You could make an exact video as this for the 90’s. Same type of clips and narration. -era of Gretzky. Lemieux, Jagr, Yzerman, Fedorov, -arguably the best goalies in Hasek, Brodeur, and of course Roy. (Plus many others) -rangers first cup in x years -red wings first cup in x years -Colorado Detroit rivalry. McCarty’s revenge on Claude L, then scoring game winner. -99 retiring -Quebec relocation, 1st yr cup. -expansion teams and relocation. -hockey to the desert -hockey to Florida -the Mighty Ducks movies and subsequent franchise. The video you could make arguing for the 90’s would be amazing. The problem with a lot of young fans, is they haven’t seen a lot of this and a lot isn’t easily available in quality video. I'm not that young. The era from around 07-08 (Kane and Toews enter the league, Blackhawks revive; Crosby Malkin and Ovi dominating; Red Wings still great) to maybe 2018 or 2019 (maybe earlier; some would date it at the Blackhawks downfall, so the last good year would be 2017) or so is peak NHL. I've seen various eras. That one is going to be really tough to beat. The 90s were also great, but in a very different way. But everything was great in the 90s so that's no shock.

As a Blackhawks fan I feel so lucky to have grown up with the dynasty years and have that be a factor of a huge part of my childhood. I’m nearing adulthood but I’m sure that Bedard will be the face of the league for the next 15-20 years and will galvanize an entirely new generation of hockey fans. the 2010s was dope asf man very little players getting 100+ points and lotta checking and fighting. I ofc didn't get to experience the 90s or 80s but those sounded like dope times too. Ofc the rivalry with Ovechkin, Crosby and Stamkos all 1st overall picks int their respective drafts will go down as an era for the ages. Ever since covid started, literally everyone is scoring 100+ points whether it is by goals or assists and I never thought Id say this but tbh when you have too much star power it doesn't provide a team to win cups. Look at the Lightning and how since 2015 they have been to 4 cup finals 2015, 2020, 2021 and 2022, win 2, lose 2 and 6 conference finals also 2016 or 2018 or red wings and penguins back to back finals in 2008 and 2009 or the Blackhawks from 2009-2017 with 3 cup finals in 2010, 2013 and 2015 and wins and 5 conference finals also 2009 and 2014 or the bruins between 2011 and 2019 with 3 cup finals in 2011, 2013 and 2019 thats cause these respective teams had a healthy mix of star power and depth not a lot of one and very little the other. Tampa actually is a dynasty to me at least cause like I said 4 cup finals in less than a decade. During the second half of the 2010s and the first half of the 2020s they look the league by a storm with playoff runs as a result. This def is one especially if the kings going to 2 in only 3 seasons and winning both in both the early and mid 2010s is considered one. Epic video altogether and this info not at all surprising as biased as that sounds lol since I only started following the game in late 2009/early 2010

Finally , the nhl deserves to be so much more popular to the masses. Ik it’s a better sport than all the others when it comes to the mechanics of the sport itself. It’s simply because it doesn’t market itself nearly good enough and the media restrictions are killing the league. The commissioner should have been fired years ago.

I'd have to agree that the 2010s was the best era. There were historic playoff runs, be it the Sharks and Predators first making it to the final, the Blues historic run, and last and certainly not least (I'm a Pens fan) is seeing Pittsburgh become the first back-t-back campions in the Salary Cap Era. I also feel that the broadcasters during this time also contributed immensely to capturing these incredible moments. The ESPN broadcasters simply do not hold a candle to Doc Emerick, Dave Strader or Bob Cole.

Gretzky is not a big or physical player and he is the greatest of all time and he played during the era of big guys and goons, so suggesting that the physicality of the game needed to be removed or reduced in an effort to allow smaller, les physical guys to do their thing is to me, is ridiculous. Dos it allow more creativity when you can go into the crease untouched and without fear, of course, but that doesn't make the game better. It's similar to what we see in the modern NBA, no defense and all of the advantage given to the offense, forcing the defense to sit back and watch guys score. There are some who think this is better than back when it was a more physical game, but I'm not one of them. I am afraid the NHL is just going to keep moving farther and farther down that road until what we end up with every night is nothing more than an exhibition between to teams and nothing more.

