I as a single father made this meal for my family. Thinking if it doesn't turn out right there's always takeout. But to my amazement, it came out great which is an understatement, to say the least. I was sitting there with the biggest smile on my face as my family dug into the Stew and wanted more. Thank you for your receipt which will stay in our family for years to come.
I live in Belize Central America. I live among the Mayans who mostly eat rice and beans, chicken. They cook on wood fires and in hand made earthen stoves. I introduced this stew to my workers, as I made a rather large pot of it and was in no way to eat it all myself. Apparently, my stew was taken to several people in the village to feed their families. The response was crazy! I am currently making a pot four times the size you made of stew to take to the village. They have never had Beef Stew before. These are poor people who could never afford the ingredients to this meal. Honestly it would take a weeks pay to afford this one pot of stew. So they are very excited with this. I will continue to provide them with this treat as often as I can. Thank you from the southern jungles of Central America. Raven
not just anyone would take a weeks worth of wages to feed others they don’t know, it’s incredibly selfless of you and I admire that a lot! greetings from Texas!
Some suggestions; the beef was crowded in the pan and as a result it was more steamed than seared as you can see from the large amount of water she ended up with in the pan. Use only the stew pot; sear the meat in batches and remove to a plate. Then cook the mirepoix in the stew pot but add generous amount of tomato paste when it is nearly cooked which adds a nice carmelization. Deglaze the pot with wine. Easy on the worcestershire. No sugar needed.
@@Oscarnodwannabe It's interesting that she uses either tri-tip or 'roast' whatever that means. Probably referring to chuck. Tri-tip doesn't make sense because you are making stew not steak. If you used tri-tip it may be tender after searing, but what's the point? You're going to cook for a long time, so the tri-tip will go from tender to tough (it's complicated), back to tender. And chuck costs less.
Made this 2 days ago and it was sooo good. Meat was super tender, potatoes are soft but still held their shape, and broth was perfect. I had to omit celery b/c I forgot it but it still turned out amazing. Pair this with buttered some baguette, trust me!
I made this yesterday...and it turned out AMAZING. My fiance is still raving. I only adjusted two things to the recipe. I used pearl onions, and I just cooked each of the elements in my stew pot instead of separate skillet. No skillet to clean in the end and still got the desired result. I will be making this stew a lot. Thank you, Tatyana. And you are lovely, btw.
2lb beef roast Onion Carrot Peas Baby potato or whatever potato 2tb flour 4 cups Beef broth Mushroom Celery 1 cup tomato sauce 2table spoons worcestershire sauce 1 teaspoon smoked paprika 1/2 table spoon of sugar Italian herbs -oregano. Then add peas and bite size potatoes. Cook stew for 20+ or until potato is fork tender.
Hi, idk if anyone here would know this, but I am making this tomorrow, and my family doesn't like mushrooms, what stage would be best to add the flour instead? Please and thank you so much
I was today old (68) when finally learned how to make beef soup. I made your recipe today along with a cast iron skillet of fluffy buttermilk cornbread. I only test tasted it this evening. Tomorrow I’m gonna get down 4real. It is awesome. Thank you for posting.
Interesting. Here in South Africa my aunt usually does that. She mixes the beef and potatoes in a dry flour mixture, then its browned in oil and simmered into a beautiful thick stew
Had this for dinner tonight and it was the best stew I ever had never mind made! And the kids loved it! Added a little barley and green beans just bc I love both in my stew. Warmed up buttered baguette from Costco for dipping and delish! Total comfort food on a cold winter night. Don’t fret adding the wine doesn’t taste like alcohol at all and adds depth. So good!
So I decided to try my hand at making a meal for my family for the first time. I found this video and tried it out. My family and I agreed that this stew gets a 20 out of 10!! It was phenomenal and we ate every bit of the pot! Thank you so much for this and for doing a great job explaining each step!
Such an amazing recipe, I added 2 bay leafs to the stew, and seasoned my potatoes with garlic powder, onion powder, a table spoon of red wine vinegar and salt(used very low sodium broth), it came out amazing. Thank you!
