It’s an awesome club. I’ve been playing the current model since they first marketed the Heavenwood in the 1990’s. It’s a 7 wood loft on a 4 wood shaft. It can be played from so many different yardages just by choking down on it or playing it at full length. It’s a gem out of the rough and fairway bunkers and very easy to play off thin/tight lies. It’s the perfect club when you have to hit a high lengthy approach over a hazard of any type. It’s a club for every golfer.
Andy, the Heavenwood is 165 CC while the 7 wood is 145 CC. This probably means the Heavenwood has a higher dynamic loft than the 7 wood even though it is 1 degree stronger in static loft.
So Callaway started this as a 7w in the mid 90's, and it may have just been the name for the 7w. In the mid-2000s, they used this name for a model of a Big Bertha Hybrid. But for at least the last 10 years, this has been an oversized 7w, almost the size of the 3w, with a shaft which was only slightly less than the 3W in length. I have carried a HW instead of a 5W for at least the last 5 years. I carry a Rogue ST 3w, and an Epic Flash Heavenwood. I will keep that version of the Heavenwood because that was the last model which had adjustable loft. I can get the heavenwood to fly higher and stop quicker on a green than I can my 4 hybrid.
Have had a couple of Callaway 3 woods. Epic now, always found them awesome off the deck or tee. They go like darts. Nice and straight with stiff shift ❤❤
Lots of confusion here. A heavenwood is 20 degrees loft (almost as lofted as a 7w which is 21), a 43" shaft (roughly a 4w length) but also a 165cc head (closer to a 3w head size).
I play both a 7 and 9 wood, they are easier to hit and more accurate than long irons (also more expensive, woods always are) and are good out of even longish rough. I am seldom in the rough though, being on the short knocker but in the fairway camp. Especially for us over 65 folks, investing in these types of clubs can really improve the game. I would suggest getting fitted for them though.
Interesting club. So if this is a Heaven wood since you can hit it so well and different situations. And treats you so good.....Does that make the Driver our Hell wood? Since most of the time it is mean to us and treats us horrible?
I've got a Heaven wood Warbird and Heaven wood Epic Max in my bag! No 3w or 5w or hybrids. I replaced the shafts with Xstiff. I absolutely love them. My epic has a 3w length shaft. It's a barn burner.
Hi Andy, great video. The difference between a Callaway heaven wood and a 7 wood is the Heaven wood has a 4 wood shaft, so a little bit extra distance. Cheers
Enjoyed the review. Please always mention the shaft that was used, as Calloway does offer several options. If possible, consider a video comparing the shaft options of a club!
You recently did a vid with Lewis on lowering ball flight into wind. Would have been a good opportunity to try it with the Heavenwood to further test its versatility.
I'm actually using a Steelhead XR Heavenwood and 4+. The Heavenwood is a little lower lofted than a 7, like you said, and seems to be about as long as a 3 wood.
Agreed Andy. I’m looking forward to trying a Rogue ST Max Heavenwood I just purchased a month ago. The snow is still present on the ground here in Canada, so we’re about 4 to 5 weeks away but I can’t wait to try it. Haven’t even taken it out of the plastic yet LOL it looks cherry. Love the shape and size. Prior to that in January I had bought a Big Bertha B21 7 wood, new. But when I saw the Heavenwood I had to get it too, not sure what I’ll find testing both but I think Heavenwood will be longer because shaft length is 1.5” longer than B21. I’m with ya, I think they will work very well just as Paradym did for you. Have fun!
I got my new rogue st max heaven wood two days ago here in south Florida. Played twice. It is the best iteration of the club ever made. I also got the matching 3 wood and it is a beast. The BB b21 ballooned the ball. The sound and feel of the strike with the new one is unreal! Enjoy it!
Oldest club in my bag is a Callaway Steelhead Heavenwood (2017) and I don't think I'll replace it anytime soon. The long shaft adds versatility because if I want a traditional 7 wood distance, I just choke down a little.
As mentioned, Heavenwoods are 1" or more longer than 7W. Something else to note is Callaway has changed the CC of the HW over the years, some times closer to 7W in size (still larger), other times closer to a 3W in size, so some model years may suit a persons eye better then another. Its a great club for those who struggle to elevate a 3/4W from say a slower SS or just not enough dynamic loft without a shorter shaft. They are fun clubs when they fit the average golfer :D
I've recently found a cobra f9 7 wood and put it in a 5 wood shaft and it's an absolute weapon It for some reason goes like a 3 wood for me getting 220 carry atleast every time and so bloody easy Even a 3wood might go a bit further but much harder to hit
I am a Callaway pro and my understanding of the Heaven wood is it is a 7 wood with a 5 wood length shaft. May not be true now but was true when I bought my epic flash heavenwood
Great video as usual... The HW has a larger head and longer shaft than a 7W. Golf is hard enough, make it easier with this club. I add the Rouge ST Max 9W last year and it's like a cheat club!
I still have mine from the first iteration back in "94. Gamed it in High School. The Johnny Miller ad sold me. Also picked up the Divine Nine at the same time. Then all my junior golf friends shamed me for having "old man" clubs. Funny how time changes things.
You’re hammering that club, Andy. It’s kind of a 6 wood. I don’t know why nobody makes a 6 wood. They make a 4, but not a 6. That’s never made sense to me, because I personally think a 4 and 6 combination could be just the thing.
Heavenwoods are awesome loft of 7 wood shaft of 3 wood and goes as far as a 5wood. I had a couple over the years played one in high school all the time 20 years ago only prob is getting one in stiff shaft sometimes
Very funny. I had an original Callaway Heaven Wood with a steel shaft, if you can believe that. With a name like “heaven wood” how can you not think great of it?!
Just added the heaven and 9 wood to my bag this week. Done with long irons there in no reason on earth to ever work that hard again with all of callaways technology.
I am planning to do the same thing! Have just been trying to figure out my spacing on the woods as I’m unfamiliar with the Heavenwood. I currently have a 7 wood in the bag only. I hate my long irons!
@Cody Hubble Heavenwood is a 7 wood 3 wood shaft length. Depending on the time of year, you will get 10 to 30 yards further than your 7 wood. It has replaced my actual 3 wood, and I have not felt in 10 rounds the need for a 3 wood ever again in my bag.
I play the G425 7w 20.5dg. Love it. Same ball flight, brilliant club. I've also got the B21 9w. Which is high so it swaps in and out with my 5h. That Heavenwood name is pleasing 😂
@@TheAverageGolfer No - I think I'm right in saying that only Ping do their full right-handed range of clubs in left-handed too. I blame the guy who taught me to play left-handed!
