As an older person I honestly love the avocado eye cream. I think it’s thickened/ tightened the skin under my eyes and does work on puffy eyes. I am so grateful for your introducing me to a range both me and my daughters love to use.
I’m so upset with Glow Recipe for taking away my holy grail banana moisturizer. I can’t even buy from them anymore because it actually pains me. That moisturizer did it all for me - it cleared up my acne prone skin, moisturized my dry skin for like 24 hours straight, and it looked amazing under makeup! I normally have at least one breakout going somewhere, but when I was using this daily my skin was clear (only the occasional single zit sometimes) for TWO years. I was so happy! Then, I went to repurchase and was beyond heartbroken to know it was discontinued. I even bought a backup on Amazon for fucking $80! But I’m so sad about it. I’m on a journey to find a new moisturizer that does it all for me, and my skin has been a wreck as I try to find something else. Absolutely devastated.
i never got to try it but i heard that it just wasn't popular. i guess bananas aren't a cute enough fruit to obsess over? i was interested in it but i think their marketing with the banana moisturizer was barely existent. but when i checked again, it was gone. i do hope they bring it back.
Only thing I can recommend is, if you still have an old bottle, look up the ingredients and whenever you find another product you want to try, compare the ingredients! It's very tedious, but I know how it feels to get stuck on something and then have it be discontinued. 😅
The watermelon glow pore-tight toner is my absolute favorite skincare product now and I bought it after your last Glow Recipe review. It’s been amazing and has changed my skin so much! I use 3 different products from Glow Recipe now and I’m slowly building up my collection as I learn more about my skin.
I totally agree about the idea of them releasing a thicker night cream! I recently started tretinoin for my cystic acne and it has worked wonders, but it has lead me to load up with thicker moisturizers at night. I love using some of Glow Recipie's products during the day but I would definitely want to try a thicker "repair" cream if they released one.
The watermelon mist is soooo good over makeup!! It makes my makeup look dewy and more natural but not oily Edit: I completely agree with your review on the sunscreen. It’s difficult to rub in and it pills easily throughout the day.. so sad because I wanted to love this so bad
You know what also pills horribly? Is the AHA watermelon night mask.. that is terrible:( I have a bunch of their products and love all of them- except this. I purchased the big one and I can’t even use it. I’ve tried using way less to see if that helps but nothing works. It’s awful..
Your actually the one who got me me hooked on Glow Recipe when I first started my skincare journey and let me tell u it’s changed my life. I now have tried every product and I am obsessed. I just started using the firming serum and so far I love it so much. My skin has never been better!! ❤ Having healthy dewy skin has really helped with my confidence and has played a huge part in helping with my mental health so thank you
I honestly feel like Glow Recipe is my fave Vit C serum and I was always wondering why other skinfluencers don’t mention it very much either- glad that it got your seal of approval! It has helped my PIH from rosacea’s reign on my face during Covid and saw results 2-3 months of daily use and within a year I also saw evening skin tone, less PIH, and I finally feel comfortable walking outside without a full coverage makeup look like I had to during 2020-2021 when my PIH was really bad. I thank Glow Recipe for it! ❤
Would you consider doing a dupes video of some of these products - if they even exist, of course 😅 I love how thorough and honest you always are, thank you!
One dupe product I found is the Yes to Watermelon Daily Gel Moisturizer. I originally found it at Target and it works pretty good for my skin and for a while seemed to be the only moisturizer that worked well in winter. I don't use it as much anymore because I'm trying to find more products and honestly I think I'm going to switch back to Glow Recipe and try the Plum Pump, but if you want to try any dupes I'd recommend Yes to Watermelon.
After never being taught the benefits of skincare or really putting any effort into caring for my skin (besides sunscreen), i made the decision to care for my skin the way i would care for the rest of my body. I bought the mini babies set as a way to get into skincare, not knowing much about what each of the products do. Wanting to learn more i stumbled across your video and just wanted to say you are such a wonderfully informative RU-vidr. You really provide a comprehensive rundown of the products and make beneficial comparisons between their other products. Thank you for putting the time into your videos! Really appreciate it 🥹🫶🏻
The blueberry cleanser sounds great as a “restart” cleanser. Like you’ve neglected skincare for let’s say a week and you can feel it needs a GOOD cleanse. Or in the summer and you’ve been sweating excessively plus sunscreen residue is on the skin. A single K.O. Cleanser
I work outside and wear sunscreen and sweat all day, nothing makes my face feel so clean like the blueberry cleanser! It’s my favorite cleanser I’ve tried. It’s a little drying but not in an uncomfortable way for me, it just makes me feel properly clean.
