@moviemaniac14 that episode is amazing whether you like coach or not because it's the hardest the editors have ever clowned on someone. Let this dude make a complete fool of himself and add some eagle screeches just so we all know that absolutely no one could ever take him seriously. It's amazing.
@@hughmungus7425 Really only winning because he kept finding idols. Then would had lost final 4, but final 4 firemaking was born and he got into final 3. If he wasn't so lucky, he would had been voted off 6 times
yeah for some reason, the only 2 seasons that have seen significant season-wide review bombs on imdb are 41... and Borneo ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ @@TransparentEclipse I'm sure it was more than that but you really have to try to find a written 0/10 user review on imdb for any episode of season 41 that doesn't have the word "woke" anywhere in it
Thankfully it's not all 41, so I'll have a bit of variety to talk about! Still, very bizarre to see genuinely awful episodes of Survivor like the merge of IotI ranked alongside perfectly fine episodes like the 41 finale.
Honorable mention to the highest IMDb-rated episode of any Survivor franchise: "Return of the King" on Australian Survivor Heroes vs. Villains. Rightly so, in my opinion!
that's episode 7 right ? i can't tell if it's recency bias or that's genuinely the best tribal council in the history of all survivor versions but im leaning towards the latter (and this is coming from someone who thinks aus survivor is overrated)
Yep! Episode 7. Watched it a year ago when it aired and still strikes me as the best tribal council of all time. AU has some really high highs and really low lows, imo.@@uglyaniimals
seriously this is the best Survivor YT channel ever. i bet IMDB would agree. also the episode where Coach goes to Exile Island….is the best episode EVER
Regarding the #1 episode(s), looking at the pattern of what the IMDB audience likes, my guess as to to why that's #1 is a couple of factors. Cambodia seems to be a season that's well-liked (understandable) there, and this was the most Cambodia in one sitting. While the moments aren't iconic in and of themselves, there's some memorable bits here. The return of the "Local Legend Trivia" challenge was fun, and I have a soft spot for Fishbach's tricking of Abi-Maria in it. While Ciera might not have been blindsided, she was a "villain" on the show, and villain exits can be very satisfying. IIRC, this is the episode where Joey Amazing fainted during the challenge, so people might remember that. And, of course, there's Fishbach's "Joe is voting for Joe" confessional, which is probably the most memorable individual one of the season. This was around the time we had the "sit out to get the cool new shelter" twist, Fishbach's breakdown over the weather/his gut, and the discussion turning to "voting blocks", so even if they didn't happen this episode, things people look back on fondly (and while we deride voting blocks, I'm guessing to a more casual audience they seemed fun and innovative), and so this episode/these episodes get a boost from that. Really, what this whole thing showed me is how fleeting seasons are in the eyes of non-superfans. I get not everyone is going to rewatch this show, but MAN was there a recency bias. I was expecting us to get some stuff back from at LEAST as far as Pearl Islands (the premiere, the Rupert Blindside, and the Dead Grandma Lie are all episodes I could easily see in people's top 10's), but nope! If you weren't at least fairly recent at the time you presumably looked at the IMDB page, you weren't making the cut. At least that's how it seems to me.
Are people really debating the credit Russell deserves for influencing Tyson to flip? That’s arguably the greatest individual play in survivor history to not see that is to be blinded by hate for Russell. He absolutely deserves credit for it. He was so confident he flipped Tyson’s vote he plays an idol on someone else that’s an incredible play that he turned into full control of the game
Yeah. I agree “Extortion” is the best episode any individual player ever had, but I honestly think Russell’s the runner up with that one. And I _don’t_ like Russell, but credit where it’s due!
@@nebulous798 The only other contender I could think of would be Parvati in the merge episode. By seeing through Amanda’s attempted misdirection, giving up the immunity challenge to Danielle, and playing two idols, she was able to protect four people on a tribe of ten.
I think a lot of people dismiss it as Tyson's stupidity and ignore the work Russel put into it. I'm also going to shout out the theatre in his play and in particular playing to Coach to try to get him onside next vote. I say this as someone who could reasonably be called a Russel hater.
Hope you like Cambodia and Winners at War. And I do, quite a lot. But even I wouldn’t weight the list so far in that direction. Good list for Jeremy, though. He’s in more than half these episodes.
