I'm thrilled today! Even though I had trouble learning fingerpicking from various videos, I finally got it down within a week thanks to this specific video. Not only was the instruction clear, but the close-up view in the video made it much easier to follow along and grasp the technique quickly.
Thank you very much. I am a beginner, and I just made that pattern part for my fingerpicking practice routine. I got the three thumb registers nicely combined and am working on those and then I will incorporate the finger registers. I get to practice a tune and to do finger picking exercise at the same time. This is awesome. Just what I needed. Liked and subbed.
Just seeing your video for the first time and subscribing .... Your teaching pattern in top notch... I started my guitar journey Feb 2023 and have been doing fine with the guitar... I believe your page would be of great help to me in this my new found love...
Wow, this is one of the best teaching I ever come across before. It's very easy to understand and get it done with my finger styles. Thank you so much brother, you such an angel from the heaven above ❤❤❤❤❤❤
thank you. Jonathan, I really like the way you taught this finger picking pattern. I am not any expert in root note thing yet. so i need a lazy way to overcome this thing. So I thought If you could do this same video to all 12 main chords that really will reveal me how I should continue. thank you again,
Those are cool patterns. But there are only arpeggio’s. Because you have to sing with them I like playing bass lines and melody and harmony all at the same time. I’ve been doing this for 49 years finger style guitar is a beautiful way of playing a guitar. It’s hard to do but in the long run it’s well worth it to learn it. I also feel like reading music is a sensual to go with finger style guitar playing. One compliments, the other I should know this I’m a solo instrumental, guitarist, but you have excellent teaching skills. Thanks for the video.👍🏼👍🏼❤️😁🎸
Thank you for flipping the video so we can see it in our POV. I made a video once on my channel how you can see any guitar teaching video like that, how you can just flip the screen in your device's settings easily. And very nice graphical time based explanation as well. Cool video cool sound great everything. Thanks.
Just beginning, but I love your video angle. Make it much easier to visualize and compare your instruction to what I’m doing. Subscribed after watching this video. Thanks!
Thanks Jonathan! I'll be signing up soon. I love your easy to follow, simplified instruction. By the way, in your intro, are you in the country of Jordan? It looks just like a place we went on occasion while we were there.
Nice lesson ---! Is "Dear Prudence " I learned long ago --an example of Travis Picking arpeggios---? The D chord starts way up on 14 fret --EBG ---strings ---and -comes down those top strings in stages - can you demo this song ?---appreciate. ---
it's a McPherson Sable. The reason behind the hole placement, is to have the longest part of the body undisturbed by a hole, for better reverberation. Their guitars are ingenious. Look them up.
the picking is the same for minor chords. The only thing you need to remember is the root note of a chord, which will change the thumb position of the plucking, for instance G, the root note is located on the low E string, whereas A, the root note is on the A string. So the thumb will switch for the fingerpicking. But whether it's an A major or A minor, the root note is A for both, and therefore the plucking is the same.
I've noticed that some pickers have malformed thumbs like yourself...is this because you started young and just ended up like that, or are BOTH thumbs like this? 🤔
I LOVE this comment...taken at face value. I HAVE this same thumb (ironically, which I regard as the aesthic ICON of human thumbdom) but whatever, you prolly have a differently shaped thumb (and clearly iconic in from your own perspective), and so here lies the truly valuable nut of your observation. One could argue both windows: weird thumb, different thumb, dumb thumb, etc) ...OR...thumbs don't matter (I know. A highly triggering suggestion amoung primates) but that really it's balls. BALLS... or the permission one gives oneself to model the successful and acheive simailar RESULTS for oneself. Right?!?
The sound and video of the pattern being played are not synchronised and the guitar is upside down . (I understand this is POV ) . Also when demonstrating the pattern the vocals clouded the pattern out a bit . Nice pattern but the vid could do with tweaking. IMO . Thanks anyhow .
Now picking up the guitar for the first time. Your style of video, the combination of digital and realtime placement of the left and right hands are excellent. Good job.
Way too complex. I’m looking for a pattern that’s has more of a simple pattern that is easier to fall into and not require any thinking about picking two strings at once vs picking the higher strings in an unnatural pattern
This is an excellent video, so save it for lit and find some really simple fingerpicking videos to start with, there are many out there. This would be too advanced if you adjust starting out so maybe try some arpeggios first.