"Tampa isnt a dyanasty" ok, name any other team that has made 3 straight cup finals since the islanders dynasty in the early 80s. Not to mention the strangle hold tampa has held on the league for the last 10 seasons 1st in regular season wins 1st in playoff wins 1st in power play goals 1st in even strength goals 6th least goals against 8th best penalty kill 1 presidents trophy(62 wins) 6 conference finals 4 stanley cup finals 2 stanley cups 6 likely hall of famers: Stamkos Hedman Kucherov Vasilevskiy Point Jon cooper Other possibles include cirelli, sergachev There is no other team in nhl history that has done what tampa has done. Considering era, they are in my eyes a top 2 team in Nhl history, or maybe even the best overall.

I think theres nostalgia bias here. Like other than skill being in this era its not like the other cuo champs are nt unique 2000s Had New Jersey win 1 here and loose the next with Raymond Bourque lifting the cup 02 had one of the best rosters ever win and settle there feud with colorado Then Anaheim loosing to new jersey sementing themselves as a dynasty similar to the blackhawks The lockout sucked ill give you that 06 had 2 underdog teams meet in the first ever speed era cup finals in an all time cuo final 07 had anaheim redeem themselves from 03 08 and 09 was a passing of the torch from 1 juggernaut to another. Not to mention crosby ovi lidstrom sakic brind'amour the 03 draft. Not to mention the wings avalanche feud while wayne and mario dominated the 90s Battle of alberta during the 80s and the oilers isles colliding dynasties 70s had or and lafleur dominate No single decade is the best.

You polled a very young audience!!! Even though the skill levels are higher now, hockey was much more exciting in the 70's and 80's! As for dynasties, it takes 3 Stanley Cup wins in a row to be a dynasty, that is why they are so rare!!!!! Only 3 teams have ever had a dynasty, and the 3 you mentioned are not them!!! 3 wins in six years? What a laugh!!! One team had 10 Stanley Cup finals appearances in a row, and won 5 cups in a row during that time, now that is a dynasty. From now on you'll have to call it a Bettman dynasty for 2 wins in a row or two in ten years or whatever, but it ain't a true dynasty!!!!!!!!!

cap era is different. it's 30+ teams and the league has rules designed to rip apart and punish teams for being good. 3 in 6 under such conditions is a dynasty, yes.

@@georgial6398 Ill take your word for it, but they couldn't even manage 2 cup appearances in a row! Chicago is the definition of a Bettman dynasty! By contrast, Tampa Bay won 2 in a row and then lost the third to Colorado in 6 games, just 2 wins shy of a true dynasty! I'll bet you are a Chicago fan, and if so, your team has a very bright near future, maybe Bedard can bring Chicago a true dynasty.

@@nathanadrian7797 Tampa 'won' an empty stadium 24 team exhibition tourney months after the regular season. Then had a cap cheat season of 56 games in fake realigned divisions where they beat the Isles in game 7 of the ECF 1-0 on a goal scored w too many men on the ice, then beat the 8 seed EASTERN CONFERENCE Canadiens in the finals. Then the next year they lost in the 1st round to Toronto in 6 until the refs literally stepped in and gave them the game so they could move on. Most fraudulent group ever. Their real nature is the 1st round loss to Columbus, and Chicago the real dynasty choking the life out of them in 2015. No one considers Tampa a dynasty. Everyone considers Chicago one. Cope and seethe.

Anyone who says physicality has been cut out of the game just isn't watching, dirty hits have been clamped down on (but the DOPS still is a joke on protecting players) and for some reason psychopaths want to keep dirty hits and line brawls in the game. Watch a team like Carolina or Vegas for 82 games it's obvious the game is just as physical as it's ever been. Hockey is doing great it just can't market itself because it's a prohibitively expensive sport with a rotten culture of abusive racist and misogynistic men, until that changes it will remain profoundly unpopular.

Chicago was a dynasty. 3 Cups in 6, 5 WCF in 7, in the cap era, is a dynasty. They are so far the only cap era dynasty. Pittsburgh's 3 Cups in 9 years is not a dynasty, nor Tampa's 2 Cups, which included an empty stadium playoff win and egregious cap circumvention in a shortened seasoned w one year fake realigned divisions.
