I just picked up an 04 sedan after my truck gave out on me.. the most fun $5200 I've ever spent, I am absolutely loving the thing.. barely 100k on the odo, driven gently for 20 years.. best money I could've spent 🎉
@@RossReviewsau You can even see the design language being similar in this cars too. The GT-R still takes things from the modern Skyline just like it did in iterations prior.
@@mrs.f8611 You've got things messed up. 1) A G35 is a USDM 350GT. Not a GT350. That's a Mustang. 2) What I am talking about is the GTR and how early V35s were used as test mules as seen in Japanese pics and press releases. Not the V35 itself. Please read.
@@mrs.f8611because skylines were illegal it would have been banned it is luxury skyline infiniti is the luxury division of nissan so it will always be a skyline
I have a supercharged V35 here in Perth and I stand by it being one of the nicest cars to drive, cant ever figure out what it is, but every time I drive it I love it. Best part is most people don't ever know what it ever is.
I’ve had my g35 for 17 years and 195,000 miles. I will never sell it, even when they do eventually shoot up in value. Right now they are just like old collector’s cars, at the bottom end of the depreciation curve.
I actually ended up buying this exact car from nextride and boy I love it. Super sleek, amazing to drive. Cars really get down and this one has aged fairly well. Definitely don’t regret my purchase. Saw your video when I was buying the car!
@@vxsr33 Typically they are ranging between 10-20k. I picked this up for 29k, but overpriced tbh. But brembos and sunroof with 6 speed manual. Low kms.
I am watching while considering buying this car as well. There is a 350GT 2004 import with only 60kk here and i am so close to pulling to the trigger. The only thing holding me back is updating/if i should even touch it considering everything is stock & the expense of upkeep if it needs work/parts as it's rare. I think I'm in love though and I don't know what to do
@@ace3998 You would think it’s hard to find parts for but as it has the same engine as the 350z it’s quite easy. As Infiniti at a point took over production it is quite easy to order parts from the states. Only thing I could see you having a tiny bit of trouble with body parts but Australia has a decent amount of parts laying around and 350z parts work in terms of engine and exhaust but America has a lot on offer. Oil is your biggest expense but it’s not too bad, common for most cars tbh.
These really aged well. Here in Europe they still look fresh on the road, mainly because of the design but also because they are rare. There wasn't a lot of them back then, and they are few and far between now.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I have a G37, now a stage 2, but even from factory - best all rounder you’ll lever drive for a good price. I’m sure old mate G35 is no different.
I agree, I have a 07 nissan skyline 350gt sedan. Has the factory twin intakes with high flow filters. Stock exhaust. Had it tuned.. 280hp at the wheels. Doesn't sound much I know in this day and age. But I tell ya what the thing is a fuckn beast. As the old adage goes, sometimes less is more. Cheers bro.
@@sergioverduzco8295 I wouldn't mind the 450 GT but as far as I know they are a rare beast around my neck of the woods (New Zealand). Cheers 🍺 🍺 🍺 🍺 🍺 🇳🇿
Currently in Australia these are a jdm bargain, somehow they escaped the covid tax because young guys don't really like them Also the performance was at the top when released, check the Best Motoring races they did vs other jdms and m3 etc 👍
Got mine at 22, 5 years later now that I’m 27 and she’s still a looker. I’d baby mine in the cold seasons and keep her garaged until the warmer season so I’m in love with mine still lol
Great Review!! Cheap and JDM unfortunately don't go in the same sentence any more 😟 these cars are one of the last great, reliable, affordable, rear wheel drive and fun cars and lately and slowly they're creeping up in price and if you don't wake up and get one then it will be too late ☹
Haha, this is such a weird coincidence. A bit over 2 years ago when I was looking for a V36 Skyline, I came across your review of one that you had posted a few weeks earlier. It basically convinced me to buy the car! And became a subscriber too. Now 2 years later, my partner is looking at a V35 to buy. And you've just happened to post a review almost 2 weeks ago.. If that's not a sign to buy it I don't know what is!
