I honestly wouldn't call his role in BTS a "little box". He has always been encouraged to create his own music, and he has gone at his own pace doing so. We all know he procrastinated and was a perfectionist for years before releasing Promise on the second to last day of the year he promised to drop it. 😂

I would definitely recommend Taeyang's song: Eyes, Nose, Lips. It is sooo good and it was one of the first songs I heard by a kpop artist. Taeyang and IU really got me into listening to kpop and finding BTS, which changed my life.

8:31 yes, Taeyang is doing a lot of MJ's moves, a lot! The toes, the arm up, the shoulders and more. It's a suiting the collab since Jimin often gets compared to MJ for being unique and having such a unique high pitch voice + amazing dancer and for some of his freestyling even caught the attention of MJ's relative in 2020 and now he is in a video with a guy who's incorporating lots of MJ moves. It fits well. This was a great collab and (re-)intro to Taeyang for me, I checked out some of his earlier stuff after and realized I've seen it years ago but it didn't catch me but I think a couple of songs are quite good but it feels like he stepped up for this collab with Jimin so I think I've check out more of his new stuff when it comes. Jimin is great on these kinds of songs where it's almost rapping, kind of like in songs like Home and some other I can't think of the name of now. He rides the beat and makes it so dynamic and textured with his voice and ability to go from a warm lower register to a higher soft tone, more and less vocal fry, air and he does it so melodically and smooth. An the bridge with his angelic vocals and high notes.. wow!

Also from BigBang, the group he’s from, Fantastic Baby, Loser, If You (preferably the Live From Bangkok vid),& Bang, Bang Bang, are other songs to react to. Also another must to react to is Good Boy that feat both Taeyang & G-Dragon (leader of BigBang) who also composes most of their songs as well as for others, raps but also is great vocalist, just like Taeyang who also raps as well. Also composes & writes lyrics as well. All members have done solos and collabed with each other. Seeing BigBang live performances are on another level. Just like BTS is now. BTS members have all looked up to this group. But especially Jimin had Taeyang as one of his role models growing up. To not only end up being invited to work with him as well as even be involved in composing the song I’m sure, meant so much to Jimin. Also performing outside of BTS allows Jimin to use more of his full registry including more mid to lower range notes that some aren’t even aware of that he executes equally well as his phenomenally amazing high notes. BIGBANG is a group that debut in 2006 under YG entertainment. And yes, they are still around but aren't active like other idol groups. But they did release a single last year but stayed out of the spotlight. Currently, They are doing their own thing. T.O.P is busy with his business and winery, he will be going around the moon this year. Their leader, G-Dragon is busy in other creative fields and his business as well, while likely preparing for his comeback and mentoring younger aspiring idols. Daesung is probably the least active. He puts out vlogs but no idea what are his plans this year. Taeyang, btw is a big fan of RnB, so his dancing and singing will make music fans remember the 90s. As for BIGBANG's vibe, well, they are experimental, so their music varies.

His most iconic single/music video is "Eyes, Nose, Lips" which was a monster hit in 2014. bigbang is a foundational group for kpop that pioneered so many things that are now common, especially with respect to self-composing, producing, and genre blending (and bigbang's leader, G-Dragon, is the inventor of the lightstick). their career has a very different trajectory to bts though, in that they are more like a collective or supergroup - they're predominantly soloists who only come together every few years as bigbang, so despite being around for 17 years they only have around 70 songs. If you want to check out bigbang I'd start with these: 1. BANG BANG BANG - one of their club bangers and one of their biggest hits. Probably the song most people think of when they think of bigbang. No English subs but I'd argue that doesn't matter as much because it's a party song - if you need them you can find fan-subbed versions on youtube, though! 2. Fxxk It - one of their best mid-tempo songs. It has proper English subs. 3. Still Life - a ballad and their most recent song which came out last year. Also has proper English subs. After that, I'd check out their live performances, as that's where they really shine. I hope you really enjoy checking them out!!!

But he was not treated fairly by Taeyang's agency, The Black Label which is under YG Entertainment. He took part in writing and composing this song as well. But in some social media platforms such as Tiktok and Spotify, in Korea's Melon Music, his name was not included as a singer. I feel upset that up to these days, BTS still gets unfair treatment. When BTS started getting big is when BigBang’s hiatus for military service started which is why a alot of people that joined the KPOP scene because of BTS dont really know BigBang. Also sadly the new fans aren’t really interested in the history as much as the old fans used to be. Back in the days a second gen fan respect first gen artists enough to know about them as much as second gen but nowadays fans are very disrespectful towards the previous generations. If you even get to or take time to discover first and second gen you would realise how crazy and wholesome the scene used to be. Groups would be friends (male and female groups), they would date more freely, joke about dating, way more skinship and a male and female idol kissing for a performance wouldn’t get them cancelled 😂 (like T.O.P kissing Hyori, Hyuna kissing HyunSeung). Nowadays when performing with the opposite gender if the idols come 1foot too close the get so scared because of toxic fans. Ps. Loved your reaction. Sadly, before and after this song came out, our Jiminie continues to be hated by BB fans. Not everyone is happy with this collaboration. I am very sad and angry at the same time. Jimin respects Taeyang so much. He idolized Taeyang since he was a kid. It's so pity that these people hate this beautiful soul, Jiminie.
Taeyang has other solo work you can check out, but my fave is the song "Good Boy" with Big Bang groupmate G-Dragon. It's wild. GD is my BB bias. (and, as a bot in the comments might have told you, he is king. Eye roll for bots.) When you check out classic Big Bang, *don't* get attached to Seungri. He's no longer a member as he's serving hard time for embezzlement. That came to light during investigation into the sex trafficking going on at the club he co-owned. They couldn't quite nail him for collusion, but they got him in the financials. (Huge scandal that brought a handful of careers to their end a few years ago, and hopefully a little solace to some victims.) His supporters are nasty, so I'll stop talking about how he bought his way out of an appropriate sentencing. The other 4 members are great, though! 😅😅😅