You got me onto Glow Recipe and I’ve now become obsessed with it. My skin just loves their products, plus the packaging is super cute! My skin thanks you, my purse does not 😂💕. Xx
Watching this with the strawberry smooth serum on my face and Cerave moisturizer on top 👀 Bought the serum with no expectations and my skin absolutely loves it!
I generally love Glow Recipe, but the one product that hasn't been great for me is the lip pop. I definitely have an issue with being "addicted" to lip products, as in, I think I overuse them and that just makes my lips way too dry without them. But the lip pop seems to last for way less time than what I use now, the ELF Ride Or Die lip balm. At that GR price point, it's not effective enough ... even though that scent is also totally addictive!! The soft hint of color is really nice too.
Glow Recipe is the only skincare I invest a good amount of money in, because it’s just perfect on my sensitive skin. I do keep my routine basic with the avocado cleanser, the fine mist, vitamin c eye cream and plump plump cream, and it’s done wonders to my skin. Thanks for getting me invested into this lovely brand 💜
I've only used a couple of Glow Recipe products and really loved them. But I'm OBSESSED with their packaging. The bottles are so beautiful especially that new pomegranate serum 😍
I love their packaging too! I’ve washed out my empties & refill with my current products (I’m guilty of always trying something new when I run out of products).
I love their packaging too but some of them are shaped oddly and it makes it really difficult to get out the remaining product- even when it’s still half full. I end up having to pound the bottle like it’s ketchup and I still don’t get anything out. I wish they’d put more of their products in tubs like the plum plump cream
You have AMAZING timing. I’ve been rewatching your older video on Glow Recipe and really wanted to see what has changed lol. (Thanks to you) I got my travel set in the mail yesterday so I can try everything before buying full sized :)
I love Glow Recipe. I've been using them for about 5 years and have always had great results. The Banana Souffle was a great night moisturizer or for day in dry cold climates. I'm so bummed they discontinued it. I also find the avocado eye and night treatment to also be too thick and lacking in retinol. Plus the color looks like avocados that have turned. The original formula of the night mask was so much better at holding in moisture. Edit; I hated the sunscreen. With in a few minutes my eyes were burning, plus it pilled, and on top of Glow products!
I love seeing how different people react to products! I’m the opposite with the blueberry cleanser and avocado eye cream. I thought it was stripping for my oily skin and it wasn’t the worst I’ve tried but it was disappointing for Glow Recipe so I got so excited when they released the avocado cleanser. I use the avocado retinol eye cream more like a mask and blend it out over my face, concentrated in the eye area. I also still prefer the Banila Co balm over others even Glow Recipe’s papaya. My only issue at this moment is how small the plum moisturizer is; I’d love a bigger size. My holy grails are the watermelon toner, plum plump moisturizer, and lip pops ❤
James, you did a great job reviewing Glow Recipe. I absolutely adore this brand. Not only do their products actually work but they are packaged beautifully and made with wonderful ingredients. I must say that I 100% agree with your review on these products. I had previously gotten the Fruit babies kit for Christmas and I also got a Tatcha kit. I was told to try the products and see what I liked best and pick some out for my Birthday. I went with all Glow Recipe! I got the Avocado Cleanser, the Watermelon Glow Toner, Pomegranate Peptide Firming Serum, Avocado Recovery Serum, Guava Vitamin C Gel Cream, Plum Plump Hyaluronic Cream, Watermelon Glow AHA Night Treatment, the Watermelon Dew Drops and a deluxe travel size of the Strawberry Smooth Salicylic Serum & Strawberry BHA Pore Smooth Blur Drops. I absolutely fell in love with the Strawberry Salicylic Serum! It is amazing for spot treatments and just for a daily serum. It truly does have everything in it. I also love the cleanser, the dew drops, the toner, and the plum Hyaluronic cream. The Guava Vitamin C Bright Eye Gel Cream has been my favorite eye cream ever! It doesn’t make my eyes water and it actually works! I am so excited to try the products that I haven’t tried. I had just ran out of everything and am looking at a cabinet full of products that I know I love and some that I am super interested in trying. I love Beautiful packaging so I am super stoked that I found a product in gorgeous glass bottles that I actually LOVE!!!💚💜💚
I have fallen in love with the watermelon toner! That with the dew drops is the perfect makeup prep! Chefs kiss 👌🏻. I had them on my wish list for ages after watching your reviews and put it off because they’re a little pricey but now that I’ve tried them, I get it! Will repurchase ❤
I purchased some Glow Recipe because of you. Thank you. Great video. Going to rewatch and make notes as I do of the additional products I want to purchase. 💜💜💜💜