I got my 03 6mt coupe fully loaded option with brembos and navigation 2 years ago. I swapped the motor to a lower jdm motor that only had 55k miles last year. Been driving her everyday ever since and she’s a trooper. I take car of mine and mines not clapped. I love these cars and this car will be my forever car. Everyone hates on them but when you have a nice one you get a lot of love. Stop clapping these cars out. Or do because they’ll just be rarer and rarer lol + we don’t need anymore clapped gs
@@RossReviewsau Sometimes I miss the V35....then I remember.....v8 noises. I do miss "Is that a Skyline?" Now I just get old fellas saying "I didnt know they still made these".
great vid. I've got a 04 G35 coupe (usa version). I noticed a couple differences between my model and yours. -My seats are all leather, yours have some suede mixed in. -My dashboard clock is a seperate, analogue clock. -I believe the upgraded brakes are standard on the 6mt. -The pop up video display that you mentioned should be avoided at all cost. The GPS in not able to be updated, so your maps will be 15 years out of date. PRICE: i didn't look up the exchange rate BUT... I paid only $7800 USD last year for a low mileage G coupe... only 80,000 miles. Inflation is driving things up... but I have been UNABLE to sell the car this year for $10k and so I will happily keep it for another year. It is a pure driver's car, the RWD gives a feel that NO HONDA can give and adequate power make this the most fun you can legally have for under $8000.
I also own an o4 G coupe 6speed and yes it blows Honda out the box with sound and performance I just slapped in an invidia gemni exhaust and it sounds totally awesome I’ll never sell ever it’s the best car I’ve ever owned I love in longisland ny and have been offered well over 8k for it but I have such an easy time with maintenance and the fun factor I’ll never sell
glad you enjoyed the video mate! love the G35s if you get what you want for it sell it.. but like some other people commented be sure you want it gone because instant regret is a real thing lol
@@RossReviewsau It's a great car, but as you said its not that fast anymore. American version is rated at 282hp (funny the difference). It struggles to keep up with all of these 2.0L Turbos out there. So if economical sporty fun WERE MY ONLY CONCERN, I would keep it for sure. I have the nicest possible car for $8k. But, getting beat by Hyundai Kona, 1.6T? So. It's time to invest $3-$4 for mods... but I will still be driving a 19 year old car. So, why not sell, spend an extra $5k and upgrade to a G37? Maybe spend a little more and get a Q50? This is my dilemma?
In the UK a clean one of these is not far from the cost of a 370Z. There’s something to be said about having a non import, far newer car (new rubbers, plastics, easily available parts etc) and with better performance over the sacrifices of a much older import. I love older jdm imports though. 😑
Hi Ross. I’ve recently became a fan of your channel. Thanks for the reviews. I’ve been a fan of the Nissan 350/370z since the days of need for speed underground. The V series skyline might be the next best thing. It’s incredible value as an import and as you mentioned it’s very similar to the Z series mechanically, especially the v36 with the 245kw 370z engine and the increased luxury that comes with the V series skyline. I believe australia never got the skyline v series as the S15 series was nearing a conclusion, and the 350z was the first performance Z since the 260z ( the 300zx twin turbo was never officially sold here) I’ve been looking at the price of Zs over the past couple of years, it’s going up as most of the Z drivers are older, collectors and not boy racers. Hopefully 1 day I can find a good Z. The issue with the V series skyline as an import is the increased insurance and the issue with the automatic transmissions…there’s difficulty in servicing them in Australia I believe. Have you reviewed the 370z? Fir around $30k, it’s quite an affordable hard core 245kw rwd non turbo sport car…that will one day be a collectible.
I don't mind these, unfortunately most of them that I see on the road are trashed out with a big ol' red or green P plate. Years ago a couple of stock imports were being sold for cheap and almost went for one.
I used to own one, now I own the 2008 370GT coupe. The dash on the 350GT looked like new! They used more environmentally friendly in the later 370GT, and they all turn to liquid in the sun.
Car was sold as an Infiniti coupe in North America. I had no idea if there was any real difference Nissan vs. Infiniti model. If you could do a badge swap, have some car
The best way to get these a faster 0-60 is to buy an x trim with awd and buy some serious grippy tires like Michelin cross climate 2s. The awd makes traction much better on a launch and with the grippy tires you stick it almost every time. Also the third gear is where it’s at around 30mph or 48km where you can throw yourself back in your seat the most
Wowza didn’t even know you did a video on this, Im sitting next to my 350gt right now 5 speed auto, she goes hard considering I’m on my ps 🤣 haven’t lost a single race to any i6/v6, I own a ba xr6 mkll as-well and sad to say it blows it away. For now ;)… Love this car, not as much as a xr6t tho ;).
