This guy knows nothing about the dog toys. He even picks up a treat puzzle (which is a great toy) and refers to it as a ball having no clue what it is used for. He has the misconception that treating is the same as over feeding.
Chewing is quite important, especially for puppies!!! Chewing toys are a must! If you don't buy chewing toys for a dog who likes to chew, you are going to have quite a lot of destroyed things like pillows and shoes. Chewing toys are necessary for a puppy's gums and teeth.
In short, don't buy crap your dog will pull apart. And spend some time playing with the toy and your dog so they enjoy it more. There, saved you 3mins.
People, please don't watch this video it will get you in a narrow minded state. Go watch video's or read articles of people who actually know what they are talking about and give you sound, detailed and specific information.
Is this a joke? Why would you not want to feed your dog treats, everyone needs treats every once in a while. Also, playing with a skillet, I don't seriously think this possible.... Treats are one of the Best training aids there are. Why would you deprive your dog of that?
your speaking the truth and people are mad because they got a dog when they shouldn't have. dogs don't need treats, chew toys to relive stress and frustration. Mental stimulation is the best thing a dog can get for all of the "problems" people claim dogs have. I went with my gut on training my dog and its turned out so well. I do give him small bits of freeze dried beef liver as a treat every now and then, usually when teaching my dog a new command. But I immediatley condition treats out and it has proved to make him much more focused, and overall happier/content than most dogs I've been around.
I mean TREATS mean TREATS. You get a treat every once in a while like ice cream, candy bar, cake, pie etc. Don't be a jack ass dogs only live for so long treat them with love and spoil them.
i really recommend to get some NERF toys there are some football and soccer balls made from plastic and contains a small sack, any way i have to rottweilers these toys help me alot because they are really durable
Ridiculous. Stopped watching after 40 seconds. Your dog lives for (hopefully) 9 to 17 years. Why on earth would you deprive them of treats? Boggles my mind when people think treat training is bad. ALL dogs are motivated by food because they have to eat. It's the easiest primary reinforcer; if treat training is done correctly, a verbal marker (or clicker) prior to delivering the treats means your dog does not need to be bribed or see a treat to perform the behavior. Behavior comes before the treat so the dog isn't dependent on treats to perform. Furthermore, IT WORKS. Using treats along with life rewards such as access to going outside, the car, meeting other dogs, going to smell a tree, etc. (Premack principle) is ideal. Pairing treats with praise so you can put the treats on a variable reinforcement schedule and then fading them out (though I firmly believe that using treats randomly will keep behavior strong, just like a slot machine keeps people playing even when there's a slim chance they will win) is an excellent way to keep behaviors reliable. Dogs are motivated by whatever they find reinforcing - a ball toss, tug game, chase, flirt pole, toy...you name it. Reinforcement is defined by your dog. Use whatever your dog is motivated by to train him/her, and treats are the most universal.
ThePongoAndTonkaShow he is right! I have a well mannered dog who have never had unhealthy treats for training. They get trained for my firm command. Luckily. I give them edible fruits for snacks as a treat but not treats with so much preservatives! If you love your dog u shouldnt always abide with universal. Do u own healthy research and like he said good relationship with your dog, and your dog will just be as obedient as u want him to be, and healthy as well.
Humans eat treats all the time, that's why the nation is full of fat bastards.. eating 90% of shit !! Then this prick says don't give you dog treats.. dogs eat about 2% or less of treats which is nothing and they love it !! I wonder how long this prick would last without any treats ??
kingdom777866 when it comes to how much treats owners give their dogs think it depends on the owners. Some gives too much some don't. But also think your 2% is about right generally a single treat is tiny and even though Americans eats 90% shit hope they don't do the same for their dogs.
Ok , first of all you are acting like we feed are dogs a whole box of treats each day ,but we don't. Second of all , you need treats for dogs and puppys that don't like toys to train them.last but not least a dog is not going to go after a snake ,bungee toys are actually really popular. If you are looking for some really healthy treats go for Zukes or Blue buffalo. Some of the worst treats are Milkbone or canine carry outs.dog toys are livesavers and are amazing.remember a couple treats aren'et going to hurt. nice vidio other wise.
Lol Aaaand how do you suppose I train my GSD mix who has absolutely no toy drive at all? Just leave her untrained or should I find out what motivates her? She will work for chicken, beef liver, and hot dogs, not toys. A dog with a toy drive is great! But if you don't have that you need something else to motivate them. She is far from fat and has beena lean 55lbs her entire life. Calories of treats are calculated into her diet. My puppy is both toy and food motivated, but I cant always reward him with a game of tug! I use his daily kibble as treats!
Most dogs do not need food for reinforcements. I have found that food can do more harm than good when consistently used as positive reinforcement, as the dog will see you as a source of food not the human who they need to respect. Usually a dog that is bonded to you will work for verbal praise, head and ear scratches, and tummy rubs, its just something you have to work on.
Mabela You dont get it, hes talking about treats you buy at the pet store. Theyre loaded with fat and preservatives. Btw hot dogs are low on the nutrition scale....chicken and liver make fine treats.
