This is just a pre-production device - lets see what the customer will get (OR if they will get anything...) !!! AND for AI it needs a constant connection
@@Khoelhutchinson Not even simple (Google-) translation is offline (of course, because they want to steal your data (and the user NOT even realises that AND uses their services)... ...DONT USE AI AT ALL - ITS A FRAUD !!!
Kickstarter??? No way, Jose! We'll consider it if it ever makes onto Amazon. NEVER would I back another project on Kickstarter. How many times have I donated to campaigns only to never hear again from the founders. Lots of money lost.
honestly, i backed several projects, remarkable among them, and almost always regret backing them. Remarkable is the most successful one with no regret. Maybe they were a black swan.
it's frustrating to see the combination of extremely smart and extremely dumb AI features. AI handwriting-to-text? Great, ideal, exactly the kind of narrowly focused task that neural networks are good at. Generate article? OK, so my ereader can hallucinate based on whatever the manufacturer scraped from reddit. what's the point lol
does not seem to add much more than the Boox GO 10.3 tablet. Can pretty much get same AI options on that. Their software seems a little more integrated in terms of workflows but nothing outstanding otherwise. Why even take the risk with Kickstarter when several others have similar features.
No mention of the BEST E-INK writing tablet the SuperNote A5X? I've bought everything from Kindle's to Onyx Boox Note Air and I'll tell you hands down the SuperNote is where it's at
Does that have the best writing feel? I tried an onyx device before because I want access to play store, but the screen was glassy and slick which I didn't like at all. I just want nice writing feel, and play store access.
How are the written notes saved? Does it automatically backup like Remarkable??? I want to see my notes on my phone. Automatic backup is important, but it doesn't exist.
Ther are a few things about this that make me wary: 1) What's the price? If it's another $600 e-ink tablet, that's not different enough to tempt me, even if I had the disposable income for it. 2) No illumination is a big problem. Companies shouldn't be releasing products that cost as much as this is probably going to cost (see #1) in 2024 without some kind of illumination. Amazon and B&N had this figured out many years ago.
So this is not something you can buy and can't be reviewed by anyone else... I mean, that is a problem... for all you know, this was only model in the world you looked at. But I agree that it is beyond impressive what they did and how they made it.
A concern I have with the AI features is I use my eink for work note taking. Do they have more detail anywhere on how AI is processed (and indeed where that happens)? I'm thinking GDPR-type info
Apologies if you started this and I just missed it somehow, but does this device come with a BUILT-IN eReader or do I have to download/install one? If it comes with a built in app, what formats does it support?
I'm wondering how you have time to make a review videos, but don't have time to respond to your customers at none of the mentioned ways of "contact us".
Hey there. The sales Division and the media division of goode reader are separate departments operated in two different countries They are unrelated. You will have to email us directly at store@goodereader.com
I'm not so sure about having a bottom chin instead of a side chin. Without a natural place to grip the device while reading, it might be a bit unergonomic.
I never understood how some Chinese companies that clearly can produce competent products have weird company names, is it that hard to hire a Western agency to create branding and creative?
We have explicitly told them that. Hahaha. A lot of these Chinese companies market to mainland China only ... Without the foresight to see how their name would be when they go International Then when they finally DO release internationally... They are left with names, slogans, and box labels that just simply make zero sense
Honestly this almost including the case looks like a copy of the boox go 10.3. I would bet oj the boox go 10.3. Im not gonna trust a new company with that basically copies other companies product put their own brand on it and mabe add a button or so.
@MonarNL you're 100% correct, but don't forget that basically everyone in the industry from onyx, bigme, meebook, etc All copied remarkable So it's like you're saying forget family guy because Simpsons came first... But they all copied The Flintstones Onyx wasn't the first company, by an absolute landslide, to copy the remarkable. Remarkable came WAYY before
18:11 NO other device uses PDF as a "Template" file as far as I know, Most that I have researched at all use a PNG image to gain FULL template functionality. Please clarify this area, Lack of Proper custom template functionality is an ABSOLUTE DEAL BREAKER on any new device I purchase!!