I’ve cooked this stew twice now and I’ve followed the instructions completely and have only been impressed, very east to prep, very easy to execute, not much mess to clean up... Thank You for sharing... 🙏🙏
@@TatyanasEverydayFood even more impressive is you are coming back still today in 2020 to respond to comments like this. Such dedication to your channel! New Subscriber here now
Im Asian and looked for western recipes as i pity my husband who has been eating rice daily for past months 🤣 so i decided to cook this and omg he was sooo happy full of praise and gave me full marks! 🤣 he even asked me to do it again tomorrow! He was super impressed all thanks to you!! Thank u so much again!! ❤
You're so welcome! I'm very happy the stew was a hit with your family! :) My husband always asks for seconds, too! I try to make a large pot and freeze leftovers for later!
I’ve made this twice, first time with wine and second without(replaced with more broth). Both times VERY delicious 🤤 Such an easy recipe to follow, thank you! 🤗
I made this today for Sunday dinner. My family loved it, even the picky eaters. I thk the red wine adds great flavor. I let it simmer for 2 1/2 hours, the meat and potatoes were super tender. I served with rice. A great, hearty meal. My mom is very picky but she asked did I make enough for leftovers tomorrow 😀. Thank you! I will definitely make this again
I’ve been using your recipe for a few years now. I’ve made it for pretty much every major holiday and other special occasions, as well as just randomly every so often and every time, I get rave reviews. I’ve even had a couple of (former) vegans have some and they couldn’t stop talking about it. My girlfriend is one of them and she has been asking me to make more for weeks now. Thanks so much for this recipe!!! It’s so delicious.
I made this for my husband and he loved it…. I didn’t have red wine so I just use the stock only and it turn out great. He kept praising me for marking the best soup ever . I’m so happy I found this video.
I made this today and I am blown away how delicious this stew is! I seasoned my stew meat and flowered the meat before I sautéed it. But followed the recipe after that. I will make this a lot this winter!
Respectfully, Tatyana. Your husband, children, friends, parents, relatives and future grandchildren must love you so much for sure. Thanks. Great recipe.
I’ve been looking for a beef vegetable soup recipe that really spoke to me but I wasn’t really convinced… UNTIL I WATCHED THIS VIDEO! I can’t wait to try this!
All I can say is, WOW! This recipe is phenomenal to say the least. Made this tonight and it’s just on a whole different level of taste sensation! The Cabernet red wine really adds the flavor. Thank you so much for the recipe because I’ll be making it often!
I finally got round to making this today - Been wanting to for the past week. Wow, it was absolutely delicious. Great recipe. I served it with warm, freshly baked bread rolls and it was perfection. I had a second bowl, just now. Personally, I like my stew a little thicker, so I stirred in some potato starch at the end.
I have made your wonderful soup many times for myself, family and friends. Lately I’ve been learning to make pot pies, wanting to master the art of making pie crusts. After making several chicken pot pies, I wanted to make a beef pot pie so I used your soup recipe, thickened it up so it was more a gravy consistency, and put it in pot pies. So good!!
@@TatyanasEverydayFood I grew up in the 60’s and 70’s and ate lots of pot pies!! and loved them. You could get 4 for a dollar and sometimes on sale 10 cents a piece. I liked the little pies in the aluminum pie pans with plenty of gravy to soak into the pie crusts!
I absolutely love this recipe! I make this about once a month on average.... can also throw all the ingredients in the crock pot and slow cook all day!
Hi @petef7819 I was wondering if I cook the meat first before putting everything into the crockpot ? Can you please tell me how you do this recipe in the crockpot?
This is hands down the tastiest stew so far that we made at home. Absolutely DELICIOUS!!!! Thank you! As we had young children enjoying the stew, we replaced the wine with pure apple juice with some vinegar and it came out just as delicious. Anyone that has not tried it, definitely give this a go!