Well theres a difference between need and want. Do you want to give your dog the bear minimum to survive or absolutely spoil him like I do with my dog or somewhere in between?
this dude is right no clue why people are so butthurt. if you train your dogs using treats, it teaches them that you are their human treat dispenser. food over excites the dog and good luck getting them to listen if youve conditioned them only using treats
This man is wrong Best toys ( in my opinion) are: 1) those pig toys that honk 2) tennis balls 3) kong toys (they are really hard to break and my dog plays with his for hours) 4) empty plastic bottles with TIGHT cap on 5) rabbit/ duck squeaky stuffed animals 6) treat puzzles 7) flavoured hard rubbery bones (real ones are a choking hazard especially for small dogs) my dog has a vanilla flavoured rubber bone and a bacon one 8) dangly toys (basically cat like toys) 9) dental sticks (amazing for puppies who are teething) 10) my personal favriote, A BOOK! My dog loves ripping out the pages and all of that and he plays with it for hours and hours
I agree with everyone's comments. This guy is out of touch with how most people use treats with their dogs and how dogs are motivated by food to learn obedience. Treats are not meals, a toy isn't a substitute for a treat, and this guy has a weird dog philosophy. I feel bad for his dogs only eating kibble and water their whole lives!
Ridiculous! Clearly knows nothing about dog behavior. Chewing is REALLY important for many dogs. And treats are valuable training and enrichment tools. And the toy recommendations are clearly uneducated.
This dude said treats make dogs fat because food colouring, flavouring And etc. That's not true if you treat dogs natural food say like fruits and real meat then you shouldn't have any problems but don't give them too much.
Your acting like we buy the whole treat isle and feed it all to our dogs in one day my dogs I have 2 and might get another get 2 good meals everyday and maybe one or two treats everyday depends on how they are acting and a dog probably isn’t going after a snake but bungee toys are popular and if you don’t get really tuff toys for a dog who loves to chew your going to have a lot of chewed shoes pillows blankets etc. the list goes on you don’t really know what you are talking about
Different dogs have different drives some love food some don't go crazy over it but will go after a toy or they might just want to please you dogs are very loyal animals. Remember every dog is different you never know how there going to act
I give my dog treats to make her happy and show her that she is a good girl. Treats are actually great for dogs. Plus, what is he talking about getting a toy that looks like a snake so it go’s after a real one. Most dogs would not understand that.
I agree with him. Avoid cheap dog food! Most of those rawhide toys are made in China with weird chemicals. I think that's why my dog got cancer, although outdoor bug and chemical sprays or indoor smoke or chemicals are also dangerous for pets. Go organic! Carefully examine ingredient lists and country of origin. And he doesn't say no toys, just carefully chosen toys with a lot of human interaction. You are the best toy your dog can have. ;) P.S. Imagine the chemicals you dog ingests chewing on plastic or Chinese rawhide toys...
Those toys my dog never plays with but i agree with the relationship with your dog and get ting attention r key i pottied trained my dog with treats which helped
My dog has more treats than any other dog in the world. All made in the USA all natural meat. Cookies and everything. All high quality and good tasting stuff. I have an entire cabinet full of food and treats in the kitchen and more in my room. I love my dog.
Some dogs have no interest in play at all. And you can get healthy, all natural treats that are low in calories, that's what my dog gets. Very stupid video
Wow lots of haters in the comment section. For what it's worth our Labradoodle doesn't get dog treats, almost never. Her rewards are fruits and veggies from us. Small bits we carry with us on trips and sometimes on walks. Ruby responds to our commands and loves to do trucks and recall without treats. Yes we went to class with her and she loves "touch" or "pound it" (where she touches her nose to our fist.) All without treats. You don't need treats (our class was a treat based one and I disagreed as she would only do what we wanted if we had a treat, however she grew out of that and now does everything without treats.) Maybe some of you need to learn how to train your dog properly and maybe be a bit of a hard ass once in a while not giving them treats is a good thing they are filled with bad ingredients. Ruby loves half a strawberry or a piece of green pepper or lettuce.. I think my doodle eats everything haha
I think thats what the dude in the video means, dog treats are a waste of money. I blow through a bag of Zukes or Blue Buffalo so quickly, and theyre expensive and BB is loaded with salt and fat etc. But people are sheep, and dumb, so they all think hes wrong. My dog loves apples, peanut butter, and lunchmeats from the deli!
Well if dogs shouldn't eat treats we shouldn't eat junk food!! Dogs can have a snack now and then. And also.. How would we train our dogs? Use dog kibble? I don't like the idea of NOT giving your dogs treats. I am sorry I just don't.
me neither I don't like his idea and I agree with you that we can give snacks to our dog but we can train our dog with toys!:) My dog is very toy motivated so we use toys to teach her things:) but some dogs ate toys so you have to go with treats:) Just wanted to tell you some dogs are trained with toys:) Be sure to get your dog good healthy treats tho!!:)
First he said only food no treats, because I obviously feed my pup 6 bags of treats a day, then he said only toys, because apparently chewing on a toy makes a huge difference when chewing on a bully stick, then he said play with a skillet not a toy.... I mean whaaaaa?
how am I supposed to train my dog without treats and dogs only live for so long so you should treat a dog with kindness and treats really that's just stupid guys don't watch this I mean don't give your dog a whole bunch of them but you can give a dog treats that's just bull crap
