Have started with the course after having deep thoughts about whether I should go for this or some other certification. However the clarity you provided in this video about the type of jobs is absolutely what I wish to work in(not particularly doing the technical work but having a position between managerial tasks and cyber security). The details included in your short video is amazing. Even a beginner will be able to understand the concepts clearly. As suggested by a user in his comment, I definitely preferred to slowdown the video to absorb what is being said. Will share the updates on the results after doing the course and finding the job. Thanks @UnixGuy
Hey.. just checking in to see how it’s been going? I’m super curious especially now that I want to transition into tech cybersecurity to be precise and I’m thinking grc cause I love how he broke everything down and the concept of how it’s work.
I am starting my very first cybersecurity job next week! I got hired as a Cyber Strategy Consultant with a big 4! I will be working in the risk management practice so this course will cover many aspects of my new work. Thank you very much for developing this and all that you do for us wanting to transition our careers into the cyber field. Because of you I was able to develop my road map and really understand what I wanted to do with my life. Keep doing what you do Unixguy!
wow congrats! you landed a fantastic opportunity and yes this course will pretty much cover every aspect of your job - i also share in the common mistakes that companies make so you will be able to advise your clients and give them solutions!
just signed up! I am looking to break into Cybersecurity after years of being a stay at home/homeschooling mom. I have a BA in English from years ago when I wanted to teach, but the idea of doing that at this point in my life did not fill me with joy lol. So I did some soul searching research and it led me to what I really wanted to do AND your videos - what a breath of fresh air you are! I don’t like putting limits on myself and what I can and cannot do at my age of 43 (or any age for that matter) and finding someone like you who infuses all of your advice with “follow the steps, keep going, maintain your focus and don’t give up” really made a world of difference for me. I took your suggestion and signed up for the ISC2 CC course. I passed it on my first try! Now onto immersing myself in your course! THANK YOU SO MUCH
good luck with your journey! career change is hard at any age and time will pass any way, may as well do something you love! Enjoy the journey, so excited to see where your journey takes you!
Because I have been watching you for a long time and you give specific accurate information is a major reason why I signed up for your course. I’m doing my first lesson with your course today let’s get the party started.
GOOD MORNING! I am taking the time to assimilate the course to know what I am learning. It is not a race for me; I did register for the course the moment it was uploaded. So far, it is a great course; anyone watching this channel should purchase it. In addition, I am studying for the ISC2 CC certification along with Microsoft SC-900. Have you registered for the course? I will tell you that the Information Security government is a very serious topic and needs deep study and reflection. From what I have received from the course, you will not make it in this field if you are not obsessed with details and observation.
Good morning! From New York City!!! Salute Cyber Security original gangster! When I watch your videos, I actually catalogue your videos in a specific playlist. And I take notes and research. Because of you I am scheduled for Microsoft sc 900 and Isc2 CC in April. So, I want to say thank you! I also will do blue team level 1 in June. I saw this video and signed up for your course right away. So, I am getting ready!
I want to seize this opportunity to say thank you to Unix Guy for the release of this GRC course. I have been following Unix guy for a while and I can tell that he knows his stuff very well. I can't even compare this course to any other class I have attended. I purchased the class the moment it was released. I enjoyed every aspect of the course from start to the end. Not too long module and it is straight to the point. My favorite part was the Capstone Project. The project provided me with the knowledge of performing a complete cyber security assessment using the NIST framework. Thank you again for this GRC course.
Just started this course today and it was well worth the wait. I paid for the GRC ANALYST masterclass through TCM and this is already much better in every way. From the delivery to the practicality it's top tier.
@@UnixGuy You've always been providing useful information to help folks with less technical background. I'm going to sign up for this class. Thank you for putting this together, buddy!
I’ve been watching lots of RU-vid videos about Cyber Security and which fields interest me and should I decide to change career ( I’m 59) which path to go down. I always love watching your honest and informative videos. I have a friend who’s in GRC and your video and course has just confirmed the direction I want to take. Let’s hope there’s companies out there willing to hire ‘an old boy’ 😅
Your age is a plus in a field like this. You have lots of life expertise and value to bring to your perspective. Lean into your age. Nobody wants a young consultant, or a skinny chef!...
Hi! New subbie here. Trying to get into Cybersecurity but saw few courses on GRC and started to get discouraged. Until now! Even though I have not followed you for long your content is so valuable that I just know this course is worth every penny! Thank you 🙏🏽
thank you for your kind words Lisa, I have no doubt you will enjoy the course! and welcome to the channel; hope you get a lot of value from the videos!