I got my auto 06 350gt coupe for only 7.5K NZD, much cheaper than a 350z here in New Zealand. Mine is also premium trim with only 120k kilometers. A Z in similar shape easily gets 15k NZD here.
My car is the same as the Infiniti m35h, they are like the sedan’s of the skyline. M45, m35, then later models were q50, q70, q56. Infiniti Q56 is v8 and they have twin turbos and all sorts with the same Nissan engines. My fuga hybrid (m35h) was the fastest hybrid made in 2012, got nothing on an Fg turbo though, fuel economy is 6.7l per 100km though. My car has that 3.5 engine and the Nissan Leaf engine
Skylines were rebadged as G35s, G25s, G37s, Q40s, Q50s, and are technically Q60s too. They were all midsized or compact vehicles. Fugas and Cimas were rebadged as M45s, M35s, Q70s, and Q56s. They were all full sized vehicles.
In my opinion the v35 coupe maybe more the v36 coupe (vq37) but it's a baby r35 gtr. Every gtr has a baby, the gt gts gtst gts25t gts25. So on so on, also the r35 is the only gtr to use a v style engine, so it makes sence that the baby 35 use a v style engine and I'd say they used the vq as the vr30dett is still under testing and the vq is confirmed reliable.
I currently have the High Rev 2005 350GT and I don’t know if it’s standard or not but it will spin in every gear when planted hard which I initially found disconcerting due to my previously owned R35 which rarely lost traction. I agree that value for money is great, sounds awesome through the Magnaflow Exhaust and is so much fun to drive. I wouldn’t recommend for an inexperienced driver though.
Great video, though it's a shame that these cars aren't P-Plate legal in most states... An idea for your other channel is to go through all of the cars you've owned, from your first to your current cars... One thing to note, the Skyline was an average Japanese sedan, which was turned into a performance coupe like the GT-R, etc...
Wish I could find a manual one. Very few on the roads in the uk. Plenty of 350z’s which I’ve been looking at getting but I’d love one of these with manual.
bought a 04 G35 5 years ago, my 1st Import Car, immediately fell in Love with the Car and 1st thought was Underrated Car. Of course I have a small collection of G Coupes now including a 37S. The same can be said here in the US, you can buy a pretty nice G for a lot less than a Z and myself of course biased towards, but why would you buy any different?
hey when you got your imported g35, because im literally in the exact same spot as you were haha, buying an imported 04 g35, did it have the 180 km/h speed limit when you got it? if it did, what did you do to remove it?
They never sold them in Australia because the Infiniti brand didn't exist (until end of cycle of v36 for a very short period of time) and that they were too expensive. V36 failed as it was already an old car by then and couldn't compete with customers wanting a german badge instead.
HOLD UP! on the V35, when you break, both tail lights light up? or did i hear that wrong? on the G35 when you break, only one circle light up and the other corner circle is just the turn signal.
Yeah it's a nice little package all round Johnny mate,I don't know why we didn't get them here when they first released they're better than the 350Z,ok thanks man great review cheers.
He needs glasses if he thought this was a skyline. It's clearly and INFINITI G35. Just because you badge it with a nissan emblem doesn't make it a nissan.
@@user-up3vx2hk1qThe G35 is marketed as the "Nissan Skyline V35" in Japan, while the G35 is marketed as the "Infiniti G35" in America. So therefore it IS a skyline. Do some fucking research because a skyline doesn't have to be an r32-33-34, Hakosukas and Kenmeris exist.
@@cassi2102 you're full of it bro. pass me whatever you're smoking. Show me an rb26 under the hood of that "infiniti" "G35" cause it ain't no skyline. You're nuts man. V35 my ass, skyline my ass. Look at it. It's literally a G35 homie. Get ya eyes checked.
I've owned a 350Z, you are talking like this V35 is a better handling car. Longer wheelbase would make a difference but what else is there. A stiffer chassis?
For auto they are dirt cheap , I've been trying to find another manual to add to my car collection but they're all $6000-$8000 for manuals which isn't too cheap
