every other social media site. You just gotta find some things that you're interested in. I can't tell you how many hours I've spent just laughing at my phone because I saw some really funny video. This year has been so stressful in many ways, and there's nothing wrong with just wanting to laugh at some funny videos. If there's a certain hobby you're interested in whether its scrapbooking, or knitting, or pottery, whatever, there's gonna be tons of videos and creators for you to discover. I've discovered so many amazing singers as well. And there's a lot of inspiring content as well. Like Sarah Turney. One of the only reasons Sarah's father was finally arrested, all these years later, was because of Tiktok.
@@GoogelyeyesSaysHej thanks so much!! I'll follow him, it's only been 3 weeks since this comment and i feel regret 😂😂 i got into it to look what was the appeal and found exactly what you described 🥰
One best and worst i have immediatly is jenna marbles quiting youtube. I am so so glad she's putting herself first. And focusing on her mental well being. However her content was my fav. It's just so wholesome. So good.
I've lost so much of my faith in humanity. So many people in this country straight-up don't care about other people, apparently. And so many people believe what they want to believe and refuse to look into opposing arguments or data because that doesn't support what they already want to think is true. Like... what the heck?
I'm both glad and sad that other people share my same experience. I didn’t realize how hurtful and eye opening it would be to see how friends and family reacted to everything. You want to believe the people you care about are going to do what is right, and then they do the opposite. I have been called so many names by family because of my political views, the kind of thing you'd never imagine would happen. And being high risk see the people I love blatantly disregarding the rule in place to keep people like me safe, it really messes with your head and feeling of self worth.
@@susanp3697 sorry you went through this. I'm biracial (black/white) and so much racism came to light within my family, particularly with my white aunts and uncles and even my mom. It was hurtful because I grew up with them and to see how readily they disregard me personally, my well being in general and the interests of my immediate family (including my latinx child) is upsetting. Therapy is helping me work through it, though.
@@kayenjee I'm so so sorry you had to go through that. Hatred among family members because of differences is such a horrible thing. Family is supposed to make you feel loved and accepted, not alienated. Much love to you and I hope therapy continues to help❤ its been a huge tool for me during these times
Best things of my year: I got into a school that allowed me to be more flexible since I help my parents alot. I am hopefully leaving this year not being s*icudal for the first time in 3 years. My mom is receiving treatment for her kidney failure. After my one cat died I was able to rescue and adopt 10 cats.
folklore at the top as it should! lover isn't her strongest as an album, so i get what ben's saying, but it does have some of her best tracks like cornelia street, cruel summer, false god, etc.
My general opinion on Lover is that most people would say it needs to be like 4-5 songs shorter to be a better album, but everyone would have different songs they would get rid of. For example, false god is a great song to me, but some people in the fandom think it's really mediocre. I think it's a versatile album that has multiple strengths for different people, meaning it must have something special about it, if that makes sense.
@@rowanelizabeth24 i agree!! some of the tracks are pretty mediocre, but some stand out to me a lot. overall it's not her strongest but not her worst either, and definitely doesn't deserve all the shit it gets.
@@skunkskiestink6620 It started as Justin Vernon’s solo project when he recorded the first album in a cabin in Wisconsin, but from touring and the second album onward other band members joined.
I'm with Ben on Taylor Swift. She's an amazing album artist. Even the albums I don't like don't much tell a good story as a whole. My boyfriend and I really bop to Exile in the car. He started singing the whole song when it was mentioned. 🤣
Awwwww that's so cute hope I'd find a guy like that And yeah I agree with Ben's perspective on lover it wasn't the best and definitely not the worst it's kinda okay but folklore and evermore really hit it up! Reputation is my favourite and I'm a hardcore swiftie 😀
@@sudharanichippada1841 ooo Lover is my favorite 🙈 It just dropped at the perfect time in my life when I was head over heels for my boo. Reputation was perfect too. I just got out of a really bad relationship when it came out but it doesn't feel the same at my current point in life. I'm also a hardcore Swiftie. I've been into her since her debut... My mom rented it for me from the library 😂
@@sudharanichippada1841 Here's my current ranking 1) Lover 2) Folklore 3) Fearless 4) Speak Now 5) Taylor Swift 6) Red 7) Evermore 8) Reputation 9) 1989 Reputation is low just because the earlier albums are so nostalgic for me!
@@OhLaurenBaby the early og albums were just the classics u can never go wrong with I think lover had that element back in it cause reputation and 1989 2 great pop albums came before which were kind of a adventure away from her roots but lover, folklore and evermore really bring back that teenage Taylor swift spirit back Nd can we just talk about how underrated red is it's so freaking beautiful but criminally underrated
@@OhLaurenBaby evermore is the third album that I really love love love after red and reputation it's just so pure and a lot of songs on it remind me of all too well and gorgeous for some reason
I feel the same way about TikTok and I’m looking at the TikTok dances like “what is so impressive about this?” 😂🤣😂🤣 and I’m 24 but I am just as confused as you guys.
@@meggie4959 yesss! lover is actually so good, people just don't know because they didn't give it a chance after the super pop singles. whatever though, I definitely get why Ben wouldn't like it based on his taste. l

cristine and ben are literally the white couple at the beginning of the horror movie saying "its like [Menchie] is posessed or something" and then LAUGHING giiirl tf get that haunted ass massage table out of there
I agree with Cristine about tiktok... I don’t understand the “dancing” at all. There are SOME who really dance in videos. Most of the popular videos are of people barely moving... I will never understand it. Even in the videos where they are doing a more intricate dance it looks like they put in zero effort... i just don’t find watching it enjoyable. People just want to look at pretty people. Nothing against any of the tiktokers I would just rather watch people really dancing.
