I really like when fashion adapts or even recreates fashion already within games into real life. It's not as flagrant as just slapping a character on various articles of clothing, and in some cases they can look really nice. Like that collab between Acronym and Deus Ex with the sweet Adam Jensen jacket
Yeah. I love that too. What I hate is when you slap either the face/logo of the game on a tee and you call it a day or you do that atrocity that I discovered thanks to LV (aka just "trying" to get the vibe of the game, but at the end not referencing anything and having to slap a grafic tee with a face on it cuz then they'll realize "oh it's a League drop JUST MAKE A NEW DROP THAT DOESN'T HAVE ANYTHING IN COMMON WITH LEAGUE LIKE COME ON, YOU HAVE SO MUCH INSPIRATION FROM THE GAME AND YOU CHOOSE TO CHANGE COLOURS AND PRINTS ON MODELS YOU ALREADY HAD THAT DON'T MAKE ANY SENSE?! COME ON.)
The brand "Volante" does pretty high-quality Assassin's Creed and Devil May Cry pieces. They're pricey, but aside from the AC hoods they don't look out of place as just really nice, really flashy coats.
There are some really cool vintage halo reach tees with all the spartan’s helmets on it or vintage CoD logo tee shirts I keep coming across and they look pretty cool, I think they’d be dope for a casual fit, maybe on top of some cargos (btw love your content!)
I really like how Puma does things, often prefer their gaming and collab stuff to their normal items. those white have a good game nikes would actually be very popular in some of the kawaii type outfits in japan etc. so not mainstream fashion here, but would be super popular in other cultures.
Puma does a lot gaming collabos, because "gamers" are one of their main target groups. The Puma flagship store in NYC does come with two big gaming areas as well (with, I believe, some kind of Formular 1 and basketball rigs).
Louis Vuitton first hooked up with gaming in 2016 when they used Lightning from FFXIII as a model. I'm pretty sure they still keep in touch with Square Enix because in KHIII the cases that the team get their new outfits in are straight up LV cases that have been KH-ified. Roen made the outfits for Noctis and his crew for FFXV, and Acronym has that Death Stranding jacket. Watch Dogs Legion may not be officially tied to any fashion brands but the game has enough clothing to represent basically any style you want. Gaming and Fashion are only getting more involved with each other every year and I think that's sick!
You could've talk about Final Fantasy XV and the japanese based brand Roen. Roen designed Noctis and the bois outfit for the game and sold them in limited quantity in Japan (it was really expensive tho)
I think the absolute squandered opportunities that post-IT purchased Bape/Baby Milo collabs are a prime example of referencing done wrong. That DS/Acronym J1 goes hard!
I'm so glad you talked about the J1 references on it, including the yellow pocket! The yellow pocket was the reference that sold me on it. Now I just need the money to buy it.
The only video game piece i own is the n7 jacket, which is super cool because 1) its basic and functional and 2) you feel like part of the crew when you spot someone else wearing it too !
Since retro gaming and collecting is still a thing nowadays, vintage t-shirts of game franchises from the 90s and early 2000s become somewhat similar to vintage rock band t-shirts imo
A bit surpised you never mentioned splatoon, given how a big theme of the game is fashion There's merch that is just straight up clothes from the game, and they all look pretty legit. Granted they are catered to japanese pop fashion, but still
I really want one of those musterbrand Deus ex coats, too bad they dont make them anymore and they seem to be super rare. Deus ex has an awesome fashion aesthetic imo
wait what?!! you mean to tell me i could buy Big Boss' infiltration boots and that they look badass too?! i never heard of this! Edit: oh and i'm the proud owner of a Musterbrand Adam Jensen Coat from Mankind Divided...that thing is awesome :D
as someone whose hobbies are gaming and (tech)fashion I just wanna say.. I want that cyberpunk trench-coat with the neon LEDs in the collar!! acronym do your thing! :D I'd even pay you the 5k€ you probably want for these lmao
Hey Alphamale, maximizing the ROI on some Kojima merch? :D Fun vid, I've always kinda wanted a Jensen coat. The Arcteryx Keppel has caught my eyes, some seams and details on that kinda give me slight vibes like that...
Looking forward to dye stuff. Is there a cross section of techwear that characters in games wear and what might be useful inspiration for real life techwear? Could be a fun video.
