First, stoked to find your channel, as you’re comparing very similar guitars/ pick ups that I’m interested in purchasing! I have this super cool 89 LP studio with “the original “ Bill Lawrence pickups and they sound phenomenal. However, I’m looking for either a 90s era gibson or just found an 89 Epi custom that I am really leaning towards for playing gigs/ rehearsal. Something I wouldn’t be heartbroken about if it were damaged I guess. Also interested in finding out more about the string butler! I’ve never seen this until now. Any recommendations? Thanks! And great great content 🤘🏼🤘🏼
@@simonaustin1136 good to know! I may look into getting the butler. After hours of research I bought the 89 epi LP custom on reverb and now I wait lol I’m looking for an affordable Gibson HBL pickup like the ones in my studio for it and I’ll shoot those guitars out and post the results 🤘🏼🤘🏼
I bought this guitar from you. It's my go to for all my drop D stuff. It's fucking monster. And I own about 30 guitars. Sounds like a Harley meets a tractor trailor.
I have a 2016 Epiphone LP custom pro with coil splitting, phase switch sounds ,and plays way way better than my actual 2012 Gibson LP. The Epi has Grover rotomatic tuners, pro bucker pickups, and the overall build quality is suprisingly beautiful. The build is beautiful without blemishes, everything is flush, smooth, and even the binding already has this aged quality look to it. My Gibson is a cherry stain Les Paul Jr, and it has klusons tuner machines, sounds ok, but the build quality is no where near as beautiful and definitely doesn't sound anywhere near as good as the Epi. I'd sell the lpj before ever the Epi.
I have a late 90s Epi Custom that used to be alpine white. Now its every yellow and worn down to the wood at some areas. Its a workmachine and it has never let me down. Played it in my shows, mostly smoky bars thats why its so yellow
@@simonaustin1136 I own it now. IT IS AN ABSOLUTE MONSTER!!!!!! Sounds like a Harley Davidson. I'll post a clip shortly and give you guys the link. I believe those were the stock Probuckers he put back in, and honestly, everything is playing so great, it will never be touched as long as I own this guitar, which will probably be until death hahaha! I own Gibsons and Epiphones of all manners and sorts. This one, for drop tuning, kills everything, except for one SG, except, it doesn't kill it, it's just different. A different tone, but when I need this, it does something specific, and what it does, it is more than a guitar. It's a secret weapon. Secret's out.
Hey, this one definitely had a thick poly lacquer. Due to its age it should have a bit of wear, and might feel a bit softer than a brand new epiphone les Paul's finish