Thank you for this. I’ve been helpdesk at TXHHSC for 3 years now and I work with so many departments like EIAM, IAmOnline Support, Vulnerability analyst and this is all starting to make sense. I can already tell this course will be the reason I’m able to be promoted to one of those senior level roles and get me started on my cyber security path. I really trust your information based of your videos and how heavily you emphasize practical projects. I swear people don’t realize how much stuff in IT you can’t theorize your way around even on HD in REAL LIFE. So much from a+ and network + I don’t even remember nor use but it’s good to have stored. I feel I like GRC is a almost like “the helpdesk” for cybersecurity in a sense but still way more advanced. There’s absolutely no course that focus on GRC and the broad categories within this field. Much appreciated ❤️
Ty my persian brother. I just got a highly technical role as a security engineer at a bank and its just too much...ill take your course as a refresher and help to pivot...already have cissp and like 7 other certs and degrees...
enjoy it! this will be different that technical work and it will more of a practical application! some concepts might be easy for you but I promise you will learn 😎
OMG! I have been looking for this type of training. So specific that one can actually imagine working as an Auditor or something else. The moment I saw this video, I registered and I am on Module 5. ❤
I aim to become a Cloud Security Consultant because I feel I am comfortable handling both people and tech side of things. If as a consultant I can explain, 'WHY?' they need 'WHAT?' they need and 'HOW?' is it going to help their BUSINESS, I could be a well-rounded consultant. Preparing my CV and Resumes for jobs with projects from Nicole Enesse on Cloud Security, and roadmaps from YOU, I think learning the skills of GRC to complement my Cybersecurity knowledge will be extremely helpful! I do look up to you as my virtual mentor on the other side of the world, and I hope I can be a Security Consultant like you :)
Omg the best thing I've heard all year!! I can't wait to jump into this!! Thank you soooo much for those of us that have been looking for resources for GRC!!
Thank you sooooooo much @Unix Guy for this course. I'm quite enjoying it. You're mentioning key terms that I have never heard before. The scenario based questions are also helpful and fun.
I’ve been waiting for this to drop since you first mentioned working on it. I completed the Google cyber security professional certification a few months ago and I’m currently studying for comptia security +. Do you think getting the security + then focusing on completing your course would be the best route for me to go? I understand it may not be necessary to take security + but it will help me meet the requirements that some employers have. I appreciate all you do! You’ve been a big motivation for me to consider a career change. I’m currently a social worker looking to learn more skills and make a career change to increase my work life balance and earnings over time. I just watched the rest of your video and saw you somewhat answered these questions. Thanks!
hey mate, yes completing security+ then doing this course will be a great path. This way the concepts that you learned in security+ will make more sense when u do this course :)
Thank you so much. You have been like a mentor to me through my Cybersecurity journey. I have paid thousands of pounds for Cybersecurity only for it to be delivered as an information dump with the expectation that you will go and figure it out yourself. Currently doing the Google Cybersecurity Certificate but will definitely do this after I complete it. Thanks for the time you've put into providing us noobs understandable information and practical advise.
I have watched hundreds of RU-vidrs in cybersecurity, none will truly Empathize themselves to you in the Real World Scenarios, they just boost into teaching not having yourself connected with them. You are too REAL bro… you love for us is immensely appreciated. Love you man ❤ I am even jealous of telling my friends about you, I want to know you alone 😂😂
HI, I m working as software Tester from last 10 years and also done a small amount of security testing in one of my project but i always wanted to learn cyber security. currently i am planning to switch my career in cyber security job so, just started with your video one by one. thank you for creating easy to understand and step by step videos. :)
I'm working hard to make Security + done soon besides Home lab training. too early for GRC now, but definitely someday. Thanks from Richmond, Melbourne.
Amazing!!! I have passed my Sec+ exam this morning, my next move will be the HTB Defensive.... certification. Then This one will be my next move for sure I like the preview I will take it along with a practical one. Thank you for your huge help and guidance
Signed up for Coursera Plus 15 days ago and taking Google & Microsoft CS courses. Just signed up for GRCMastery with lifetime access because I need to understand concepts using case studies instead of regurgitating facts to pass Certificates. This will be my 3rd career change and it will be my best work.
As someone currently training for the CISSP I have found the Governance, Risk, and Compliance material to be deeply fascinating... I'm probably the only guy who perked up when you mentioned doing a full scale NIST project... You've put together a very promising course and I hope to be your student in the near future...