Interesting how Cagayan is the only non-returnee season on the list And was the one that hit Netflix and helped the show blow up (though also was a good season in its own right) Also Cambodia's weirdly high representation could come from its cast being determined by the general audience interacting? I don't know how many die-hard Survivor fans are especially into IMDB ratings. But people who bothered to vote on CBS polls probably bothered to vote on IMDB as well.
Jeremy even looking at the camera like, “what the hell?” When he can’t get Keith’s attention is magnificent. Tremendous work by the production team to not be dying of laughter while that was going on 😂
It was annoying when imdb changed their top rated section to just show the top ten instead of a full ordered list. When I would go on there to find out if the actor I saw was that person I was thinking of, I would every now and then check what the lowest rated episodes of a show were and try and guess why, but it's not such an engaging or interesting of an activity to do on my own that I'd ever bother now that I need to figure out the lowest rated episodes on my own.
My favorite episodes tend to be the ones where you get to see ordinary people take on this social experiment. Some include the Jenna boot in Borneo, the flood episode of Australia, the Great Lie in PI, the Russell boot in Philippines, and the premiere of Cagayan.
As a foot fetishist I always find that challenge very unpleasant and hard to watch. Not all of these people are attractive at the best of times, and none of them are after weeks of living in the elements have destroyed their hygiene. With that in mind, the challenge is no more titillating than things like Sugar losing her bra, Amanda’s panties falling down, or Deb streaking. But it takes much more focus than any of those. A better analogy might be Heidi and Jenna stripping for chocolate. Which was also deeply unappealing. Now that took on a very tawdry exploitative feeling, which the foot challenge doesn’t. But at least it had camera blur. I fully understand why the foot challenge doesn’t get blurred out, it’s silly to suggest it should. But the fact remains that it’s really just an unpleasant bastardization of something that, under other circumstances, would be attractive.
i think hardcore survivor fans forget that casuals actually enjoy strategic survivor and its more the core fans that want more camp life and such, because alot of casuals just get bored at too much camp life especially once the novelty from it being a social expiriement wore off
i wasn't expecting them at all but fight for your life or eat and medical emergency (episodes 10 and 11 of panama) will always be my two favorite episodes fight for your life or eat is the sally boot, and has the scene where shane makes cirie look at his uh. rash. otherwise it's a pretty standard episode from panama but that scene is so great it skyrockets it to my top episodes. medical emergency is the best episode ever, it's the one with the touchy subjects challenge and bruce getting medically evacuated. i don't think i need to explain further tbh
Tony's overcoming the extortion, Lie Cheat and Steal , David overcoming Goliath, Wentworth surviving the vote and booting savage, Snake in the Grass, I agree with all of those. Personally I'd include The Final Four which is the finale to the first season, the merge epidode of Redemption Island, and SJDS where Natalie changes her vote and starts going against her own alliance.
Episodes that IMDB absolutely missed (huge recency bias with only 1 episode pre-Nicaragua being on the official list): -Pearl Islands premier -Australian Outback premier -HvV premier -Coach exile island Tocantins -Micronesia Ozzy blindside -China premier -Gabon randy blindside tribal council Just to name a few
Keith will forever be my favorite player who just so happened to be on probably my favorite season: Cambodia. RIP to the king. I’ll always remember you getting drunk and driving everyone around.