I made this tonight, but without any red wine 🍷 and it was amazing, I made it less watery and made some rice on the side. The hubby and kids really enjoyed it. Thank you
First time I made beef stew and it's beyond delicious!! Thank you for sharing your amazing recipe! Won't ever get bored of making this over and over again!
Pro tip, if you're going to deglaze a pan. Use red wine. At least with red beef, compliments it very well. It will also remove the acidity from the wine. You generally do not want to put raw wine into a dish. You can also sift the flour in the pot after the liquid ingredients were put in so you don't get clumps or flour.
I thought her methods were uninformed and problematic. I really do not understand the hysterically excited responses from people here...have they never cooked before?
Made this with some minor modifications tonight (no onion, no peas, a little bit more seasoning, half a can of Bianco Dinapoli crushed tomatoes instead of tomato sauce/wine, and a 3-hour simmer time), and oh my god this is so good
I've been doing this recipe every single Autumn, for the past 3 years. It will always remain my favourite and I'm going to pass it down to the next generation :D thank you so much for this amazing video and the professional, cute vibe!
This looks like the kind of recipe that is a winner! Thank you for actually taking the steps to create a meal. I'm a cook myself and will be anxious to check out all your recipes. Looks yummy!
I made this the other day in the crockpot and OH MY GOSH I am seriously about to make it again and again and just live off of this stew. So delicious, thank you so much for sharing this, you just got a new follower!!☺
Great recipe! This is a perfect dish for lockdown situation. I varied it a little by adding potatoes in large cubes, small onions and chopped carrots. I did not add any tomatoes. After braising the oxtail and vegetables separately, I added beef broth and all the other ingredients and cooked everything together in a slow cooker/crockpot for 5 to 6 hours. The taste was incredible! Ox tails are hard to get in the states. They add some much hearty flavor to this dish.
I'm cooking this right now. Yesterday I made a home made beef bone stock . I bought the bones from a local butcher and added some more beef . Its great.
I have cooked your recipe to my family, every week since i discovered it. It just tastes amazing. Made it for my wife, son and the whole family 2 days ago. Nobody Said a word while eating, they were too focused on the goodies 😂 Thank you 🙏🏼 #cookingDad
TatyanasEverydayFood - It most definitely has. My wife is working a lot, and i am mostly the one who is able to make dinner, so this is perfect and Will be much better for those winter evenings. Once again, Thank you.
Lia - Thank you for the info, i know about the flour though 😊 But i dont use it always, i use a lot of onion in the beginning so that also makes it less soupy. And i dont Add sooo much water.
Total comfort food on a cold winter night. Don’t fret adding the wine doesn’t taste like alcohol at all and adds depth. So good!I will be making this stew a lot.
Cooking this right now for dinner tonight!! The only thing is I cut up all my veggies and as I was transferring them to the pot.. I dropped them all on the floor... but IT IS OKAY! I cut more up and I shall let you know the results!! 😊
I’m cooking this right now, I need to change my review a little bit , after i cooked this yesterday my family love it I’ve tried many recipes before so far this is the the BEST !⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thanks Tatyana, I just added this to my Recipe Favs, it looks awesome. Btw, your presentation face-forward using the "Extra Burner" on your kitchen island made the video more personable and easy to follow. Two thumbs up!!
That's what I do!!! I add a little flour to the beef broth as well before I pour it into the pot and it comes out way thicker than the one in the pic! This one looks more like a "soup" than a stew. I also use way less salt.
@@karencalifano6132 Same here. Too much salt in stew will make meat tougher and take longer to tenderize and breakdown. You can always add more salt and pepper when serving it up. Some homemade Italian bread goes well with stew also.

I'm following your recipe right now and it's turning out great, my husband bought this meat and I said how am I going to cook it! I saw your amazing recipe and here I am making it. Thank you!!!😊
That is the most luscious beef stew I've ever seen. Looks scrumptious. I like how the veg were diced. Then the small potatoes and peas put in towards the end. I'll have to do this one. Thanks for sharing!!!
