The BEST FALL DRIVE in the USA!!! Kancamagus Hwy & Flume Gorge, New Hampshire (RV East Coast Trip)

WOW! This was literally the most beautiful day of travel we have ever experienced!! We woke up in a Walmart parking lot with 7 other RVs all doing the same thing... boondocking in the beauty of the White Mountains! I think it was the most specacular Walmart ever :)
The plan today is to drive the Kancamagus Highway (and we can't seem to pronouce it correctly!). This is a 34 mile scenic hwy running from Conway to Lincoln, New Hampshire. You can make this drive in less than an hour, but that defeats the purpose! You are supposed to stop and enjoy the beauty. And boy did we stop! Not a mile into the journey we pulled off for the first time. There are lots of small pull-offs or full parking lots where you can walk and explore and take in the beauty. We walked on giant boulders in the Swift River, we walked throgh a covered bridge... we saw mountains and valleys and leaves of all colors. It was unimaginably beautiful!!
It took us most of the day on the drive as we stopped so many times, but when we finally made it to Lincoln, we went about 10 minutes north to the Flume Gorge. This is a must see... and bring your hiking shoes!! It is a two mile trail up and down some steep inclines, but so worth it when you make it to the gorge... Such an amazing day!!!

Hope you enjoyed your time in the Granite State. It’s funny to hear the tourists try to pronounce these attractions. I’ve lived in NH my entire 44 years and I have a hard time pronouncing them. That’s why the locals shorten their names. It’s the Kanc or “Kangamangus”and the Pemi Riva. lol

Glad to see that you enjoyed The Flume Gorge and New Hampshire. I haven't been there since 2002 when we traveled in our new 2002 23 foot Winnebago Minnie. We traveled a lot that year. Did the Northwest, Washington, Oregon, Yosemite, then did New England that fall.

Want a few days of enjoyment in your life but not sure what to do and would feel better if someone planned and organized it for you? Then, go on a cruise; stay at a resort; go on a bus tour; etc. All wonderful things to do, and do more than once. All offer their own unique experiences to add fulfillment to your life. But your life will not be complete until you step away from the fully planned, organized, guided activity that operates on another person's schedule. In this video you show the personal benefit of communing with Nature; of using all the physical and emotional senses. Your narratives were more than monologues of descriptions. I heard the excitement in the tones of your voices and saw it in the sparkle in your eyes. Also, there are many scenic byways where the speed limit is 35mph - and that is too fast. When there is a line of vehicles behind me, it is time to take the next turn-out. Then I learn that the second car in line, as it follows me, was in no hurry, too.

Ooooh, you two! Once again, you had me welling up in tears, twice this time. It's so wonderful to see things I've known my whole life through fresh eyes. It really is a blessing for me to be only an hour south of all that beauty. Here's the scoop: We all know its KancamaGus, but a true NH native will say KancamaNgus, (it just flows better off your tongue) so your initial pronunciation was perfect! What's better?(Well, nothing beats foliage season) Coming up in the summer and swimming at Lower Falls. You can slide down the rocks into the pools, floaties are allowed. When you get a minute, look up the Madison Boulder. Its the largest glacial erratic in North America; about 80 feet long and 20 feet tall and its about 10 miles south of where you get on the Kanc in Conway. Now, THAT'S a big rock! I sure hope you two plan another trip up this way again soon. I'd love to take you hiking in the notches, guide you around Lake Winnipesaukee, or hang out by a campfire. So glad you enjoyed your stay.

Thank you for not going up Mt. Washington. Nothing ruins a hikers day more than getting to the top of a mountain and seeing 100 cars and 500 people. Besides, you'd have killed the brakes in your RV.

Wonderful footage! I love that this kind of beauty is part of our country. We have such amazing places all throughout the USA to discover, it makes me so happy to see it. I love that y'all went on that 2 mile hike, that is my kind of exercise, hitting the trails and seeing the natural beauty. You two can always close your eyes and think of that hike and the scent of nature and the crisp air and cherish that memory forever!

We do that trip just about every fall. We only live about 2 hours away and probably take it for granted. In the granite state… haha. You said kancamangus the same as we do, but have been told it’s pronounced Kahn -ga-mahn-Gus. But most locals say it the way you did. Wish I saw you guys there, that would’ve been crazy! I hope you were able to catch a ride on the scenic railroad and check out zeb’s general store.

This reminds me of the waterfall tour in Marinette County, WI which is in northeast WI. Lots of pretty waterfalls and rock features. One of the most beautiful stretches of highway I've ever been on was Highway 1 in Alaska from Palmer< AK to Glennallen, AK. We pulled over several time to take some pictures. We did see a truck pulled over at one of the pull out areas that was on fire. It was pulling camper and must have overheated. At least they got the camper separated and no one was injured.

I was born in NH , and have driven the Kank a million times. Don’t let anyone from NH fool you. We all pronounced it Kank a mankus our whole lives. Sure we had it wrong, we just didn’t care. And that’s as NH as it gets.

Yes northern New Hampshire is absolutely Beautiful. I used to have a camp on the very western end of the kanc as we call it here in New Hampshah aye yuu. the town is called swiftwater nh. About 1.3 miles from Vermont. You guys should really travel the whole thing. There's another 20 miles on the otherside of Lincoln. And it is Beautiful!

Alisa, you would fall in love with Indiana in the Fall. There is a Covered Bridge Festival. It’s in multiple locations with multiple covered bridges and is full of all kinds of vendors and food trucks.

Wow such beautiful waterfalls! Love how excited you both are by the beauty!! Two of you together enjoy what this beautiful plant gives us. I live in Portland Oregon! It’s in a valley. It’s more fun to eat there at the pinic area!!! I have many memories of going to a fun Pinic area near a awesome lake on the way to the ocean as a kid!!! Sorry I can’t spell