That's one thing I love about glow recipe ,is the totsly realistic before and after pictures they don't pretend they can do miracles , but the fifference is there and it's realistic
I really want to try the glow recipe ! The watermelon product really intrigues me ❤❤ Happy Sunday James !!! So happy to see you today !!! Love your channel 💜💜💜💜
This was SO helpful, I've looked at glow recipe so many times and not known where to start, this has pointed me towards things that may suit me and was so informative, thank you x
I wanted to ask, as someone with Hispanic heritage with a similar skin type to yours I've benefited a lot from watching you, do you have any recommendations for other influencers that are dealing with similar skin but older? My mom is getting into skin care for the first time ever and I want to help her find products for her skin concerns. I've learned a lot from you and I appreciate your science good approach and the fact you are wary of the whole clean beauty industry. My mom is sadly the type that takes people by what they say and I've been struggling to find someone I would trust to not make her buy thousands of dollars on things she doesn't need. She bought one of those LED masks that's 4,000$ when it's actually not going to cover her concerns with her skin. I thought I'd reach out and just ask if you are familiar with any other channels like yours but for older skin. I've gotten the confidence to be able to buy and enjoy skin care again thanks to you and lab muffin and I'd love to find a channel like that for my mom.
I got the glow recipe water melon toner and niacinamide serum as birthday gift last year from Sephora but I never used it until now and I’m loving itttt specially the toner. It smells so good
I enjoy so many products from glow recipe also. The one I hate is the cleansing balm. I’ve tried it twice and got the same horrible result. Regardless how little I use the minute I add water it turns into a thick greasy mess that just doesn’t break up. The one product I didn’t expect to enjoy as much as I do is the body lotion. It smells divine and fast absorbing. I’ve been adding more products to my routine
The plum moisturiser is my absolute favourite! The smell is amazing, and not all chemically. The texture is also so lightweight, but not thin, and it never pills under my makeup. If you’re wanting to buy anything from them, this moisturiser is the one!!
I own the entire range except the body cream. I love it. I tried inkey list hyaluronic acid and it was nowhere near as good as glow recipe, it was so sticky and felt so cheap. I wish I’d just spent money on glow recipe, especially as I found out it actually has better quality ingredients. ly James ❤
I absolutely love Glow Recipe and notice instant results when I use it. I don’t use it every day because it’s expensive but about twice a week as a special treat. You were talking about your dark circles being from thin skin. I also have this problem and recently discovered that there are many vitamins I was deficient in resulting in even darker purplish under eye circles. Vitamin C, vitamin e, vitamin K, Iron, b12, omega 3s, and zinc
I use mostly glow Recipe products, because I've found some great ones without aloe. Since I'm allergic to aloe, and skincare products tend to use it, I have to be really careful.
You actually got me onto this brand, I love it - the Watermelon Pore Tight Toner is so good. When I've had a shocking day, doing my skincare and just smelling this product - knowing it's doing great things for my skin, is the best way to end the day 🙂
Just because James threw in the e.l.f. lip thing I wanted to add for anyone who's looking for a good affordable lightweight moisturizer alternative that the e.l.f. "Superhydrate moisturizer" is really good - I never thought a gel would do it for my dry skin but this one feels like it really drenches my skin and keeps it hydrated. I assume it's the squalane that's in it.
I recently started using that moisturizer because it's affordable, contains niacinimide, and is fungal acne safe. I'm having a bad flare-up, and I've been using it for a few days with noticeable results, and it feels really nice to apply on the skin ❤
I swear- im living vicariously through you James 😂 I want to use and enjoy Glow Recipe soooo badly but im EXTREMELY sensitive to fragrance. (My whole body is sensitive and reactive to everything, but that's beside the point.) If i use wrong hand soap i get an allergic reaction all down my arms. If i use the wrong toner i get severe reactions all over my face and neck. However... I really enjoy the thought of using a✨️ *lush* ✨️ product that smells great 😌 But I don't have that luxury... Idk. I sometimes get a bit weirded out when I see people online, who were previously loving a product suddenly turn away from it because someone told them "Fragrance is bad." Like "oh my god you're right! Fragrance should be banned from everything, how did i not see this before!!" Like coman dude... if the product works for your skin, who cares. Just enjoy it. Some people want to use it but physically can't, so shut up and enjoy your pink watermelon toner.
