its so sad that most of the calendar apps like notion calendar and routine only support Google Calendar. In Europe, most of the business people use self hosted or outlook
This. I use apple calendar since I used iPhone and iPad, but recently I swap to an android phone so I’m searching for cross platform app that allows to sync with my apple calendar. So far I couldn’t find any but Google and outlook.
Thank you for making a calendar app that's highly customizable without breaking. This is the 6th calendar app I'm changing to, and I think this may be just what I've been looking for all this time. Clean UI, very fast, and easy to use. The natural language command bar is probably my favorite feature. Being able to quickly perform repetitive actions with the shortcuts is also a big win for people like me that don't like using the mouse for everything.
i guess i keep searching. call me oldschool but i prefer simple things all the way. if putting something down into a calendar takes more time than just writing it down with a pen into a notebook, its already useless because the entire idea of a calendar is to make things easier and not to to make me spend more time. i dont need any of that fancy stuff, neither do i want A.I have anything to do with my calendar. heck this a.i sht can stay out of my computer alltogether.
bro then why you watching this video. i swear people are apposed to things because they dont understand them because they're too rigid minded to even look into it, keep your pen and paper bro
@@mstr1820 what do you mean by not even looking into them. i tried many things and looked into many things, and it turns out most of them straight up suck and simple life just works
I tried Google Calendar but it has far less iPhone widget features than Apples Calendar App. I really like to categorize my calendar entries so that I can scroll down the widget from a rougher view with the most important entries of the week to a more detailed view of the day. Are any of these app fulfilling this need or is it kind of an apple exclusive?
I have golf practice every weekday from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm and boxing every Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm. My 8-day Pull, Push, Legs, Rest workout split doesn’t align with a 7-day week, causing clashes with boxing. I need a solution to manage my workouts without overlapping my fixed commitments. Does anyone know which app to use?
Which one amongst these does not require you to connect to any email account to work? I just want a simple calendar that does not require I connect/link an email like outlook, Google mail etc. to work.
Hi Francesco, love your channel! @keepproductive Me & my other half are expecting our first child and want to get more coordinated with our calendars, what app would you recommend for couples, in my mind i'm thinking we both have our own calendars and we can then see both of those.
Notion would be the closest, but it really is a pipe dream in the sense that there will always be steep compromises in any “all in one” solution. Could work if you mainly care about one or two features more than the rest (ex. Tasks and Calendar > notes as an afterthought - in that case I’d look at TickTick). The general workflow and thought behind how you engage in each of these apps should be different enough that you can acknowledge the benefit of having them separate and/or focused in their own domain. There’s a lot of decent extensions for these apps which can work too (ex. Todoist + Google Calendar two way sync). I would highly recommend looking into the “Second Brain” workflow system. The key is to get the general idea and implement it yourself as there’s tons of hyper OCD productivity gurus that overcomplicate things and spend more time on perfecting a productivity system opposed to actually using it.
I use monthly calendar and in the entire video he doesn't show how the monthly calendar looks like on any of the options. It can be really confusing to use a monthly calendar so knowing how it looks like is a life saver, especially when you have ADHD like myself.
Is there any calendar where recurring events and / or tasks don't show in the calendar (which tends to make it cluttered) but do show as a notification so you can act on it?
Apple ecosystem - Native calendar app can do this fairly well by creating a separate profile and hiding it from view (you’ll still get notifications). Google Calendar - You can toggle the tasks/reminders from calendar view. Same and simple solution as apple calendar. Unfortunately there is no dedicated desktop app so you’d have to use the browser. Todoist + Google Calendar - Utilize the two way sync extension for Todoist so that all of your reoccurring Todoist tasks show up on calendar. This way you’ll get the notifications (via google calendar) and can toggle the them on and off from the view. Very similar solution to apple calendar option but IMO it’s far faster and easier to add quick or reoccurring tasks via Todoist given their very thought out UI/UX and natural language processing (ex. “Remind me to take out the trash every other Tuesday at 6pm”). I would also look at Tick Tick which has a lot of the same features as Todoist such as NPL while also having a built in calendar, pomodoro timer, Eisenhower matrix, and habit tracking. Simple option - just use a task management app separate from calendar. Given that you don’t want to see the tasks on your calendar, but want to receive notifications, you may be better off just using a separate app altogether. To me tasks and events serve a different purpose and workflow, so unless you want to sometimes see the tasks at a glance on your calendar (in that case use one of the options above) then just use a specialized app for task management.