This was a really solid list! Here is my top 13 ( I could not pick 10 lol): 13) S45 E6 : I'm not the batman I am canadian! : The SITD actually working was INSANE! That 5 season wait was worth it for this moment truly and GO KALEB, we stan a king! 12) S16 E13 : Give me a rat, I'll give you cheese : This episode is iconic in survivor history with Erik giving individual immunity to Natalie. I also find it so funny that they show this scene so many times and still keep cutting THE NATALIE WHO MADE THIS MOVE WTH PRODUCTION 11) S28 E6 : Head of the snake : I agree with this one, it's a really strong episode and Sarah's eviction is still one of those cemented and iconic moments in survivor history and is the beginning of the end of cops r'us. 10) S27 E12 : Rustle feathers : This episode, is so so so good! Ciera Easton cemented herself as a legend here and we get our first true rock draw which was so fun to watch! 9) S20 E6 : Banana Etiquette : While I personally feel Heroes vs Villains is one of the most overrated season of all time if not the most overrated, I cannot deny that the Tyson boot is really, really good. Queen Parv is KWEEEEN Russell showed how risky he can play and James is...well, James lol 8) S33E7 : I will destroy you : Millenials vs Gen X was my first season, and the Michaela blindside ROCKED MY WORLD. It was the first time I realised what survivor could be and made Michaela my favorite survivor player of all time with me screaming at Brad, Sierra and Debbie for mistreating the Queen and cheering and whistling for the greatest duo of all time in Cirie and Michaela. 7) S4 E8 : Jury's out : I'mma say it. MARQUESAS IS UNDERRATED! I knew most people say this season is ehhhh BUT THIS SEASON HAS THE FIRST FLIP IN SURVIVOR HISTORY! A ROCK DRAW, THE FIRST UDNER THE RADAR QUEEN THE GENESIS OF THE MARIANO STRATEGY!!! And the flip is the best of that, what an amazing episode!!! I was cheering all the way through! 6) S41 E10 : A baby with a machine gun : The new era has some strong stand alone episodes like the SITD ( which was at no. 13 BTW) and the Cody boot. However, this Shan boot was amazing, in every way as it dethroned the biggest player of the season - one of the most complex characters of the season. 5) S26 E13 : I don't say anything about my Mom : This is easily one of the most emotional episodes for me and showed how brutal survivor could be. Brenda's blindside nearly brought a tear to my eye, as seeing Brenda give up everything only to be blindsided shows the cruelty of human nature. A true GOAT. 4) S1E13 : The final four : The first finale of the show, and it is damnnnnnnnn gooddddddd! It's fast paced, we see Rich's strategy, the Sue blindside, the snake in the rat speech I can go on and on. 3) S38E13 : I see the million dollars: This episode is genuinely a movie, a fever dream and I LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEE it gosh I love this season so much and it is because of this finale. Chris Underwood's win is INSANE! Easily one of the best episodes of all time! 2) S40E14 : It all boils down to this : This finale is genuinely a spectacle, the end of cops r'us, the Bem sacrifice, the emotion in all the players playing HARD. The Ben sacrifice like the true military man he is, the end of Cops r'us, Natalie's triumph as she thinks she's won but plays exactly in the way she did not her first season : safe. Michelle knowing the inevitable Tony is to come and Tony taking his second win cementing himself as a survivor legend. What more could your boy want? 1) S10 E14 : The Ultimate Shock : The best finale befittingly comes from my favorite season of all time. The Ian fire making challenge is great, the pole challenge is amazing and Ian throwing int he towel is so emotional as it shows just how emotional the game is. Tom Wesman's win was INSANEEEE I love this so so so so so much!!!!!!! Best season of all time and best finale of all time IMO.
I’m just shocked there’s not a single episode from season 8 (all stars) on the top list! I love all stars sm, so I may be a bit biased, but they were fun and intense
so basically, my theory of second chance, and winners at war being the best, two seasons are proved here personally, the blind side of Andrew savage #Wentworthwillnotcount is the best episode of survivor history I will never forget watching that when I was 11 years old. It was the moment I knew I loved the show. I wanted to be on it one day.
The ONLY right answer for the worst episode in Survivor history is "We Made It to the Merge!" from Island of the Idols (the Kellee/Jamal boot ep). Truly the single episode in the entire show's history that made me reconsider my love for Survivor.
i know this isnt going to be on the Survivor US IMDB, but to me, by far the best episode in the history of Survivor is the finale of Survivor Australia season 3 (2016) if you havent watched that season, and youre a survivor fan, do yourself a favor and watch one of the greatest seasons in the shows history, and the best finale
Not having seen the season, learning there was an episode where a white woman tells a black man he needs to learn "Banana Ettiquite", I was prepared for a "Are you gay?" Or "Zeke is Trans" style moment... Back home, there's a term we have for someone so naively innocent as Amanda called a Sweet Summer Child.
Im sure the follow up to this next week will be the worst rated episodes but part of me would love to hear ablut your favorite episode from each season if for nothing else than its fun hearing you talk about seasons that arnt talked about as much
You know, I was going to give kudos for this list being reasonable. Even if you don't agree, you can see why someone might. And then number 1 comes in and just utterly bamboozles everything. I genuinely got nothin. The foot fetishists are as good a theory as any
While I agree with most of these, I can’t believe not a single old school episode was highly rated. We didn’t need 3 waw episodes here, and you’re telling me that the Ciera and Stephen boot episode, while interesting, outranked the Borneo finale? The episode with 50 million viewers tuning in, the episode that set the bar for how to win Survivor, gave us “Snakes and Rats” doesn’t even get an honorable mention?! Not blaming you at all Luke. To hell with recency bias.
