One thing for certain is that each provider has their own unique way of pissing you off, thereby making it irrelevant to which provider you go to. It’s about tolerance.
Haha yes. Yes it's true. It's like choosing what poison do you want?? You have to chose one... Which one will you tolerate until you get fed up & find yourself back searching for a new solution. Welcome to The Good Place 😵
Haven't been to Canada in 5 years, but I can see that all of the phone plans are still ridiculously overpriced. I've gotten used to getting 210gb/month for $80 in Australia
I really don’t know why in Canada Phone Plans are so expensive!. I’m living in Toronto i paid 90 for Fido for 50G unlimited call and txt in Canada. When I in Thailand I paid for only 12CAD for monthly and it’s unlimited data , call and txt. Canada really should do something to make it better.
This is what happens when our government allows a monopoly to occur, there isn't any competition in this country. Everything is owned by Bell, Roger's or Shaw
Rogers offered me 15GB for $40 and 3 months later added 10GB for 2 years for being a loyal customer, so $40 for 25GB im in Quebec, plans are a bit cheaper here
Paul I really appreciate the effort placed into this video. As a new comer to Moncton looking for a generally good plan/service provider I was really given excellent advice that makes sense. Thanks bro
I think you missed some details on Rogers.. Their 50 gig and 100 gig plans both include USA roaming as part of the plan... "Unlimited calling, texting, picture/video messaging and data within Canada and the U.S." It's also worth noting a few things. Telus owns Koodo, Bell owns Virgin, and Rogers owns Fido. They use the same tower network as their parent company. Also worth noting, Bell and Telus share a tower network across Canada, where Rogers and Freedom/Shaw have their own tower network.
im with rogers and i live downtown (5 mins from rogers stadium) and i have 2 bars. Im switching from rogers after this last year and their insane costs.
Shaw has a Canada, US, Mexico plan which I signed up for. Great price if you use Shaw internet. I am in Mexico now and it doesn’t work. Could be a one off but would be interested in hearing reviews about plans that include usage out of country.
Great Video! Trying to make jump from provider to provider web sites and digest their propaganda especially with the "limited time only crap" makes my mind ache! This video, is my reference now!
With Virgin Mobile, 20gb of Data and unlimited Canada Talk 35$ for the next 12 months but than 50$ afterwards. gonna probably try for a better plan when my deal is up. love Virgin Plus and its deals/perks app.
Very helpful video. I am so far leaning to Koodo. But i want to know which plan can still bring service range to me if i am in rural or small town. Thanks for the video.
I have been with Koodo for good over 5years and I have their 20GB because I use my Waze a lot lol so it does benefit . On that note I as well see their range is amazing. I was in rural Sudbury last month ( charter driver ) and to my amazement the range was really amazing for Waze to pick up so I also would recommend Koodo. Also their tab system is amazing!
just dumped Freedumb .. horrible customer service to resolve issues.. only speak off script. Coverage is OK if you're in a downtown core..but drops in burbs, 5G never materialized as promised. Plus side was the S20 phone didn't cost a thing when we signed up.
If I was the king and could do anything I wanted, I would force all the tell coms to sell the networks, towers, etc. and prohibit cell phone providers owning any shares in the networks, towers etc. I would then sell cell phone providers direct access to the whole network. The other thing I might do is set up public telcom board that would regulate service, fees, and license anybody that has the where with all to go into the cell phone business.
Great video! Thank you! I’m currently on Rogers. I wanted to include US texting and they put me on a new plan which increased my monthly cost by $40! Yeah I get six months of Disney plus but $40 extra for international text?!? How crazy is that? I didn’t even know it included unlimited US calling. Customer service was so bad about explaining it! But regardless I seldom call and text the US and never text internationally. I hope I’m not on a 2 year contract!! I’m trying to get out of it. Right now my monthly Bill is $165 but that does include instalments on my iPhone 13 Pro Max.
You may not want the really cheap plans, but sometimes that’s all you can afford. I’m hoping to get on a $15 plan, but it says you have to pay for each photo that gets texted and I want to make sure that doesn’t just get automatically added to my bill every time someone sends me a text with a photo. If it does, I guess I just have to go without a cell phone till I’m in a better financial situation.
Wondering if I take the Telus 5g plan….is there a big diff between the Telus 5g vid 5g+ speed? I suppose the bigger difference will be when I switch from 4g to 5g….
You can get bigger discount on Telus if you have Telus internet they'll call you each month, there getting hooked up with $65 with 30gb on 5g network + 200cridit and other discounts, will confirm the speed when I get my sim delivered.
my husband and i are going to visit canadian rockies this spring for 6 weeks. we would like to buy a sim card with prepaid for big data. which one is the best value prepaid for big data? thanks.