The “dances” i see in RU-vid videos or Twitter videos of tik toks(I don’t have tik tok lol) they look low effort. I could do those “ dances” if I wanted to(but not as well as the big tik tokers)
There are people who really dance on tiktok, they’re just hard to find under all the big tiktokers. And even some big tiktokers CAN dance, they just don’t HAVE to put in any effort... and they don’t. They can literally post a 3 second clip of them staring into the camera and that’s sufficient enough for their followers.
Guys you NEED to find "the other tiktok" dance tiktok is soooo January. But you can find psicology tiktok or cat tiktok, I've been lately on financial advice and scientific tiktok... Way more interesting than "teenaged dancing" tiktok 🤣🤣🤣
I came to RU-vid from listening to this podcast on Spotify just so I could leave a comment... oops. 1. I think a nail painting or general chatting live stream would be greatly accepted. I personally love having 4-6 hour livestreams (usually chill gamers but it depends on my mood) just playing while I grade assignments, doing housework, or while gaming myself. It’s great for casual background noise and having “company” without getting socially exhausted! I get the same thing from this podcast honestly. I love listening and enjoy your banter even if I’m not always paying 100% attention. 2. Please keep doing quizzes on the podcast! I really enjoy hearing you both talk through your answers and justify your reasoning. Especially when I’ve taken the same quiz, it’s really interesting getting to compare my personal answer and reasoning to both of yours! Yes, you guys can get side tracked explaining, but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing- I quite enjoy it. 3. Kind of combining both my previous topics: I like how your channel has evolved into a slightly more lowkey feel. It sounds weird, but as a busy person, it’s easier for me to listen to a lowkey 1+ hour long video/livestream/podcast. Lowkey topics/tones let me multitask, but still enjoy what’s happening even when the video doesn’t have my complete attention. High energy videos can sometimes be hard to follow if I’m not sitting there dedicated to watching the video, so I really appreciate the variety your channels offer. Longer length things also save me the trouble/distraction of choosing new videos every 15 minutes. I listen to your podcast when driving or cleaning stalls (horse girl here), so long podcasts are great! I find myself disappointed some are just an hour 🤣 (This comment was a lot longer than I anticipated and I doubt many will see it, but I hope some out there feel the same!)
Read your whole comment and you are saying exactly what I feel. I want to throw my two cents in on the quizzes thing...I don't feel that the point of doing quizzes on the podcast is so much the end result as the journey there...the "side tracked" explaining the reasoning behind the why of the way they are answering the question is a lot of the whole point for me, it gives us insight into their personalities and the fact that they are both rational thinkers which is so great. I feel for Ben for him feeling cringy having to listen back while editing those videos but I really hope he will change his mind about doing quiz pods because I enjoy them.
Tiktok isn’t just dances, it has like little skits (povs),some interesting information, conspiracy theories, pranks, etc. Most people don’t care for the dances
Yes, but the "sad thing" or fact is, these dances get a billion likes, and then creators and content that seem more... "valuable.. (?)" get only a few or a few hundred likes compared to that That's the case with me.. I don't understand people bc of that AND TikTok dances Tho I can view it from a place, that it can be fun *Anyway...* lol, sorry I hope I wasn't mean there
Me, too...also I think these dances are too sexualised for teens...or I am just too old to get that ass throwing and the suggestion of certain sex acts in these Tiktok dances...
I would love for Cristine to stream, even if it's just painting your nails and chilling. Maybe try to play Among Us with your friends life Saf, Tyler, Thread Banger, etc?
Your conversation about tik tok made think about how that platform is uncomfortable for me because all I see is pretty people who knows they are pretty and thats all... like I don’t understand the appealing of that. Like I literally seeing videos of “hot guys” just looking seductively to the camera and that its and I genuinely don’t understand lol
I’m surprised Cristine said she didn’t like The Crown. It’s such a good series. I highly recommend listening to the Dirty John podcast, they missed out on heaps in the Tv series and it’s really interesting.
Agree with you. In terms of lyrics, I think lover is amazing, just look at Cornelia Street or Soon you'll get better, those have one of the most amazing structures of narrative (you can analyze them with theorists like Pimentel) and thought I also liked Folklore a lot of the lyrics weren't strong enough, the poetic figures were very simple and postmodern v: Maybe the analysis from musicology is different. But from a poetic point of view that's what I could observe, maybe someone could show me a point that I missed
I live in Croatia, and we've been having terrible earthquakes for three days in a row. Your podcast has always been calming for me, thank you for making me finally fall asleep, now I have to watch it again. 🤗
Totally agree! I was so bored but got interested in it again in season 3. I 100% credit goes to Helena bonhem Carter. She made the show interesting again for me
Haven’t watched these podcast episodes very much but I feel like Ben leads these episodes very nicely and calmly. And I low key feel that this channel is like Ben’s own😂 -By the way how do you pick so perfect subject’s for these episodes🥸👌🏼
@@lizalove91 exactly, I enjoyed it because I didn’t go into it thinking it would be particularly deep, just like rom-coms, it exists to take your mind off of the world and that’s it

The ending part of this podcast is my favorite (since everyone’s talking about their favorite parts) I think what Ben said is so sweet and you set the bar a little more higher for my next boyfriend standard haha. Love this episode and love the political view test too. Never get bored of Ben talking serious stuff, it’s one of the things I listen to and give thoughts about it
I don't think you need to worry about this podcast or a livestream being boring. I tune in to all of your podcasts because I really enjoy the dynamic you have and it's nice to hear Cristine in a calmer setting.
