I picked up the red wood VSKA (pronounced "VISHKA" to sound Russian. Lol.) And am a couple hundred rounds into it. (less than 400 probably. I don't really count all the bullets I shoot. ) But have not had a failure yet. I'm quite happy with it. I love handing it to my friends and saying "this is the AK everyone says will blow up in your hands... Still wanna shoot it?" 😂😂😂 No one has turned down a chance to mag dump into a trash pile yet. 😅
I have the exact same one and I love it. Traded in the RAS47 I have in my picture for it even tho I never had any problems with it either. Just wanted to be safe rather than sorry 🤷🏾♂️
That plastic cover on the charging handle is only there to prevent it from poking through the box during shipping. Take it off. It looks dorky. Haters are gonna hate but the VSKA is a serviceable weapon. Not the best but it’s not priced like the best. It will work if you’re on a budget or just don’t want to spend that much to have an AK. It has passed 5,000 round tests. I think that with this model Century has learned and incorporated improvements based on the problems that surfaced with their earlier products. I subbed just to see what adventures you will have with this rifle, and how well it holds up.
As much experience as I have with firearms I know that form is vastly inferior to function. If a squishy soft cover helps me to get a solid grip on an operating part, I leave it in place. Maybe one day I'll replace my charging handle with a better one, but for now it stays put.
The 'double braded' is supposed to be more reliable, but I am not sure why. Such springs should cost more and is why century is not using them. The slant muzzle displaced my groups and you rifle will likely shoot better without it. It is intended to deal with full auto fire and does not happen on legal AKMs and AKs that we have in america. My chinese mak 90 does not have that side scope mounting. I put an ultimak on it for the red dot and the gun is good to go.
Love mine too. Added a rail (They said it couldnt be done!) Midwest industies makes it. You got to dremmel out two places where the Rivets make contact, very simple. YOU MUST RED LOCKTITE the mounting allen bolts. Other than that, mounted a Trijicon RMR on it. it's ran smooth as butter. Love it!!
@@JohnDoe-in9lc are forged BCG's even a thing? I'm guessing so I just never hear of a forged BCG because it's my understanding the main thing u wanna look for is making sure that the front trunion and bolt are forged.
@@SC68170. The old chinese and euro imports had forged BCG bolt and trunnion front and rear. But nowadays with the american made ones they use a lot of cast parts but yes the most important thing is the front trunnion needs to be forged or a good steel at least.
I’m not saying there’s not any bad ones that got past QC but generally yes. I’ve never shot a old one but they have a terrible reputation but I bought a VSKA and it’s been great, came with magpul furniture and a side rail so I can mount everything I wanted for $460 after tax and plus the guy gave me 3 mags and 3 boxes of ammo.amazing deal but I’ve got a guy who can get me deals at almost any pawn shop in Oklahoma so you probably couldn’t get that deal especially in 2024
Excavator teeth should not be a determining factor for the type of metal that is used. Very much like tires on a car, excavator buckets, are a high wear item specifically the teeth. They are meant to break down so that people replace them instead of utilizing a much harder steel that would last longer. This is not a secret in the construction business. The lowest that anyone should ever go would be a WASR-10. After that, I would recommend a PSA GF3/4/5 and then a Zastava M70. Always, always, always, buy an AK with forged trunnion, bolt and carrier. If anyone is interested, I can send you a video of VSKA blowing up, and apparently Century’s silence and replacing it.
I’m not one of the purists that claim that if it’s not an import it’s not an ak … BUT WTF ! The vska doesnt even feel like an AK !!!! The stampings are weird the dimples are weird the finish is weird even the dust cover and trunions look different hell look at the gas block … it looks like it was made from plumbing pipes
EVERY AK type is different in some way. It does look like an Ak. Your probably just put off by the missing cleaning rod. Nothing you listed is accurate but that’s your opinion.
I paid $ 375.00 for my Saiga's n $ 525.00 for my Vepr's not really long ago.... AR's are way more refine than AK's so I don't know why AK's are more than AR's....smh.
SOooo SORRY to hear that ... The one VSKA AK47 I have is One Heck of a AK , Zero Problem or Malfunction Shooting Factory or Reloads from 123 grn to 150 grn Bullet's Love'em . Have a Great one ... Later Gator !
@@nickallen8333this coming from your extensive experience with the vska or are you a keyboard warrior like the rest of the AK snobs lol and u do realize if it's such a concern u can replace the front trunion on them right. Bout a 3 hr job with proper tools and knowhow
@@justjoshinya8309 Do you have to have extensive experience with a rifle to understand it is made with inferior materials?? Why the hell would I buy a VSKA? Literally why? Why would you replace the trunion when you can just buy a rifle with a forged one for around the same price?
You have NOTHING to base that off except morons on Reddit. The trunnion on the VSKA is MACHINED from S7 tool steal. Not cast. And that makes it stronger than any other AK you can name. It’s easier to troll when you know what you’re talking about.
Wow sorry to hear you're having trouble with yours, you should contact Century and let them know so they can repair it! I've had mine a few years, ran thousands of rounds through it and it still runs beautifully! So how long have you had yours?