I’ve never made Beef Stew before and I didn’t even know where to start minus a few key ingredients. I have made this recipe over a dozen times now and is a family favorite. I like to make mine a little more hearty so I add more of (__?__) to suit my needs. I also add a little corn. But if you stay in the lines of this recipe you won’t go wrong. I can’t even imagine cooking it another way. So thank you sooooo much. Your recipe is now one of mine and I will always cherish it. If you like yours a little thicker after the starches do their job, Wondra quick mixing flour will thicken this to your preference. 5*****
I just increase her carrot, celery, onion by 50% also adding more potatoes and extra meat. 4lbs. Corn and peas. Thicken with wondra or brown flour. Once I added kidney beans but i used a qtr cup of smoked BBQ instead of
Never made stew in my life, but wanted to cook one. So, I followed your recipe only without the wine.oh dear.. IT WAS SO GOOD!!! My husband loves it and I have to make this every single weekend. I slow cooked it overnight in a slow cooker n It turns out so well . Tq so much for the recipe ❤ - Fiona. Kuala Lumpur Malaysia
She isn’t lying y’all!! I invited some friends for a boxing day lunch and made this. There was no left overs, and everyone was raving about how incredible the stew was!! This is definitely going to be added to my list of go-to recipes. Thank you for sharing this! Xx
When you use broth to replace red wine, add a small amount of vinegar and cranberry juice to keep the brighter notes that the wine would add. Depending on the amount of juice you add, you might want to skip or reduce the amount of sugar you add elsewhere in the recipe
Gonna give this recipe a go on Thursday making it for my dad and boyfriend lol wish me luck I will be sure to fill you in on how it turns out!!!!!! Thank you for being so specific about timing etc.
I don't really cook, but I tried this recipe because it really looked hearty, nourishing and tasty. I tried making this, and man, this thing came out AWESOME on the first go. I was genuinely surprised since I don't cook, so thank you for this. This is definitely my go to recipe for beef stew now.
I’ve made this twice, first time with wine and second without(replaced with more broth). Both times VERY delicious Such an easy recipe to follow, thank you!
I don't care who you are, THIS is the food one hopes to get coming home when it's freezing outside. The only I'd add is a bed of egg noodles to settle one down for the night.........
Then it would be an awesome soup. Stews dont use noodles. Weird how cooks come up with that. Nice suggestion I may try. Did it once to chicken n dumplings n omg I wont ever go back lol
Thank you Tatyana for sharing this recipe! Definitely one of my favorites since I found it about 2 years ago! I made it for dinner yesterday and my family and I enjoyed it, again! 😋
I just made it today. I'm so excited to try it out with my family. I love your hair. Thank you for sharing your delicious recipe with us. All the best. 🙏🤩
Made this tonight and my roommate loved it very much that she had to keep diggin in. Thank you so much for this. It is very easy to follow for like a beginner like me! Thanks alot
Hi Tatyana. I just made this beef stew and oh my, the flavor is out of this world. Much different from the crock pot beef stew recipe I have been using. It's a little more effort but the end result is really phenomenal. I make big batches of soups and stews and freeze them in the Amazon containers so I can have quick meals every day. I've put this one in my recipe book and will make it often. I really enjoyed watching your video. It's quick and to the point on every step and easy to follow. Great job, thank you so much! 🥰
Just made this dish today for the family and it met with their approval, even to the point they said I could cook for them again without them complaining 😅 The only thing I substituted, I used dealchohlised 🍷 but it was yummy yummy 😋
Hi Tatyana , I followed your beef stew Killer recipe yesterday. This is a guy who couldn’t scramble eggs properly a couple of months ago. Thanks to your expertise I hit a Home Run with my family critics Blessings from Central Ontario, Canada 💕🙏
@@TatyanasEverydayFood I need to stop drowning it in wine and beef stock. I noticed a few recepies that you mix flour with water and add it towards the last hour.. do you advise?
@@brandoncobb4646 she puts flour in the mushrooms when she cooks em. That replaces the need to add the slurry of flour and water towards the end of the cook time.