@PiXie232 weird, i never had that problem, I went through tons of bottles, and my skin loved it. It is a mask though it's meant to be washed off in the morning, and when you apply it you just put it onto the skin, you don't rub it in and you're not supposed to put anything on top of it.
Yes! Love Glow Recipe! Have just ordered the Pomegranate Peptide Firming serum and can’t wait to try it. I also ordered the Avocado eye cream as I’ve got fine lines and dryness under my eyes, so I’m hoping just a tiny little bit of this will help - particularly with the ‘radiator face’ thing we get in winter. Love your videos. Thanks James!
I just ordered Glow Recipe because of James. I got the brand new Cloudberry toner because it sounds like it has all my skin needs covered. Also trying some of the other products mentioned here. I'm excited!
I love Glow Recipe products as well & have used many but I’m guilty of trying new products when I need to reorder so don’t have any on my counter right now. The comment I wanted to make is relating to your comment on Vitamin C products. In all my 50+ years of skin care I’ve never used C products but about a year ago I decided to try them & have used two brands daily since. I was amazed after about three months the difference I saw in my skin. It just seemed to shine from brightness. I just ordered Beekman 1802 Vitamin C Brightening Serum & anxious to start using it. Love your vlogs & Welsh Twins. You’re both so beautiful. Adele San Antonio, TX
I 🤍 Glow Recipe, I was obsessed with the sleep mask, then the body lotion, then the dew drops 🍉 So in love with the packaging, the fragrances, the products themselves! So good!
I say if I HAD to choose only one brand of skincare, it would be Glow Recipe because they cover all bases for me. I do feel overwhelmed at times with all the serum choices - I love them all but it’s a lot to incorporate
Glow Recipe has really quality ingredients at an affordable price point!! I have been using the watermelon exfoliating mask for a little while, and my skin always feels amazing after.
I love love love glow recipe! but I didn't care for the blueberry cleanser. I could never get it to work right. I'd love to try the eye cream and the cleanser you mentioned. The only thing I don't like about it is the price. It's so expensive I can only buy products I find second hand. My personal favorite product I've tried is the face mist!
Hello ladies & gents: I 100% vouch for the blueberry cleanser if your situation is similar to mine (living in 100% humidity in the panhandle of Florida with oily combo skin). An absolute godsend. Leaves you feeling so clean you can skip confession. 🎉🎉🎉
The original avocado mask glow recipe used to have was the absolute best night cream, and something happened when they reformulated it. It’s not nearly as nice with the old one, and I think it’s the addition of the retinol. I’m so so sad. Like James said, they need to make the serum into a moisturizer or something. On the other hand, that papaya cleanser is a holy grail! It’s my absolute favorite first step cleanser!
The watermelon dew drops don’t do me justice but the toner and the mist… I love! I just bought the pomegranate serum I really benefit from the strawberry bha. I also love love the plum plump hyaluronic cream ❤
The whole strawberry line is a non negotiable for my oily acne prone skin. the serum is literally magic and the blur drop is the first product ive seen actually control my oil
The tranexamic Acid in the vitamin c serum isn’t high enough to make a difference! At 1.1% only. It should be between 2-5%, so I skipped this! I really wanted to try it though😞 As a dry girly I agree with you about the moisturizer However the plum moisturizer over layered skincare does great! You can use a lightweight oil on top if you really need to.
I absolutely adored the avocado sleep mask and eye mask. It appears theyre discontinued. Idk if the eye cream is the same thing with a new name or if they reformulated it. But those 2 sleep mask products were some of my favorites.
