I felt bad for you guys- with the hail, and not able to go see the trees! But I like how you stayed positive and looked for the best in the situation. The Reimer stores looked so quaint and fun!
My Family spent time there and at Three Rivers for years and years....several decades. Those are some of my BEST childhood memories. I spent a recent Bday there.....not too far down the road. These videos are VERY special, thank you for sharing them!!!❤
Love ❤️ Love ❤️ Love all your videos !!! But this one is so relaxing and we who cannot get out and travel any longer really appreciate you taking us with you guys!!! You all still ROCk !! Love❤️ seeing Pixar Charles !!! God bless y’all!!
Omg this brings back camping memories as a kid, we would Camp in Kings Canyon and go up to 3 Rivers to visit the brothers at the Monestary, don't know if the Monastery is still there, but soooooooo beautiful, I remember these places, I believe we ate the gateway mind you this was back in the 70's,awwwww thank you so much for my flashback.
I love going out to that back porch of the candy store and listening to the water. If you're lucky, you can sometimes spot a deer or two across the other side of the river. If there's been a lot of snow melt in the Spring and Summer, that water is flowing pretty fast, and it's just as beautiful and peaceful to watch and listen to. Glad you made it to Reimer's...they're the best!
I got excited when I saw this video. We lived in Visalia up until 2018 and drove up there all the time. Reimer's is definitely a go-to. It's a nice little day trip.
It was a great town to grow up in. I had friends that worked at the Gateway and ate there all the time. I worked at another restaurant in town that is no longer there. A lot of girls in my school worked at Reimers over the summers.
Several years ago we live up in that area ,in a town called Arnold, at 4 thousand feet, just below California Big Trees. After it snowed and we needed to go somewhere, sometimes even in our 4 wheel drive, you can slide on that icy mountain road. Once we came close to getting hit by another car that was sliding sideways down the hill as we were driving up. So you can’t be to careful. Arnold is a beautiful town, several miles below that is a small town called Murphy’s.. it has the feel that Knots Berry Farm is trying to achieve.. Also in that area is a ghost town called Columbia that has an old Wild West feel. When we lived there they would often shoot movies In both Columbia and Murphy’s, and the surrounding area. You would really enjoy visiting those towns if you have a chance. Safe travels!
Know the feeling Dawna!! We were in the park the same day as BLAB and saw all the same people on the video but didn't get to meet them! One week before closure!!
@@tishaandmegan It's such a weird feeling. I am mad at myself for not paying attention to my surroundings. I missed an opportunity that was literally 6 feet away from where I walked from the front door to the patio.
Thank you so much for the wonderful memories. We loved driving from Hanford to three rivers and dining at humming bird inn and the gateway inn. We had planned to rent a cottage at the place next door to the Gate way inn.but family health the next year prevented it. Refiners candy store was always a treat. When I taught 6th grade and one of literature series I made several trips here to encourage some thought. If you are familiar with the story The Lion A and The Wardrobe you and you have been to Reimers you you know what I bought. Refiners was the only store I knew of that sold the candy. YES,, Turkish delight!!, When we arrived at the part of the story when I believe Edmond met the Snow Queen and he all but sold his soul I would let the students try the candy. My question was If you liked the candy very much and you were encouraged to come over to the dark side for more what would you do. Homework assignment was to write in your special diary what you thought and if you wished you share it with us. Interesting thoughts were shared. If you are ever in Tree Rivers stop and sample the candy. Then as an adult ask yourself this ,What would I swilling to sell my soul for. ps sorry about my first misspelling of Reimers. Pops. The last time my sister and I were at three Rivers was wen the school hit appone a fund raising idea. They convinced several people to open their homes for a tour. I read the story on Fridays Fresno Bee called my sister in Santa Clara at the university and she drove over 250 miles that evening to make the tour why ? Because William Shatner who had a horse ranch there at the time had opened the ranch for viewing. A good time was had by all . I know I am writing too much but I also have to mention a home that was especially designed and raised off the ground so that as you entered the main hallway there was a glass section on the floor where you could see creek running below. Now that Three Rivers is flooded we were wondering about that home as well as the damage to the town.
I definitely love the German store. This is definitely a place that has stuff from my nationality. I know all about the story of the pickle on the tree. I myself followed the pickle tradition growing up.
Definitely a place I would like to visit!! You guys be safe, hope Pixar Charlie got home safe. Also, my friend lives in Germany with her husband, and she ALWAYS send me pictures during fall and winter time. I love them! The village they live in is too cute, and their Christmas decorations at the local markets and towns are too adorable.
What a nice day you all seem to have the view from the restaurant was amazing, how nice and fall looking it was, loved the colors. Mary and I are from back east and they colors for fall are so warming. The stores you went into were so cute and cozy. Glad you had a fun day and that hopefully Pixar Charlie made it home safely.
I'm sorry that the festivities didn't go as planned but it was still a fantastic video! Honestly, job well done, I always look forward to seeing the shops in town and you captured some really stunning landscape in this episode! ☺️🖤🤘
Yay! A glimpse of Patrick! Beautiful scenery. We really enjoyed this video. I have never heard of having to put on chains when you have a 4X4. Most places say Four Wheel Drive or Chains.
Our city German museum educates that the German pickle actually started here in the United States. Not that it really matters too much our family has always observed it.
Spencer and katie Ihope you dont get rain on no good get sick.well have fun. you both might to go swimming in the river maybe cold its okay.have fun anyways christine
Excellent opening shots . I loved the quit rain fall. Outstanding views. sorry Charlie had to leave to early i think he is the 3rd musketeer. Love your videos and so glad you guys take us along with you on vacation. Even though we just got home 2 weeks ago from Disney world. It so nice to see more of the country. You guys be careful and stay safe. And thank you. Bye from Oregon
Hay, Hay! :) Love your videos! Special when you show beautiful country side, farms, nature, and activities. It's like we travel with you guys. Have you done the 395 yet? you should do colab with B&B's and lodges. Lee
You absolutely need to go by Sierra Subs & Salads! They have amazing food and have the most friendliest staff. There’s a coffee shop and antique shop next to them as well!
Hahah! That looks like sleet to me especially given the weather system that was pushing through. That said... super glad we made the decision to pull the plug on our trip there because we didn't rent a 4 wheel drive (would have loved to but cost...). Curious about the crowd level around Sequoia NP though. The ranger we spoke to when we called and was planning said it should be light since it's right before they close for the winter but she also said there wouldn't be precipitation at that point. LOL.
The beautiful tree is a Chinese Pistache Tree I believe. Looks fun you two! We went just 3 weeks ago and the weather was hot and dry. Ate at Gateway too. We loved the ducks on the river there.
What a picteress town! I defiantly would like to visit there during this time of the season. I'm adding this to my bucket-list. Also I want to paint that tree from 11:21 that Spencer showed. I've been getting hooked in painting trees lately. :)
What a bummer - 4 Low doesn’t help with icy conditions unfortunately...much better to be safe than sorry! Still beautiful shots though Spencer! Besides, we need you guys back here for Buena Vista awesomeness!
Katie, I was a bit heartbroken to find out last year that no one in Germany knows about the pickles ornaments in the trees. It's not really a thing there. I read up on it and it turns out that it was marketing ploy here in the States from importers of German glass Christmas ornaments at the end of the 19th century. But I still put one in mine anyway. :)