I wish that Capcom will have a collab with Ann Demeulemeester for the Devil May Cry V clothes, I think the fashion on Devil May Cry V is actually realistic and not ridiculously over the top like the previous games.
No mention of ZA/UM Atelier? You should have a look, they’re similar to the various Kojima “Video game clothing made real” though not all their items are in the game as clothing. E.g. the earring based on the currency, or the shirts with illustrations based on the world of Disco Elysium. It’s cool shit basically!
@@Fadakar Snakes suit changes from 3-4 as in Cannon order, Old Snake in 4 can camo for example, how would you work that, compared to his original 'camo' outfit. Bandana ect.
One thing I wish that was brought up was the sonic puma crossover; also I love the p5 reference playing in the background, I'm about to finish my second run of p5r
Hey Antwon! New to your channel and love the content. Not sure if you or anyone has mentioned mustardbrand, lucajackets or volantedesign. -Mustardbrand has game inspired clothing with little to no branding depending on the piece. They make jackets, shirts, pants etc. -Volantedesign makes gaming/general nerd culture inspired jackets. They're normally a waxed or sealed canvas. I believe they play with other materials. -Luca Jackets do more obvious nerd culture gear. But they do make some general design leather jackets as well.
Here's some crazy expensive gaming merch: Capcom released 3 different ultra limited edition versions of Devil May Cry 5, that included the jacket of V, Nero or Dante and would cost ¥600K, ¥750K and ¥900K respectively which would convert to about £4300/€4800/$5600, £5400/€6000/$7000 and £6500/€7200/$8500 in today's money. Just to let you know, the cheapest edition is more expensive than a leather jacket by Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent and has the average price of a leather Louis Vuitton jacket...
Hypebeast pushes a lot of gaming clothing. I think it's cringe 99% of the time. They posted Pikachu branded athleticwear through Mizuno earlier today. It's pretty minimal and doesn't look too bad. Do you recall the horror that was the Dragon Ball x Adidas collab?
I hope Musterbrand or Acronym re-release the Deus Ex: Mankind Divided jackets. They hardly look game related at all, but they're functional and modern. I couldn't find them for sale anywhere, and settled for a used Acronym J38-GT on Grailed.
I think anime collabs have made bigger waves than gaming has in the recent years. Noticeably the Coach x Naruto x Michael.B.Jordan collab and the Ground Y (Yohji Yamamoto) collabs with Evangelion and Ghost in the Shell. You even got supreme collabs with Akira, but in my honest opinion was a bit whack.
True - and anime has such a strong visual aesthetic (and fandom) it lends itself super well to certain fashion items. Those Ground Y pieces in particular are legendary.
It's the same with anime merch not many people want to walk around with with a massive anime girl face on their shirt but subtile patterns graphics that relate to the anime/game that only people who have experienced it will recognise that's the best kind of merch
Stray Rats recently released a collab with Sonic the Hedgehog and honestly it came out perfect. SR’s bootleg aesthetic combined with the imagery of classic Sonic from the 90’s feels like they had a real vision, and saves it from being cringey gamer merch.
I think designers need to change the perspective of products from a "gamer" product that is fashionable to a fashion product that has gaming references.
Completely different question: Anyone here owns P10-DS? Don‘t have any Acr pants yet and after researching for a long time I still can‘t decide whether to order L or XL. L could be a little tight on the butt and have no stack at all on shoes. XL could be a little too wide and have a lot of stack on shoes. Measured though all of my pants and tried researching google. Didn‘t help. Would you rather go tight/no stack or loose/stack on these? Are these very tight in the groin area? Thx for your vids Antwon
This post (www.reddit.com/r/techwearclothing/comments/cpanci/acronym_p10s_enfin_leve_ameztu_comparison/) compares the P10-S with the Ameztu, both in size L. Stotz fits vastly differently from Dryskin and will affect the overall cut and silhouette of the pant on body , but length measurements should still be helpful. Hope this helps.
Ernest I weigh the same as the guy on reddit, but I’m considerably taller. I‘m slim (yet not skinny), but have a relatively large butt/groin area. That‘s why I usually wear a size less in length, compared to width (36 width and 34 length for non-stretch-denim). I‘ve got the feeling, that neither L nor XL would fit perfectly. It‘s probably rather either perfect width against perfect length. Not sure. I‘d usually go for the wider choice, but not sure, if P10 would look silly with to much stacking on the shoes.