Definitely felt the same way over the newer cleanser. Blueberry started making my face feel stripped and tight after using everyday. Now that avocado is here I don’t have to alternate with the guava
I love a lot of GR products. Especially the cleansing balm and toner. I'm also among the minority of people who hasn't had any issue whatsoever with the Watermelon glow spf! I never ever experienced pilling, honestly. And makeup always wore beautifully over it. I'm using another one now just because I like to try different brands, but I would repurchase the GR one in the future. Thanks for this extensive overview of the brand! There's a couple of items I need to add to my Cult Beauty cart immediately 😂❤
Glow recipe makes me to dive in skincare. I used to not care about my skin 🤣 but your review of GR just made me interested. Then i bought it. Loveeeeeeeeeeeee their products so much. Skincare for me needs to be exciting! I agree that sensorial experience in skincare is important. Packaging, smell, texture, it just keeps me going. ❤️ although i only use their products during exfoliant night, i can say their products really contributing to my skin today! ❤
i never used a toner before seeing your last GR video and the watermelon toner is so easy and so i got the plum plump moisturiser and Hue Drops which are a game changer. I work from ome but on zoom all the time and was putting on foundation daily this has changed since getting to grips with the hue drops.. i am 48 F and have pretty decent skin (thanks for the dna mum and dad 😂😂 ) so no major issue and GR just works xx
I bought the balm because I saw you mention and show it before, and I'm a sucker for nice packaging. I haven't even opened it yet because I'm still working through a Laneige chocolate mini, but it's almost edible how pretty it looks.
James, I've only just finally tried any Glow Recipe after watching you for a couple years because I got the Dew Drops in a June beauty box. Unfortunately I really do not enjoy it. The thickness combined with the overwhelmingly sweet watermelon scent feels to me like I'm rubbing melted, sugary candy onto my skin 😭🍉 Am I going to like their other products or is this just maybe a sensory thing with the whole brand?! Is that serum quite a departure since it's the only one referred to as a "makeup skincare hybrid" for the highlighting glow? The others appear and sound much more promising for my preferences & needs, delicious even, but this viral product everyone loves has me questioning the whole shebang for myself now.
Those Dew Drops are the thickest product they make. Their other products aren’t thick like that at all. I do agree those do tend to feel sticky on the face. The Plum Plump moisturizer feels like a watery gel cream. It’s very light and easy to spread, and soaks in nicely. The watermelon toner is very thin and slippery, and smells great! It’s not sticky or thick at all. The Avocado cleanser makes the face feel soooo soft, smooth, and clean. It’s so good! And you really only need a tiny amount to do the whole face. I honestly think the Dew Drops are one of the worst products of their entire brand. Everything else is amazing! Everything else feels kind of watery and gel like. The watermelon AHA/BHA is thin and watery too. Not sticky at all. The Dew Drops are the only pretty sticky thing they make
@@EnvyBlu Thanks so much - that's exactly what I thought must be the case! It seeming to be the actual worst of the bunch despite its "viral" status and looking nothing like the smooth, clear, light and yummy gel textures of the entire rest of the brand! I feel gaslit 😂 Appreciate you 💕
They use to have the best nighttime moisturizer! It was an avocado ceramide night mask that was thick and so hydrating. They discontinued it for the serum, which I wish they had not. I miss it still!
Thank you for this video!. With so many new products coming out... I was also wondering if you could do a budget version of your favorite products from glow
25:30 I think I prefer the Watermelon moisturizer over the Plum Plump moisturizer, but I don’t like the scent as I think it in the moisturizer has more of an overbearing scent Buuut for winter times, I’d go for the Plum Plump moisturzer for sure
Could you please do a video on the purge phase when you start using retinol? You mentioned it in one of your videos but I'm not sure which, but I'd love to hear more about it.
I love glow recipe. I use the plum plump moisturizer vs the watermelon one and my skin likes it much better. The watermelon one was too light and serum like for me. The banana one was amazing in the winter, but sadly discontinued
New sub🥰, I found you today looking for an updated Glow Recipe video from Hyram! I love GR because of the experience each product I’ve been able to try that for texture, scent, packaging, etc… EXCEPT the papaya enzyme balm 🥲 I desperately wanted to love it, but it was too difficult for me to remove from my skin. Just too emollient almost, it felt like my skin was suffocating. I liked hearing your takes on all of their serums, the options are almost overwhelming at this point 😂😅
I'm still mourning the Banana Souffle moisturizer. It was a go to for me - it felt like slathering banana pudding on my face in the best way and gave me just enough moisture. I'm sad it's gone
I totally get it. Beauty of joeson is my glow recipe! A woman asked me about their sun stick. By the end of the conversation I’m sure she thought I was part of an MLM😂
I’ve been a Glow Recipe user since they launched back in 2014. The pineapple vitamin c was my holy fucking grail and I was so sad when they discontinued it. I immediately tried the guava vitamin c serum but it just doesn’t compare to the OG pineapple serum… it even caused me to break out ☹️ I’ve been using the watermelon toner for years though and I still love it
I love everything from GR that I’ve tried except the plum plump gloss stuff, in the little plum tub. As it wears my lips end up feeling like my fingers do when I’ve been in the water too long.