Looks identical to boox go 10.3, hardware wise. i just returned mine, i couldn't tolerate the GREY screen. My kindle paperwhite from many, many years ago has white being white. Because this thing has no front light, and the tech sucks, what should be white is a fairly dark shade of grey. I found it ok for writing purposes, but not for reading, especially reading pdfs full of legal stuff. i'm used to reading black ink on white paper, and black ink of grey i found tiring and very unpleasant. So i bought a huawei 11.5 papermatte edition tablet. Ended up being cheaper, faster, more versatile, and so on. Far from perfect (heavy, pens slides on screen too fast, reading experience isn't on par w e-ink) but it's the best option i found for my needs. People: note how dark the screen of these devices is. In anything but perfect light conditions, it gets real dark, real unpleasant, real fast.
Yeah, cos the 800 I lost last time I put cash down for a tech kickstarter went so well... And that was also a multi tech-mag reviewed device that were still shilling their scam till the last minute before they disappeared.
That looks like a great device. I can't help but think of the two devices (6in and 13in), that y'all did back in the day. If I remember correctly, ya'll had, what was at that moment, really good specs and technology.... But, didn't know that we were on the cusp of an explosion of e-ink tablets and superior technology.
Yes it does. You have to write that it is a paid review if it is a paid review. And we did not write that it is a paid review As we have said over the past 16 years, we don't do paid reviews You make our money through AdSense revenue
@@goodereader Ive just never seen this brand before, It made me think they were putting out 10 review samples to reviewers. getting backers and killing the project after the campaign closes like the Kickstarter A/C campaigns.
too small! E-paper needs 13" or more for serious use. Nobody needs "AI" and other bullshit! Sharp resolution, high contrast, free use of all PDFs and a good surface for writing -- that needs a *good* tablet. No frippery.
@@goodereader It is a joke right? With these specs and considering it is an unproven device with a sticker price for a flagship device attached to a low spec hardware , I can only take this as a joke. This is purely a marketing stunt; maybe in the e-reader community people are not well versed yet to these things, but people in tech went through the hype phase of products on kickstarter 10 years ago, so they got desensitized about flashy videos made of outlandish statements about how a device can do things better than anything else... And also AI is so bloated as term that people actively started to hate it with a passion. If this is a joke, it is a great joke; but if you are pushing this product for real, I am seriously concerned about your ability to objectively evaluate a product. This tablet should be mentioned, but with caution and very high skepticism until it prove itself.
This is not a joke. I don't see the need for the massive amount of "HA" 's This company has been around since 2008 The device is well built, stable, and they are crowdfunding, just like many other companies in the past like remarkable, dasung, and eazeye So you're over exaggerated laughs are not justified because this is not an odd situation. This is very much just another high quality e note that has entered our meta Nothing about this is a joke, no.
@@goodereader Many companies have been on the market for a while, and have kickstarters that ended up nowhere, so I would avoid that as example or "proof" of a safe bet. Inherently any campaign that is crowdfunded is a gamble, and people are tired of gambling. As far as the device being well built and stable, that is something only you can tell; and if it is a prototype (why are they crowdfunding if they have already a DVT? ) I find it hard to believe... I shipped hardware for close to 10 years; of the type you buy in stores, not made by small companies, and reviewing a prototype and saying that it is good means that either that is not a prototype or it means that there is something quite wrong there, because that prototype should be 30% functional in terms of software at best, and barely functional in terms of hardware drivers optimization. But beside all, assuming everything is perfect and that we are all idiots for not understanding the greatness of this device; it is a regular LCD based screen device, with a crippled OS sold for an insane amount of money... If someone is so crazy to buy fried air in a can like that, it is their business, but your job as technical reviewers should be to not hype products, but to just give info. Saying that something is great when it is not even in production and you are using a prototype and they are asking for money via kickstart scream so many things that intelligent people can infer by themselves. I had a different opinion of your channel, before this video; but now I find hard to follow your opinion as being moderate and non biased to be honest.
