Oh mate this reminds me of a game I played in Eynsford, Kent many years ago. 34C in Kent so a very warm day. We stopped at this great little pub called The Malt Shovel to have BBQ ribs and a pint of Harvey's (Kent also loved a good ale) The ground had the River Darent flow past, so all the locals would go there on a warm weekend. You had to move people off the ground to put the flags out and the stumps in. Everyone at the ground then settle n to watch the game. I came on to bowl 3rd over at my end (an Aussie quick) Took an over to get into my work. 2nd ball of my 2nd over and I could hear the murmurs around the crowd. I then knock the openers off stump out of the ground and can hear the WOOOOOAAAAAAHHHHH!!!! And the applause of the crowd! I bowled 16 overs unchanged from my end and took 5/52 and walked off to the applause of the 500 or so locals watching! Villag cricket was so much fun. Mate if you ever come over and lay here in WA, post on Here and I will come out of retirement and send a few down. Early 40s, retired to soon.... still love the game. 🙂🙂🏏🏏🏏
Hmm. I have to say I'm always disappointed when teams move their star players down into lower teams just because their upper teams dont have games. It's extremely unfair and unsportsmanlike, I hope your team doesn't make a habit of it.
If I am not mistaken, in my league players have to play the last 6 or so games in the team they've spent most time in to avoid clubs loading their 2s and 3s to avoid relegation (but people can play up)
@@angusharley5947 yep, same in my league; but regardless teams obviously doing this kind of thing before those rules start applying is disrespectful to the game and the fans.
I feel this, not sure about this league but ik in the Warwickshire league there's a list of banned players who can't play 2s off how much they've played for the 1s in said season
Last week on the channel there was a huge debate over spirit of cricket (handling the ball dismissal), where did that debate go for this week (walking after edging)? It's easy to criticize opponents when the outcome is not in your favor.
I suppose one is a very clear cut thing, whilst the other has a degree of uncertainty. I couldn't count how many times (in the nets) where I thought I edged the ball but the bowler said I didn't. I feel far too often it becomes an issue of doubt for the batsman rather than one of morals.
I was the bowler mate, I understand why people don’t walk but for an ex Sri Lankan test player playing 2XI cricket I’d have thought he would do the decent thing
You can’t really complain about shithousery like appealing for handling the ball when you put your first team into the second team. Just to make sure you win
Gareth here is what you need to do.. Play a social game somewhere where it really doesnt matter and go in there and enjoy.. Dont focus on the runs, focus on just having fun. STOP putting soo much pressure on yourself.. it will come brother trust me... Fellow South African Advice here.. Played many years for Villagers club in Irene Pretoria..
@@canyoucricket hi mate, just to let you know I did not get a chance to bat and use my GoPro. However, I do have it all set up soo for future I can use it in whichever team I get put in (the club I play for has 8 teams). This Saturday just gone I played for the 5th XI we won by 10 wickets and got the opposition all out for 62! 🔥
I normally open but I was scared before now I want to rip the ball open. I’m also a bowler. Pace and spin I’m alright at both now this man and his team is shaping me to be a great all rounder
Absolutely sensational batting by Ethan and Harry.. @canyoucricket I just lost the final of the tournament scored only 20(22) and my team couldn't defend the 135. It was a 16 overs games due to weather conditions. My past 5 innings scores are 40(22), 8(7) 4*(3) 86(56) and 20(22).
Any tips for hitting sixes bro? I always play like a test player. Hitting fours there and there .. but can’t hit one out the boundary .. previous innings of mine have been 2(4), 4(2), 15(20). 0(3), 37(56), 7(5), 65(78). Only problem I have really
@@frxxseazsn Hi Ethan I just saw your batting and really liked it. Even, I don't hit sixes often but one or two in an innings with proper timing. I focus on boundaries and two's and singles at early phase of my innings once I got the start (30+) I look after full pitch or short balls to hit it over the park. Focus on your natural batting and technique and timing. I suggest you should go over the bowler's head. Start from there and over covers and then towards deep mid wicket and long on. You won't find hitting straight sixes if you target Pacers and spinners with proper timing. Also try this drill of hitting 30 sixes on daily basis range from mid wicket, long on, straight, long off, covers. Try full swing of the bat with timing.. It will help a lot trust me. It helped me too.. I hope I might have helped you with this answer.
@@rohitvyas9 Hi Rohit. It’s not the Ethan in the video. But thank you so much for the advise. Will try doing this over the week, before my match on Friday. Really appreciate it.
Keep your head down. Time the ball - don't overhit it! If you'd like more tips, I've created a ''CYC Batting Tips'' document. Follow the link and check it out 💪 canyoucricket.com/en-gbp/products/can-you-cricket-top-tips?
I really love my B3 bat. For power hitting you generally want a slightly heavier bat which gives more power. Here's a link to B3 website and use the discount code: cyc10 b3cricket.com/
Surely the league will have something to say about playing your 1s players in the 2s game? We'd be docked points or penalised if we did that in our league
@@vshark7869 the guy is the best batsman at the club by a long way and will probably be one of the leading run scorers in the 1st XI division. Imagine turning up for a 2nd XI match and you see PJ playing for the opposition. They could have won the toss, batted first and he could have scored 150+ alone... If he was scheduled to go in at 6/7, then it could be a bit more understandable.
@@dg9610 idk he doesn’t play like an international player. Almost every match I’ve seen on this channel he scores like 20(40). Don’t see what distinguishes him from any other club cricketer
@@vshark7869 can you please enlighten us how a former international player should play? The guy reached the pinnacle of cricket and represented Sri Lanka 58 times at test level. I'm sorry, but you don't do that unless if you're a seriously talented cricketer. If you can't tell the difference between a player of that calibre and a standard club player, I'd urge you to stop looking at stats and go and watch some different levels of cricket.
you sound much more nervous then you use to just relax and don’t think of all the ways you can get out, instead think of all the ways you can score runs.
