I grew up and currently live in HMB. The entire place is overcrowded now. Takes an hour to get to Strawflower

I grew up surfing So Cal & the crowds have been heavy in big wave spots since the 80’s. Most are too afraid to commit & us locals know where the right takeoff spot is, use lineup markers & position correctly & the crowd then becomes gates of a slalom course😂 However what’s worse today is the agro mentality & the fact that *EVERYBODY* thinks they are a surf star. Funny story - my buddy, who is a local, was told to get out of the water & got threatened by some cute young chick who had a couple of muscle head dudes backing her up. He said “I’m an assistant district attorney (it’s true), you just committed assault & if you two want to join in, there will be room in the cop car for you both too as I will be pressing charges.” They paddled away & she caught a wave & disappeared 😂😂😂

And to think Maverick's opened awareness to Cortes Banks,,",gotta go, gotta catch!"

Probably wont see those conditions for another decade or so....

Interesting, sort of like what's happening at The Right or Cyclops in Western Australia when those waves are at their biggest?! Lucas Chumbo is going to backdoor a left next winter though. You watch. He's a psychopath.

True! This was from the old Surfing Magazine RU-vid page, which is being threatened to be taken down because of music rights claims against it. So, we're in the process of taking all those videos and putting them on Surfer's platform. We'd hate for this amazing footage from Josh Pomer disappear forever.

Seventysounds, to each his own brother. I grew up in the 80's. Started with punk, got into the Dead and followed them on the rod for about a year or two grew out of it and went back to punk. But along the way opened my appreciation for many other bands of that era/genre. Maybe a song from the 70's for this vid like Hendrix or Sabbath? Let's meet in the middle. How bout some Iggy and the Stooges?

michael kirylo, I'm older than you, so my oldest taste. I was a teenager aspiring to surfer in the early 70's and at the same time enjoyed the rock of the time. In early 1973 I stopped surfing but love for the sport remains to this day. Around 1975 or 76, disco music and punk rock began to dominate the market and I came with a head full of more elaborate sounds, which included jazz rock and progressive rock from bands like Gentle Giant and Premiata Forneria Marconi. I was a music student and evidently the simplicity of punk bothered me ... I felt it like a regression, you know? So since that time, purer things like basic rock and roll itself don't thrill me and don't throw me on the wall. Hendrix I love and will always love, Black Sabbath is part of a heavy metal chain that I never could have liked, the most I could hear of was the deepest Deep Purple and the first records of the Grand Funk Railroad... I believe that I have a problem with guitars too distorted lol. Iggy Pop and the Stooges in my vision would be on the punk rock list ... or pre punk rock, so maybe the middle would be Hendrix. I believe everyone will be satisfied with it :D