New subie here 😅 and trying to put foot into cybersecurity thank heavens I found you I’ll be taking this course….road to success can’t wait to come back and share my testimony
Nice one unixguy! Been looking for a wholistic course on GRC but to no avail. This is good news for us "aspiring GRC cybersecurity professionals" Thank you once again. Been following you for a awhile, your contents has always been inspiring and informative. Keep it up!
Thank you so much for your contribution to the cybersecurity sociality! Your videos inspired me to start learning and get into cybersecurity! I don't have the financial opportunity to enroll for this course now, but I have high hopes the next months my situation will change.
@@UnixGuy don’t give me wrong pen testing is really fun. And I enjoyed doing it. But I felt limited in my capacity to make a difference, and at the end of the day, my career goal is to work in leadership and management.
@@Jesse_Johnson yep same. I capped out at technical work, so it was necessary to move up and do strategy / high level work. You’ll enjoy it, i know you said u were a musician so you have good communication skills
I’m excited to get into cybersecurity but GRC may be a good fit for me with my previous management, operations experience with process improvement. I’m more than willing to get my hands dirty and learn from the bottom.
I am a software engineer but very much interested in cybersecurity and I have been following your road map to cybersecurity . I am on course 7 of the Google Cybersecurity certifications on coursera and look forward to Microsoft sc 900. I would love to take your course.
Wow, mahalo nui loa for your passion to help and provide guidance. I’m still fairly new to cybersecurity. I got the core COMPTIA certs including SEC+ and I have an internship as a SOC Analyst, I think I wanna be a technical cyber analyst, however if after this internship it is too chaotic for me then I’ll switch and go the GRC route as I have experience with auditing/inspections, process improvement, project management and business operations. Great to now know I have a plan B as I wasn’t sure what else I could do with cybersecurity. I definitely enjoy this field and I am hungry to learn more and more about protecting organization systems and data.
Hi! I'm curious if you're currently in a cybersecurity school program for your SOC internship? I'm looking at SOC internships but all of them require you to be in a cybersecurity degree program. I passed my Security+ and already have another degree in a different field so I'm trying to avoid going back to school due to tuition cost. Thanks!
@@UnixGuylol man, i will need to use that klarna credit to get this course.. man, we are struggling on lamding a first job.. hopefully with this course, we ll get higher chance of landing it.
@@UnixGuy I like that lime about "don't rush the course". Understanding the concepts and applying the practicals I believe is the most important thing instead of completion time.
Hi, Abed! I am glad I purchased and completed your course. It was really insightful, especially from the viewpoint of a consultant, which is how I currently work. The following are the queries I would want to pose: 1. Will the course materials be updated periodically? 2. I see that NIST is the main framework you use; will you be introducing another framework as a reference, such CIS control or ISO 27001/02? 3. Not crucial, but it would be fantastic if you included some GRC tools that allow automated situation mapping to the framework. Thank you once more for dedicating your time to this course!
Hey mate, glad you enjoyed the course! 1) honestly I will only update if there is a need! there hasn’t been a change that requires that you’re meant to view the video more than once so its worth doing again as a refresher or to dive deep in a topic! 2) I don’t have a plan for ISO. The idea is to equip you to be able to read and interpret any framework, including ISO. If you’re able to solve the capstone, ISO (and other frameworks) also talk about the same thing 3) In the world of GRC, the commercial tools (like RSA Archer) aren’t really accessible for students so there is no way to showcase them but in all honesty, the tools are glorified spreadsheets (with a web interface). For example, performing a risk assessment and capturing the results in a word document or a spreadsheet or in RSA Archer is the same, the trick is to be able to perform the risk assessment hope this makes sense :)
Wow...great to watch the video. Really inspiring! I am an aged teacher of social science. Now I am going to shift my career. Getting training on ethical hacking. GRC seems new window for me. Expecting a road map to reach the GRC-based career.
YAY!! New Video!!! Yes thank you for this course> You are the BEST😎🤘🤘🤘 I can't believe it the cost I AM SO SIGNING UP right now even if im still doing my google cert. I still want to get much technical knowledge because i want to become A Blue Team member or Vulnerability Management Analyst will this course help to get there, my dear sir? 😁😁😄😃
I just saw a video on TikTok on your page, and I was so impressed about the GRC. I am an analyst with an MBA in marketing and I have the passion to move into GRC because I love it now. I wanted to ask if one is done with the GRC course do you get a Certificate? And also is it required to pass all module tests and task assessment? Any tips on how to pass the test and do the task after each Module? GRC job market how is it to get a job and any Tips to help a new entry person like me? Is there a way you can let your students create a group on email Facebook or other platforms to connect and share some help. I can be of support as a moderator if you need help.