Get Visible+ for cell coverage. Includes roaming in Canada and Mexico. When I went to the Canadian Rockies in September, it switched seamlessly among Rogers, Bell, and TELUS depending on what was available. But in the Rockies you may encounter large areas with no cell coverage at all. In that case you could consider a satellite communicator like inReach Mini 2 or ZOLEO. If I was going it again I would buy one of those.
@@DM-mx8px thanks. my husband and i arrived in canada 2 weeks ago and after visiting several telco counters in a shopping mall we decided to go with koodo which was owned by telus. you're right, the area between jasper national park and banff national park, around saskatchewan river crossing there is no coverage. but lucky, we're only passing through. as soon as we're entering banff np we had the coverage back on again.
Someone scammed me from US. He said he wants to hire me as an assistant and he can pay me 30$ per hour to send text to his clients . Now I realized that was a scam . Rogers charge me 196$ . M new here . I was not aware about that. The main point is I talk to a rogers specialist and explained everything . He said we cant do anything . Rogers should respect its customers. Be careful guys . We only have these reviews at the end.
I was getting around 1GB of download speed when I was on 40GB but when I upgraded too 100GB with 1GB of download speed I wasn't even getting a quarter of the speed that I'm supposed to be getting right now
What about connections? I have a so called telus mobility home phone for 10.00 per month for seniors. This phone has not worked since some time before January 12. That is when I discovered that it was not working and is still not working. Yesterday I bought a cell phone. It is supposed to give me my original phone number within 5 business days. The vendor set me up with a temporary number. It does not matter how cheep it is if it does not work it costs too much. Fortunately I did not have any emergencies but the potential for a disaster is there. Telus sucks and I will never ever have any thing good to say about that xscumbag company.
Hi what would be the most affordable plan in Canada for a person that only uses talk and text but doesn't have internet, so a smart phone well draw data in the background this is for an elderly person. The only visible icon is going to be the phone and the text and the camara all others well be removed from the home page. Wi if set to off. I was thinking maybe Lucky? no data overage I think? Are they any good or is there something better? Thanks
I just signed up (2023.01.19) and bought a new Samsung cellphone. Paid cash for the phone. The freedom service costs $35.00 per month for Canada wide; unlimited texting, unlimited talking and 10 g date hi speed. Given my past experience I wonder if the service is going to be acceptable? Speed test (2023.01.19, 23:00), results; ping 147ms, upload 0 kbps and download 15.0 maps. That is shitty! Second test; ping 100ms, uplload 0 kbps and dnload 16.5 maps. That is so shitty. Connection Shaw isp. Changed to other Shaw is and results are ping 36 m s, upload 15 maps and dnload 106 mbps. Better but nothing to brag about.
bill they passed only focused upto 6 GIG data plans. Based on 2022 they wanted to improved those plan monthly rates by 25% which they did...reminder this during CoVid 19 era (2020-2021) which showed a lot decrease rates on those plans. 2021 average CAD mobile data usage 3.8GB vs 2022 5.3GB. During CoVid more people work at home with home wifi...plus some them still work at home. Now thing are trying to normalized. which make sense why mobile data usage average went up. So 2GB, 4GB and 6GB for $37.50, $41.25 and $45.00 respectively. That plans worked at 2020-2021 now it doesn't. Data buck is kind of small now. why not start with 2.5GB, 5GB, and 7.5GB for $36, $40 and $44 respectively. 12.5GB for $52, 20GB $62, and 30GB for $74 fido vrigin koodo will at least look good
It’s a joke or what!? It’s 2023 and speaking of anything under 40GB here in Australia is laughable. For that, you’ll pay around 30 bucks. Can’t believe how expensive yours is!
Over the years in order of service, first 1980s telus excellent connection and top service. Next Roger's 2000s worst service even connection all chopped up so bad you could not understand what the other person was saying, next bell connection OK but calls were dropped way to often, wind, connection OK, service OK and cheapest available, then Shaw took over, cut 5g to 3g and raised the fee from $42.00 to $55.00. Back to telus connection good service OK. Closed all cell accounts. Tried to switch to isp telus last summer, gave up after three weeks, no one at telus knows what they are doing, the result of laying off 10,000 employees and no wage increases for the last several years. Went back to Shaw isp for unlimited g s and bullshit hi-speed for $55.00 month. I have had the misfortune of using all the big three and the bottom line is they are all way over priced and getting more shitty.
Hi all, just got an offer from Virgin Plus as a Black Friday deal. They offer 20Gb for $30CAD (BYO) for the next 15 months. After 15 months of this service your plan will be switched to its original cost of $55. Pretty decent offer compare to other providers. I hope VP's reception and the coverage area will not frustrate me.
