WHERE WAS THIS WHEN I WAS STARTING OUT!?!?!? I'd say this is pretty great advice for beginners cause it cuts out a lot of the admin when doing manga, just write and draw. I actually made a yonkoma page for a small contest among friends (and also made some test pages for a yonkoma IP a while back) and from my limited experience, I'd say it was a fun, simple low-steaks way to focus and develop my skills for making manga. It even helped me develop a new technique for doing BGs! Yonkoma's just fun man.
That's awesome to hear! Thanks for taking the time to share that! I really like the word you used "low stakes" because that's how I look at it too! It's much less of a commitment than a full one-shot or a long running series! Definitely a good layout for practicing different techniques!
Thanks for another great video! This was extremely helpful and informative. I first learned of this format from the (NSFW) work of Kumada Poohsuke. Yonkoma manga is excellent for beginners! It’s harder than it looks, but can teach so much about plot, pacing, and characterization.
great video!! i was wonder. im making a manga for Americans and Japanese people in both langue's but could i still try to get plush by Shoen jump or a manga awards? please ask this comment if you can would be really helpful
The short answer is yes! I would say your best option is to make your manga in the right to left format since that is what Japan uses English speaking readers are used to reading translated manga, so the right to left won't bother them either! For manga awards, if you are outside of Japan, there are some contests online like the Mangaplus Awards, Silent Manga Audition, Clip Studio Paint's International Manga Award, Kyoto International Creator Award, 4 Koma Manga Contest etc For Shonen Jump specifically I do not have a clear answer since I don't live in Japan and never planned on submitting there. I would assume if you can read Japanese their website should have their process written!! Hope this helps! Good luck!
Happy New Year to you as well! Thank you for taking the time to say that, I really appreciate it! Really glad my videos could help!!! Best of luck with your projects this year!
@@digitab4446 obviously and I'm not being negative, I'm being realistic/objective. You can go sugar coat things if that makes you feel better but I'm not. Respectfully.
@@digitab4446 they are getting destroyed in sales they rely on unoriginal remakes to try and clear up every single time they write something trash or write themselves into a plot hole [multiverse cop-out] They try to pander to a specific democratic hoping that it will fix there failures instead of just releasing something good and refreshing [cause that would sale automatically] America's comic industry runs on big companies like Marvel and DC and they are terrible with a long history of bad writing both in the movies and comics etc I'm not about to a ten page paragraph but this should be enough to get my point across.
@@digitab4446 P.S. thank for asking, that makes you so much smarter than the average person nowadays, we can get some clearer in terms of what we're thinking.