Hey Max, nice to meet you! go to grcmastery.com and read up the course description and FAQs :) yes you get a certificate but no exam, it is a certificate of completion
@@UnixGuy Nice to meeting you Sir. wow that’s amazing and awesome. I cannot wait to be your student. Thank you so. Can we connect on LinkedIn? After completion, I will need some tips and help in securing my first GRC job please. Can I use 2hrs a day for two weeks to complete this course?
@@oseimaxwell3341 You can add me on linkedin but I dont have capacity to do one on one tips :) the course is self-paced and you’ll he able to complete with no issues other than that, this youtube channel has a lot if videos that will give you all the help that you’ll need :)
I’m currently taking the google cyber security course. I’ve literally been searching for anything grc related and yeah like you said all the certifications require years of experience
Fantastic Video! Thanks for preparing this course, I`m excited to see what's in the course. I already took the foundational courses, plus most of the practical courses in coursera. So my question is, do you think taking this course help you to be all rounded in the field of cybersecurity?? And would you recommend taking this course, and some technical courses (as the path you mentioned in your videos), and then apply for both?? And in what sense do you think this course, if any, will enhance the technical course we took before?? Last one, can you give some ideas (I know you have a video addressing that, but can you tell us more), on how to put the technical practical course, and this course in our resume. I appreciate your support.
hey mate, this course will make you a more well rounded cyber professional but this is not a technical course, so if you want a technical career i recommend you continue with technical courses. I’ve showed you how to put projects on your CV in other videos
security+ takes through the ‘definitions’ of things. My course explains the concepts and how they’re applied in the real world. Security+ is mainly text and multiple choice, this one is practical with practical assessments and a capstone project. Do both if you can :)
Thank you for the course, there is for sure the need of quality education in the GRC field ! I checked the course contents and are all very interesting! 👍 I would like to subscribe but I have only a small doubt about the overall length of the educational material, as the videos are all very short. Do you think that devoting, for example, only 25 minutes to a complex topic like risk management will be enough to become knowledgeable enough to have practical skills and be productive in real life ? Anyway kudos and thanks again for the project !
hey mate the content are intentionally short because I give you what you need. I don’t ramble, so I t only contains the necessary information. No walls of text and there is practical assessment too.
I have done my Masters in Technology in Information Security but then took a 6 year break for family duties. Now I am ready to start my career again and grc looks so interesting to me.. Just wanted to know if I should start with this course or with some other certs or profile first. To start after such a long break is the most confusing and hardest part for me.
Hi. One of my subordinates recommended you to me at work, as I am still in the process of taking my Cyber701 test. After several years of research, I like the analytical side of it. I want to give your course a try.
This is a fantastic opportunity, you are the guy who does not create clickbait content to get views, but tells the truth, appreciated!) Do you plan to create a course for those not interested in consulting but tech-related cybersecurity jobs?
I made two videos, but one is meant to be a funny take on it: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8Kc-gTAblA8.html this is GRC but more focus on cosulting: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--oEd_DKeCrM.htmlsi=6gOgzcfrCkRCGHQ4 I’m due to make a proper video focused on GRC day
I recently graduated from university with a degree in law, but I am passionate about the field of cybersecurity. Due to my admiration for your RU-vid channel, I have decided to pursue Computer Security and Forensics. Currently, I am in my first year of studies . my age is forty-five. Would you recommend this course for me?"
I do have an interest in GRC as a long term play; no rush. I have absolutely no technical background skill. For fundamental purposes, would u recommend completing the google it support certificate then the google and Microsoft cybersecurity certificates?.. I tend get bored fairly easy at this stage in my life which is why I prefer hands on. But naturally as I get older, something at a slower pace.
I just finished the Google cyber security module and I’ve been planning for something technical this whole time but GRC honestly feels like something that fits my skills set more than something technical 🤔
Love the video! I’m starting a career change in cybersecurity. I know the challenges that will arise in cybersecurity but I’m very determined and excited for it. I will definitely purchase the course because I’m a beginner in cybersecurity. So my question is, what are the certifications that ties to the GRC to further stand out in my resume?
@UnixGuy I have questions 1.After going through this course, do I get a certificate? 2. Can I get a real cyber job with this training? 3. Do I need to go through other training to be called a GRC cybersecurity expert? Sorry for the many questions, I needed to be sure of this pathway.
