Welcome back to Mainely OutDoors! This time around I found myself in Grand Lake Steam often called GLS fishing for Landlocked salmon and Maine brook trout! After spending the night in my truck cap camper I woke up early and managed to land the biggest Landlocked salmon I’ve ever caught out of a river! Stick around to see how the day went!
Also, I’m thinking of starting to tie flies to help support my hobby if there are any patterns you want me to tie you can contact me on Instagram (mainelyoutdoors18) or by email (mainelyoutdoors18@gmail.com) I’ve also got some new merch up in the store be sure to check it out! (teespring.com/baxter-brook-tr...)

Thanks for watching!
Tight lines

You mentioned that you were into the crappie prior to visiting Grand Lake Stream. What body of water were you catching the crappie? I live in Missouri but grew up in Maine and I plan on knocking off a bucket list item this spring. I'm going to kayak fish 100 ponds/lakes in 100 days in Maine. I catch lots of crappie here in Missouri and I would like to catch a few in Maine! Awesome video BTW!!

@@MainelyOutDoors I don't know man, you're a good fisherman so it might be real interesting and possibly educational to see you figure out how to catch something your not familiar with. Hearing and seeing you talk through your mistake could possibly help those of us that are not that good out.

I'm just curious, I've only recently gotten into landlocked salmon fishing and I live within driving distance of Lake Champlain where recently they've begun a salmon restoration program. I went once in late fall about three weeks ago and saw a few but I'm really excited to try them again in the spring. I'm just wondering, what's the"rule" for fishing them with dry flies? Is it when air is warmer than water, or something like that? Or basically, when you see them begin rising? I know that where I'm from on Long Island, for example, even though we catch striped bass beginning in late April, it's next to impossible to catch them on the surface until at least late June with any consistency. I apologize for bothering you with this, there's scant information regarding these fish out there as it is, and even fewer people doing it here in NY because the fishery's only starting to get off the ground.