In Morgen the UX is optimized to act through multiple calendars, in turn this can help with your use case by saving recurrent tasks/events in a separate calendar, that then you can bring up/down as easily as hitting a digit on your keyboard using the calendar sets feature.
Francesco. Bro. I love your channel. I truly do. So I say this with loving criticism. If you have a video where there is little to no android stuff can you make it clear by making it known from the get go, or putting the android stuff up front and letting us know the rest is apple. This is not a shot against Apple but a request as a fan of your work. The last thing someone wants to do is get to the end of a video and feel like they wasted their time... Than the face they see and voice they hear is yours. This will cause people to look for other options. Just a piece of advice. 😎
Google as my main, but using Notion's iOS widget and Windows app to time block with my Notion databases. I'd ditch Google and TickTick if Notion had proper recurring tasks and calendar events!
All i need is an app that i can sync my host email addresses, my google and outlook. I also wish the same app would have a to do list, tasks, reminders or notes. Id be happy to pay.
@@toolfinderhq What do you think the difference is? Is it more difficultto plan your day? I am currently trying to compare Morgen with Routine, as these two have a free tier, and are on the devices I use. I also only use google calendar so everything should work for me I would love to hear your thoughts on the differences! I know its much to ask but a "vs" of the two would be more than amazing. Also I would love for you to mention the state of the mobile apps too in your videos, since that can be a big part of the user experience. In this particular case, I reckon Routine app should be more complete than Morgen, but I am not sure.
I have a specific question: Let's say you use Google Calendar because all of your family members are using it and have shared their calendars with you so you can see whether a specific day is okay to schedule something. You would like to use something even nicer but would still like to see what your family has planned. Which of these calendars can you then use?
Fantastical, busycal, Amie and Calendars from Readdle all do I think. Maybe more of them. Of all of them fantasticals Integration is best. Instant two way sync with tags, priorities and lists
I’ve used it for years, but suddenly I can’t delete any appointments, and everything is set to repeat and I can’t change that. For example, I had three days blocked off in October of 2023 for out-of-town guests - that has been showing up every week since last October and I can’t delete it. It’s wry frustrating!
Don't just give your data, your calendar is your business. If you would not tell all your plans to the people around you then why give that away to a company that might spread that information around to make profit. Do some investigation before you provide this data to a company you do not know
This list is horrible. No Sunsama, Akiflow, Motion, and others. Sunsama alone is one of the most robust calendar apps for a corporate business users with integrations like Jira, ToDoist, Trello, Slack and Outlook.
Sunsama, Akiflow and Motion are what we determine as general planner apps, between tasks and calendar apps. This is more pure, or close to calendar apps.
I agreed. The list is missing all the best apps. Almost all the calendars apps these days are incorporating some kind of task. Apps like Akiflow are way more powerful than all the apps listed on the list in the video. In my opinion you should have at least mention it. Best.
@@toolfinderhq I appreciate the response but you've included other identical apps that have time blocking and tasks in this list. I've watched your videos for years and it's why I started using Sunsama and why I tried some of these others. You referred to them as calendar apps yourself. Yes some of a little function of a planning routine but the other 99% of the application is exactly what you showed in this video.
What a rather rubbish list it turned out to be, there is not much difference, so Google is definitely better, it has everything you need. AI and other garbage unnecessarily