Thank you for this amazing channel and course you have developed. I am new to this channel and cybersecurity. I am currently the last year of my bachelors degree in computer science and have not taken anything specifically on cybersecurity. Would this course be a good place for me to start from scratch, or should i get other certifications first and come back to this course? Thank you in advance for your help
God bless u sir i been waiting for u to make this video literally🙏🏾😄. Hope u realize your impact in helping others it will not go unnoticed. Edit: comment after watching this video: YOU ARE ABOUT TO TRULY CHANGE THE GAME WITH THIS ONE! I can’t to sign up and get started. My goal is to get into GRC this year and be ready with my new resume and skills learned to go to the Black is Tech event in Houston later this year😁
Man.. I wish money wasn’t so tight right now… Even with the discount code I can’t afford to take this course 😢 been trying so hard to break into cybersecurity…
Thanks for this UnixGuy. I've been following you for a little while now and completed my Google Cyber Security course last month. I was contemplating on my next move and was looking at the Blue Team Level 1 / HTB Academy you recommended to progress as the next course. However, this course may be what Im looking for. I have a Compliance background and have worked in the GRC space for a couple of years (within financial services). Now I just need to determine if I want to pursue a technical or non-technical avenue into Cyber... One of the big drivers into wanting to get into cyber is to have flexibility for remote work, would GRC type of roles allow this? Is this something you know of? 🤔🤔 Thanks again!
hey Elwyn, Remote work is organisation dependent not role dependent. Some companies allow remote work, some don’t. No difference in that area between technical and non-technical if you already have compliance background then this course will compliment and expand your skills. If you not certain, no reason why you can’t do both. The lessons that you learned whether technical or non-technical are transferrable
Very informative video, thank you! Have you ever thought about adding the PCI-DSS Framework to your course ? I know that would be a big framework to add....
The course teaches you how to interpret frameworks, so when you finish it you will be equipped to be able to read PCI-DSS and other frameworks :) the capstone is done on NIST just to show you how frameworks work
Hey UnixGuy, congratulations on your course ! I have been following you up on various platforms and watch all of your videos. I want to know that nobody knows about GRC course, it's new in the market, why would someone will give me job based on this certificate? No one is aware about what this course covers, how someone would even consider us for an interview? If we say Security + then it is well recognized and everyone knows about it. Hope you have convincing reply. You know if someone questions means he is curious to take this up.
it doesn’t go over HIPPA but it covers the topics that you will see in various frameworks! the capstone project we use the NIST framework, doing a very deep analysis Once you finish the course, you should be equipped to be able to read and interpret any framework you come across!
if i need help during the course , how does it work ? willyou be able to guide me with some personal session ? Basically if i have questions and need clarifications, how can i do that while i am taking the course ?
No this is a self-paced training course, I dont offer personal sessions Everything you need is in the course, you shouldnt need anything extra but lets say you want to learn more about a certain area, you will need to do your own research and read - which is an important part of learning
>not accessible for beginners After I finished university I was searching for all types of jobs in cybersecurity especially pentesting or something technical and for some reason the job I got was in grc. It's actually quite easy to get a job in that field at the big 4 or other consulting companies.
@UnixGuy no thanks I did it for like a year and it was quite boring. But it actually helped me to lend me dream job in a technical non consulting position.
I have gone through the videos in your channel and they are great. I am delighted to come across your channel. My concern is that I live in Nigeria in Africa. Do you think I can get a remote job in GRC from where I live after the GRC Matery course?
Hi Emeka, It is possible, however with lack of experience it is recommended that you accept whatever job you get offered so you can build your experience and gain more skills Nigeria is a huge market so I highly recommend you try and get experience locally first. The second thing would be to try to work at multi-national companies located in Nigeria (for example IBM..), this will offer more opportunities for remote work but it’s probably not gonna be the first job that you get from the get go
@@UnixGuy Thank you for your response. Of course, I don't mind whatever job offered to me at the initial stage in order to enhance my experience. But I would want to know if the Capstone Project and the Virtual Internships you mentioned in one of your videos can actually be counted as my job experience before I will be able land my first job in cybersecurity. If yes, can they be counted as say six months, one year, two years etc. experience in the job? I am asking this to have an insight on how to tailor my CV for job hunting that requires some months or years of experience.
@@emekaonyia4717 Those are considered projects, they all help. it’s not black or white in terms of ‘it counts as xx experience’, it doesn’t work that way, but doing practical projects is hiw we gain skills to maximise our chances of landing a job
