Check out the Store: growling-sidewinder.creator-spring.com/ < Code "SUMMERVIBES20" for 20% off everything in the store until July 11th Back with a little Tomcat dogfighting, felt so long since I'd been in the Tomcat so felt great to get back in there and do some dogfighting, thank you guys for watching, all the best.
Love your vids, especially F-14s. It brings me back to the days I was maintaining the AWG-9 and weapons control systems back in the day. I believe, if this type of simulation was available back then, myself, and my technicians, would have had better communication between the RIO/NFOs when debriefing systems failures, and anomalies. I go back to the F-4 N-J-S (AWG-10 & AERO-1C) days as well. Phantoms Phorever!!
In my day it was the F-4. High speed overflight at 200' in weapons hot show down with Soviets at 100' yards with guns and missiles drawn in Indian Ocean 1975. Saw if face to face, after I discovered the Soviet sub infiltrating the defense group (USS Midway) on sonar and tracked firing solution on the Soviet sub.
I have never played DCS. I used to be a heavy gamer, so much so that when I used to get in trouble in real life, I started looking for the escape key to re load my life 😂😂😂
@@Wolfe351 wouldnt it be better to bind it to a button in the joy? i still dont use track IR and mvoe the camera manually with a hat.. but i allways had a button to reset the view in all my hotas
That's pretty interesting about the Flanker engines cutting out when inverted like that, wonder if its just the engines flooding or if they're getting oxygen starved too due to airflow.
they were too focused on making a high aoa one circle beast of a 4th gen fighter and forgot that with the intakes mounted under the jet they get no air when the plane is inverted because of the leading edge wing extension at the front of the plane blocks the air from getting in the engine. this is why the f15 has side mounted air intakes that can move depending on the aoa so air will always be flowing into the intake.
Just got the F-14 and watching your videos have really helped me learn how to dogfight and keep a advantage over what ever you are fighting. Thanks for the awesome content Growling Sidewinder!
After all the recent vids of F-15E and A-10 ground attacks, I would love to see you do the same with the Su-25. I dont think I've ever seen you do ground attack with the Frog Foot. As always, your content is top notch! Appreciate all your hard work!
@@SkilletsUSMCThe f-14 has a massive lifting body that contributes a staggering amount of lift. The flanker has a lifting body too iirc but it's not to the same extent. Nowhere close, in fact.
Thank tou GS for providing quality content to us fans. The way you explain the dogfights as you are doing it, calmly analysing and reacting to every situations blows my mind. You truly are a master in your craft.
Would love to see an F-14 vs F15E Strike Eagle dogfight. Both are very heavy aircraft. On paper the F-14 is of course the better dogfighter, but it will still be interesting to see how a full on head to head dogfight between these two titans pans out.
@@KungFuWizardOfJesus Very costly to maintain and complex. Grumman had an upgrade proposal called the "Super Tomcat 21" , but ultimately the Navy chose a multi role fighter, The FA-18 and decided not to further develop the Tomcat. Navy brass and Dick Cheney had a boner for Grumman at the time. Glad I got to see that beast leave the deck of Connie on West Pac.
The GE engines in the B and D model Tomcats were outstanding. But your overall point is valid. A fully modernized Tomcat would still be a serious force to be reckoned with.
@stanger427 Grumman had a fully fleshed out plan for all the future upgrades to the F14....they did not count on Dirty Dick Cheney holding a grudge from years before when they refused to change something he wanted. Its been discussed extensively all over the place....lol
Good morning Folks ! It's Canada Day long weekend here North of the border. Having coffee while enjoying GS channel ! Time to time I will watch other channels other then GS and Longshot's in terms Digital Combat Simulation dogfighting . There is NO QUESTION that on a pure skill set level , GS has to be Top Three in the world today. Brother this is beyond entertainment now. You turned this into a science.
@@mikes989 Tomcat still looks better. Problem with Sukhoi fighters is landing gear. They look like a bodybuilder that skips leg day with the gear down.
@@W1ckedRcL maybe the mig 29 but the Rafale is pretty sick. The f14 is like a muscle car ahead of its time like a nice corvette from 60s and the Rafale is like a modern sports car
i love the dogfighting with jets however i wish we could see more prop plane dogfights that is what i think alot of pepole look for cause not many do many vids of that anymore. anyway love the stuff keep it up
honestly, they could just reskin an F15E or EX and it would be a very close approximation. Or give the F35 a Tomcat skin and two engines. The Super Tomcat 21 was basically the sales pitch to the Navy for a Tomcat that could give it a naval Strike Eagle.
"Anything is better than what you're doing that's about to get you killed." 😂 Think we found our next shirt design, with a picture of a flanker getting shot while doing a cobra.
A surprise cobra maneuver taken out by a guy named Sidewinder....fitting end to a good vid on a great channel. Keep doing what you do. It is helping others learn and growing your channel all while creating good vibes.
Did you see the new flat nozzle design for SU-57 making it more maneuverable and of course😂 stealthy, it almost looks like the F-22's nozzles which was one of the main design feaultures of the F-22
In that situation, flying defensive, pulling a cobra is just asking to get shot in the back because you are presenting the broadest aspect to your attacker's crosshairs.
This was a new one for me too. For an aircraft that can pull a cobra and effectively disrupt the flow of intake air in a similar fashion, I'm surprised that this would cause compressor stall.
just been watching a channel of a real USAF F16 pilot in an actual dogfight (training) while he's talking to camera and honestly, this channel is more interesting. and im ex RAF too
The lost art of the dogfight. People say it is a dead art. But they tend to only say that fight finds them. Practice the art as if your life depends on it... Because it and many others just may!
The STRIKE Eagle suffers a lot from being to heavy.... All the structural enhancements to make it a BOMB TRUCK to carry MASSIVE LOADS doesnt make it more agile
Man I love your videos. It's so nice to have military-escue content free of political BS. It's also entertaining and educational. Just refreshing and relaxing. Love you and wish your channel only the best! From Russia with love
It can sustain some negative G but there is a slippery threshold where it does not come out of the manoeuvre and just becomes a dead turtle unless you roll it
If you are in a Chinese J10 against an F-35 you are dogmeat in a turning fight *unless* you take it to a vertical looping fight. The '35 will struggle then and it allows you time to plan your next counter move rather than constantly worrying about it turning inside your circle. *off topic I know but your commentary reminded me to post this*
okay forgive me but every time you fly against toxic I think of the Brittny spears song. "And we love what you do Don't you know that you're toxic?" Though I am guessing that's NOT where he gets his name.
Love the videos. Can I ask how you know all this stuff? I’d love to read up on some of the theory behind the tactics you’re using. Anyways, keep up the good work 👍
Hi Growling, great video! I like how you can use thrust differential to maneuver but it must be a fine art to decide between the maneuvering and engaging both engines to regain energy? How do you decide?
